Our children will not be allowed to do half the stuff we could as kids. Always more rules/restrictions/laws/regulations and prohibitions, we need less government not more.

yeah when you build these vans take a look at the tricks used in older caravans,,
i see ppl using very heavy matirals when building these vans there are plenty of cheap light stuff
I don’t think your life is ruined because of anything in this video it’s just click bait another good channel getting desperate shame
I passed my test in 1970. When I renewed my licence after reaching 70, they removed all the extra bits. So I am back to car, small van (motorcycle) a vehicle of 3,500kg with a trailer. No 7.5t lorry. I wrote to the DVLA about it - no response. Doesn't really affect me as I have no intention of driving a lorry.

With the new conversion you will need to be super careful about the weight. can you get weight estimates on the new cabinets? . Here are some weight savings ideas. get a tyre plug kit if your tyres can be plugged and compressor and loose the spare wheel and holding frame. consider a much lighter mattress. cut sections out of panels you dont see out. switch all the batteries to lithium if you haven't already. If you have an electric bike or scooter in the garage store it elsewhere instead. get smaller bottles of any liguids your keeping ie oil coolant etc. monitor how much water you use and consider smaller tanks if you dont need the bigger ones.

I'm fortunate / not fortunate (take your pick) to have grandfather rights. Will still need to check my Crafter when I eventually convert it.

Another tax. Who would have thought it. They should focus on all the drivers driving without in licence and insurance first.
Get your class 2,,cut lots of large holes in your woodwork and use a nice mesh to cover them,thus losing weight,oh and maybe give me some of your heavy freebies as im new to motorhoming.😂😂
Hi ya been watching your vids for ages now and always look forward to the next vid im a coach driver aswell and the driving license rules up the the wall you can drive a 16 seater minibus on a car license as long as its not for work and if you drive it for work you have have to take a test what's that all about aswell your have to watch out you don't go overweight now with the new plug for your sink lol keep up the good vids I keep an eye open for you up down the motorways

He has'nt got a HGV licence , a bus or coach is not a heavy goods vehicle !
Re: weight. I'd love for DVSA to clamp down more tbh. Even many of the 'professional' converted vans are so close to the 3.5t that they are useless.

Hi Richard another side to your notice is I’m a retired coach driver and 70 years old and guess what just renewed my licence as per the law and when it was delivered I’ve lost all my classes so now I can’t drive anything over a car or a 3.5 tonne unless I get a medical certificate of the doctor which is another expense if I pass so that’s my retirement dream gone
Exactly stupid been winging at them for years I have a psv also refuse to pay the test fee to drive a 7.5 ton van when I drive a bus with an upstairs haha
I'm sick of how the UK targets van lifers. Many are doing it because they have no choice and are forced because of the cost of living. Can't park anywhere and now they're going to crack down on self builds? Fed up with some of the bureaucracy in this country designed to keep those at the bottom, well and truly at the bottom. :(
My son is 28 and work with ambulance service he had to take his test for it .
Surely as a coach licence holder it should automatically allow you to drive 7.5 tonne.
Glad I've had my licence since 1995. I've driven big vans in the past no problem. The other good thing is I learned to drive in a manual so I am covered to drive an automatic. Those who learn in autos can't drive manuals. Yet another loop hole.

This is a problem that annoys me as well, especially when half those with grandfather rights can’t actually drive safely …
Bit extreme this...... even if DVSA pulled you which is extremely slim mate they would probably give you the benefit of the doubt to get it under weight with a producer. 🤷🏻♂️

No. The vehicles plate he shows states the vehicles
Maximum weight it can carry. If you’ve are over and over your license you’ve committed 2 offences, if you can drive the weight but you are over the vehicles mam you’ve committed one offence. On my
Van the mam is 2750kg so a long shot fof 3.5ton 👀

Do you want to know something else crazy...look up the rules for a bus over 30 years old and less than I think it's 7 seats or something along those lines....you can drive them on a normal car license with no training 😮🙄
