    That was great footage. I lived in Leadville for 2 years as a child. Some of the footage brought back memories. Thanks!

    Awesome job on this video - in cinematography and content. I love the trail. I grew up in Leadville in the 1960's and visit it often.

    We ran Mosquito Pass in 2017 but in the opposite direction that you did. Very fun drive just slow going in some areas due to the rocks. Thanks for refreshing my memory of that trip.

    Excellent! Amazing trail, amazing scenery, and so fun to encounter abandoned historic sites like that.

    Traveled the Mosquito pass Alma to Leadville in 1963 with 3 speed stick shift Chevy Station Wagon. We made over the pass, but it has not easy.

    Thank you for filming this and showing me the terrain and what I am in for it when I try it. It was very helpful to gauge the difficulty.
    Also thank you for taking the time to jump out and get the exterior shots, they look so cool.
    How long would you say it took you to traverse it?

    Ingersol Rand Imperial Type 10 is an air compressor used to provide air to mining equipment. It was probably belt driven by the electric motor.

      Good to know, it must have been a beast of an air compressor back in the day!

    Great terrain and your Landcruiser is setup nice! We passed up a 4bt Cummins converted Cruiser that a friend was selling and I’m still kind of kicking myself for that one...

    @5:04 That's a 2 stage air compressor. The motor you saw for it is a 40hp 800 rpm 2 phase motor that weighs 2400lbs. That whole compressor as a complete unit weighed 9500lbs! lakesidetek.com/IngersollPics.htm

    I’ll be in Leadville in about a month, do you know if there’s a shot at this pass being open? Don’t know how soon Leadville/that elevation will get snow.

    • @OverlandTrax
      @OverlandTrax  Před 2 lety

      Thanks for watching! Unless there are several back to back snow dumps or seasonal closers, the pass should be open. For the most recent trail conditions, I recommend checking bushducks.com.

    Could a 21 renegade get through this? First time jeep owner and first time off roading. From Illinois and we don't have anything like this out by me. Too close to Chicago.

    • @OverlandTrax
      @OverlandTrax  Před 3 lety

      Thanks for watching! I do not recommend attempting this moderate trail unless you're already very comfortable with moderate rated trails. I am not familiar with the Renegade, an AWD should be fine in ideal conditions (no rail or snow) but recommend a 4x4. Safe Travels!

    Nice video. Are you lifted? What kind of rating would you give this? 4?

    • @OverlandTrax
      @OverlandTrax  Před 3 lety +1

      I have a 2 inch lift. There are several different rating systems out there and each have their own criteria. The only technical challenge on this trail is that it is narrow at some points and a shelf road. Other than recommending you have at least an AWD and are comfortable with your vehicle, it should be fine (weather conditions permitting). Thanks for watching!

    @OverlandTrax - can you share what camera you are using?

    • @OverlandTrax
      @OverlandTrax  Před 4 lety

      I've been upgrading/downgrading as I continue to learn about creating content. For this video I'm pretty sure I was running a combo of a Rebel 4ti and gopro 5s. Since that time, I spent some serious coin on higher end DSLRs and lens and then sold them for an army of gopro 6s and 8s to simplify filming on the fly. Hope this helps, feel free to reach out if you have any more questions. Cheers!
