Channel update (2019) + quick and easy cables tips

Hey everyone! This is my first video since I got a job as an environment texture artist in the video games industry :) I'm happy to get back to sharing with the community the techniques that I explore in Substance Designer (sometimes by accident). This one is about curves, lines, cables. A very easy way to get a perfect result. My ArtStation: www.artstation.com/danieljrgameart My Twitter: twitt...
Metals study tutorial in Substance Designer - part 2 and End. Hammered. Galvanized. Rust.
zhlédnutí 9KPřed 5 lety
Step by step tutorial of a metal material. Part II. This time it's about making the hammered effect, the galvanized pass and the rust layer. Speed of the video: x2 I had to adjust some nodes connections after the recording, for a better effect management. But nothing too important. I can share the graph for those interested. Here are the custom nodes that I use: Dete directional warp: gumroad.c...

I'm doing it entirely from the beginning, so you'll see the complete process, even when I spend time judging the result and trying different settings. Speed of the video: x2 I talk only when necessary. In this one we'll cover the polished metal effect, t...
Concrete cracks in Substance Designer

A step by step walkthrough of my graph generating cracks subtracted from a simple concrete surface. I recommend that you watch the glass cracks video first. They're part of the same series. My ArtStation: www.artstation.com/danieljrgameart My Twitter: DanielRobichon
Let's make cracks on glass with Substance Designer

This is a graph walkthrough. I'll show you every node that I used and their settings / parameters. We'll also try alternative techniques and nodes in order to optimize the graph. Cracks is a very important subject to cover because they're used in a majority of projects in some form or another. Next video: cracks on a concrete surface tutorial. Non Square Transform node: h+v tiling trim sheets in Substance Designer
zhlédnutí 4,7KPřed 5 lety
It can be useful to understand how the non-square transform node works. It lets you pack different non-square textures together. I learned how to use this node by reading this: support.allegorithmic.com/documentation/sddoc/non-square-transform-159450647.html There's all you need to really understand the node and its powers :)

just in case someone sees this: Use the non-square-transform node to set the Output size to 2x, instead of the Blend-Nodes.And then Blend them together. If you are using the Blend-nodes for it, your textures getting really blurry

Hi there, I was wondering where I can get the multi directional warp node you use now as the link in description is broken and the integrated multi directional warp gives very different results. thanks!

Hey Daniel, you can just use the non uniform directional warp node which is a default node now.

very good ! at 4'12 it looks like the body of a jellyfish. I tried to do the same but with piece of glass ejected from the surface. I am lazy to use fracturation in Blender and particles. The new result you made is more realistic. Great tutorial !

Thanks a lot. I shouldn't have used custom nodes though.

Hi, Oh yes, it could be nice to make a video about my experience in the industry. Since then a lot has happened. Basically I got my job with my materials on my portfolio and what I did on my CZcams channel :) I saw a job ad, I applied, I did the art test and that was it. It came after many fails though.

😂 The site share sub has been reorganized and the file dilation or erosion filter cannot be found.

Thanks this was really helpful, it feels like substance designer should have a specific “trim sheet generator” node or something to help with this kind of tiling situation

Hi Timothy. I agree with you, it could be made simpler. But it's also fun to figure out this kind of stuff.
