About time Ian Hawke get the recognition he deserve. David Cross go so hard acting as a bad guy in comedic movie, and Ian also get redeemed he really is a perfect villain
Everything I've read about that movie makes it sound like david cross didn't like that role at all and hated every millisecond of doing it. It's good that it could still end up being a character people liked.

Unironically the funniest and best character of the live action Chipmunk films. The absolute spite he has for Dave is insane, from trying to steal the Chipmunks, to deliberately scheming plans to ruin Dave's life.
I think not liking the role but still putting a good performance into it is the height of professionalism and i really respect that. He could have just done a shit job with it but he actually did a decent job acting and i really respect it
I always love it when David Cross is in a show or movie. I think my favorite role he played was Minion from Mega Mind. And the funniest thing to me is how Ian Hawke has transcended Alvin and the Chimpmunks. He embodies someone who has a ego but with the skills to back that up. He never loses

David Cross is just too funny, even when he absolutely hates what he's doing. I don't know if that's a testament to his skill as a comedic actor or that he's willing to bring his best even when he's not enjoying himself, but either way, the guy deserves recognition. I mean, damn, the only reason he stuck around on Arrested Development is because he was too funny to remain a one-off character.
