- This is the longest ski slope in Cortina d’Ampezzo, in the Italian Dolomites.
The video was shot on Monday 20th Dec 2021 at around 10:30 am.
We are following Louise, Inspired ITALY ski leader from the start of the Tofana Bus lift at an altitude of 2828 m. The total drop is 1,604m and finishes in Cortina d’Ampezzo at 1,224m ASL.
Here we are stitching together slopes 46, 51, 43, and 44 being red, black and blue.
The Ra Valles station which gives access to the top of the Tofana system is at 2470 m.
The Col Druscié A slope contributed to making Cortina d’Ampezzo famous on the world scene during the 1956 Olympics.
The lower slopes were used in the 1981 James Bond film, 'For Your Eyes Only' in which Roger Moore jumped off the slope onto the 1956 Olympic bobsleigh run chased by two men riding motorbikes.
One of the strong points of the Tofana ski area lies in the quality of its slopes.
Snow cat operators groom the slopes every night, providing the skier with the chance to enjoy an exciting ski ride on two of the most challenging and spectacular slopes in Cortina.
Wonderful run and even better skiing. Skied the Dolomites last February (from Val de Fassa). Amazing place. Can’t speak highly enough of the terrain, food and of course the people. Will be back. 🇦🇺 🇮🇹
Good on ya Rex! You sound like a Dolomites Ski Safari candidate to me! Check out the website www.InspiredITALY.com.
This is a masterclass in how to create a CZcams ski video.
Thank you Charles. We really appreciate your comments 🙏
fantastic lady on the ski....best compliments to her; and obviously fantastic video; I'll go to this slope 🎿.....but I'll try to go till Cortina country down to the valley
Thank you Andrea! Lou says Grazie very much! Have a great time in Cortina
The girl has done well!
Thanks Ron! I'll pass on your comments. As I write, she's lying next to me snoring!!! We'll be back in the Dolomites next weekend.
3:27 Live it looks really scary. Quite a big steep and at the bottom slope is very narrow. Got to control speed all the time here.
Just watched this video for the second time. Absolutely beautiful from top to bottom.
I love Cortina❤
I love this run, it has everything, fantastic views of the glacier, the demanding black run down, and long, long journey tgrough the forest. Beautiful weather and snow conditions. Great! ... 😀👍
Thanks Ivo. We ❤️ Cortina!
Very nice run to remember. Very demanding black part, and very long run through the forest, never boring, you can keep up the speed. But we liked to ski all the way to the bottom, the base station of the old cable car lift.
Ciao Ivo! Yes, I hope that with the fresh snow in the forecast the whole run will be open soon 🤞🏽
Discovered your channel today and enjoying the content. The educational points whilst skiing down. Thank you
Fantastic video. I'll be out there this December and this run looks incredible.
We're keeping fingers crossed for early snow like last year! Good luck Alexander!
Beautiful. Great skier!
Louise says "Grazie Mario"
Great video! Great skier! I enjoyed the comments too!
Beautiful video!! Greetings from Pesaro (italy)
Brava brava brava; she is a great inspiration. And congratulations for the cameraman. I hope that I can ski in Italy someday.
You should! Come and join us!
Just subscribed it.
Great video and very nice ski from Louise.
Never skied in Dolomites, but being "For Your Eyes Only" one of my favourite 007 movies now this one is on my bucket list 😁😁😁
Lou is an exceptional ski leader! She will be back in the Dolomites very soon. We really hope that you get to fulfill your dreams!
Fantatico video
Grazie José!!!!
Awesome this! Not the first montage I've watched, always stunning. Yes you are right, in the afternoon the forcella becomes a bit trickier. Very nice skiing though, doing it without stopping ;-)
Grazie very much Wannes!
Lovely skiing.
Thank you ☺️
great video !!! super info
Glad you liked it!! Grazie very much!
Will go to visit some day
Amazing
Thanks Lior!
i love you guys
Thanks Andrea! We can feel the love!
Simply wonderful !! I’ve ski’d the last few years from the Col de Lana hotel on the Pordoi but having to miss this year - can’t work out if watching this helped or not 😢 … amazing content
Wish that you were here Leighton! Keep watching for our #short updates!
Awesome video and narration, Thankyou!
Would you suggest staying in Cortina?
Where would you suggest staying on the sunnyside?
Not sure if that question makes sense but very new to this idea and may travel in March to the Dolomites
Life is short!!! Im 62 in March
Thanks again for the great footage and planting the seed!!!
Hi Glen, sorry for the slow response. Did you make it? When we go to Cortina, we stay in rifugi, on the mountain. You could try Rif Pomedes.
Are there also nice blue (wide) ski runs from the top? Thank you.
I blinked twice when I saw it was an old lady
OLD LADY???? That's my wife! I think that she might have words for you young Alex! Doesn't she ski well!
I'll be visiting Italy in early May, what are the odds I can squeeze a fee runs in at this masterclass mountaintain? 😅
Ciao Zach, highly unlikely this season I am afraid. Have a great time anyway!
@@InspiredITALY Thank you so much for the response. Although it wasn't the one I was looking forward to haha. I will definitely still have an amazing time no doubt. I will just have to come back for the skiing!
Thinking of going to Cortina pre Christmas around 17th December. Anyone been that early in the season? Thanks
Hi Archie, we skied the Forcella around that time last season, we had fantastic conditions, hoping for great snow again this season
@@louiseanderton6748 wicked! Thanks for the reply.
If the snow is good (like last season) it's a heaven on earth!
Skiing during covid while we all stayed home ?
I'm rather envious. I now live in Montana where we have 2 ski areas but neither ranks above a 5 on a scale of 1-10. I've never skied in South Tirol Dolomites but I can only dream to- I won't take the CV-19 jab so Italy won't let me go there.
Jimmy, as of May 1st, you should be able to travel again!
@@InspiredITALY Thanks for the update, however, I think they will still not let me go there because I refuse to take the jab. So It may be years or more, if ever. IT's up to the Italian Government's whims-
Is it me, or are you just sliding down the steep sections, not carving turns? I was taught by a quite a couple of instructors that this much upper body rotation will result in a wipe-out on a black, but apparently that is not true.
Hello Dave, well thats quite a technical question really! Unless you're a racer, it is truly impossible to carve the steeps on the Forcella! You'd reach terminal velocity in no time at all! Happy skiing!
@@InspiredITALY I'm a technical guy :) I always try to carve and just finish (or close) the turns at the end for speed control. Takes sharp skis though and I always struggle when slopes get icy: it's scary to crank in high edge angles then. This is much safer (or so it looks) and works for any condition.
You did well to go skiing in Cortina on 2021. After the next 2026 Olympics it will be ruined by traffic and smog and by thousands of people crowded together. Everything will be much worse, even the prices. Business unfortunately will go over Natural Environment
Well certainly there is some concern about the Olympics but that's a pretty negative view .... We'll keep a positive outlook until we know otherwise!
I do love ❤️ skiing ⛷ in the Dolomites. You are so lucky. I am an Aussie skier who is just too far away. 🥲
Hi Graeme, we have lots of Australian guests and even a few coming over this season. Go on, give it a try! Happy to offer you whatever support we can.
Fatta 2 volte..durissimo il .muro ghiacciato ❤⛷⛷
