    Just started using Substance Designer for the 1st time, at 18:40 when you connect the uniform color node to the PBR albedo safe color node, I get a red dotted line. I've seen from Allegorithmic's videos that this is an error but I am not sure what error I have. Any ideas?

    • @snakebebop

    Thanks for the video! I have a question, at 6:26 when you're adding the height maps, it does not show in my 3D view. I tried changing the render to iray, and I've tried going to Materials / Default / Edit and changing the height scale from 0 to 1 but got nothing. How did you get the height to show in the 3D view?

    • @claire182mon
      @claire182mon Před 5 lety +3

      Never mind! I fixed it by going to Material / Default / Definitions/ physically_metallic_roughness /and switching Parallax it to tesselation. I'm a newbie but thought I'd leave this here in case anyone else runs into this problem

    • @danieljrgameart
      @danieljrgameart  Před 5 lety +2

      It happens sometimes. It's good that you found a way. But it should also work with the parallax occlusion. There's no reason no to. You should try to go back to it and see if it still works.

    Thanks for the video! I learned a lot and I tried my own texture with your steps. I couldn't make the ice step like you, idk why but instead I did it with the water level node. Then it worked differently but almost with same results. I'll upload it soon to my artstation ( Same name as here, Najor).
    Another thing is that I try to install de .sbsar but I can't and I dont know how to do it. In the other hand, I tried installing another plug in but with the .py and it worked. Can you maybe explain how are the steps to install a .sbsar ?? here in the comments or in the video description! Thanks a lot!
    (I edit to say that I followed the steps that you wrote to Oneto down there. It's open on the graph editor but then it doesn't work. I mean I try to write to search for the node but stills don't appear.)
    Now i'll figure out how to make a rendering video changing the normals. Joyeux Noel!!

    • @danieljrgameart
      @danieljrgameart  Před 4 lety +1

      Hey! Thanks for your words. You don't need to install a .sbsar. You just run it with an external app, like Marmoset or or Substance player. There's nothing to do really. Did you try with Substance Player? And just to be clear: a .sbsar is not a .sbs

      @@danieljrgameart yes ! Sure ! In my mind is to make them better. But I have still not all the knowledge, because add more than two different "levels" (for example, sand + water + shells) is something difficult.
      Maybe you can make a tutorial showing how to do more than 2 "levels".
      By snow I think I will add a bit more noise and maybe some rocks. By lava I don't know yet.
      Thank you for your feedback.

      Hi Matheo. You could simply export the texture as a .sbsar from Substance Designer. Then in Unreal Engine, once you install the substance plugin, you'll be able to import the .sbsar and apply an instance of the material to your assets.

      First you need to import them into your project. You go to file -> open -> you choose the node that you want to open. For example : Filter_DilationOrErosion.sbsar Then you drag and drop it to your graph and can use it as I do in the tutorial.
