- Kawasaki "Fast Company" video features race video of Kawasaki premiering the 1980 KZ1000J Superbike at Daytona with rider Eddie Lawson and tech Rob Muzzy. This was the last video in the series for the Good Times Theatre.
This is one segment from the restored video player " Kawasaki Good Times Theatre". The Good Times Theatre video players were used at Kawasaki dealerships in the 1970's for customer viewing on the showrooms.
This restored video features great Kawasaki moments from the mid to late 1970's. Audio quality on the restored video is fair, but clearly understandable. This is a great piece of Motorcycle History. Hope you enjoy it. - Auta a dopravní prostředky
Oh man, this is pulling at 2 of my heart strings : Eddie Lawson & Kawasaki, particularly the KZ1000J❤
I've owned and driven both the Z-1 and KZ1000J. I sold the "J" a couple years ago to a guy in Japan. After 40 years it's back where it came from. Although it was leaps and bounds ahead of the Z-1, both in terms of power and handling, out of the two, I kept the Z-1. In my opinion, two of the best bikes ever built!
4 years ago and I have to admit, my comment was a little enthusiastic ;)
Funny thing, I am about to start assembling my dad's old Z900 roller from all his leftover parts he doesn't need anymore for his Z streetfighter project.
So I actually stuck to what I said above ;)
Can't wait for the first time riding it in summer!
Another great video from koupscycleshop. From a long time Kawasaki fan. Saw Lawson run at Road America in '81 and '82. Keep coming with these old Kawasaki promos. Thanks much!
The Goat!
Awesome save off history I'm running a zrx 1200 and love it
haha, great bike, nice flexible power band..Eddie's probably a little tonge in cheek on the power.. those bikes were un ruly beasts, they had to bump the compression up to the moon , and put mad stiff valve springs in em, so they got very peaky, and overwhelmed the suspension coming off corners, maybe they tamed the thing a bit for Eddie, but remember what level he's riding at.. bikes all over n he just reels it in.. but don't kid yourself, one of us mere mortals could not set down a decent lap time on one of those things to save our lives.. whatever the connection the two bikes had, the modern street version is sedate and easy to ride compared to those early beasts.. every vintage racer I spoke to says, that bike, the cb 1000 when it was hopped up and the tz 750 were the scariest machines on the track.. Even Raney says they were damn scary.. it's cool your ride shares some DNA with those beasts.. it was an era for men with big brass ones... honestly , you green machine owners should put together a racing series for yer bikes, grab some tires and leathers and battle it out old school style at yer local track.. would be awesome to see a one type series.. we do it with our ducs on club days.. let the green beasts rip !!!
This is almost like old family films!
awsome!!!!!! thanx for the post koups!!!!!!
This is so awsome, Thanks!
Thank you, Koup's!
This was real racing took balls 2 ride like these guys awsome
great video !!!!
super!!!!
"...without the complications of 4-valve heads..." LOL
Right and lightweight..
Great machine, rider and mechanic
Love it man...Eddie and Kawi's rule!!!
Back in the day!
Sweetness
those were true riders and fighters, nowadays... motorcycles drive almost on their own...
Sorry Koup's, but this was 1981, not 1980.
Eddie Lawson the king
you sound like a cool young man best of luck on your bike post some pix on your progress if you can . may you ride many happy miles
its nice altough i love to see spencer on his works honda
help me out guys
I hope Kawasaki can get back to this kind of dominance one day.
they completely shit canned their latest attempt to get back into moto GP, despite a huge effort.. it's too bad we havent seen a good showing from them since Scott Russell on the ZX7's , but they came out thinking they would dominate right away,,, absence from the circuit costs a couple of seasons of shit running for any team, lots to re learn.. when it turned out the bike was un competitive, the ZXRR, despite Kawi putting Melandri on the thing, and al the sexy chick marketing, and corporate boasting was a good generation behind in chassis.. Kawi had a good engine , but that no longer makes a great gp bike.. so the approach of hp n great rider doesn't work.. they do better in Superbike, and production classes, just not great at purpose built race machines....it's why you see bikes like the H2R from them instead of a RC213v which will woop an HR on lap times .. that era was so cool , they had amazing riders on crazy machines.. and competed well.. I think internal corporate arrogance kinda killed em in motoGP, too sure of themselves .. would be cool to see all the big four competing in the top level again, would make for some great racing ..
They dominate World Superbike, for the past 3 years. Jonathan Rea and Kawasaki. Using their MotoGP team.
Who is doing the narrating? One hell of a deep voice!!
Darth Vader, who else?
you go son get you an oldie but goodie , 32yrs ago i had a 1974 H2 750 tripple best bike i ever had , i dont like the new bikes .
The J model did not come out until 1981.
@00KTMLC4640 I just turned 57,000 on my 83 ELR bought it brand new still love going fast on it awesome motorcycle!
I love the old kawasaki Zs, u must know I'm 18 and will always prefer such a retrobike to a brandnew R1 or Ducati...also because in Germany the old kawas are allowed to be up to 110 db loud...louder than any tuned r1^^
my father told me that his mother back in the late 70s could hear him half a mile away, when he returned from work, and could set up some coffee :)
thats just a horny ride...hope i'll own one in several years, will put on a loud 4 in 1 and blast off every wannabe racer on the road
This is 1981, not 1980.
I think so too. Eddie's leathers and bike graphics look like the '81 colors.
I AM UNICRON.
If, back them you would roll out an H2
i ride zrx
Darkest...meanest..fastest...most evil spirited motorcycle I ever rode back in the day was my Bro's Kawa....it killed the owner before my Bro and my bro told me to watch out for it, I laughed....and it always was trying to kill me when I rode it....go faster...faster...faster...you can do it...I can do it too just twist that throttle and I'll show you....DO IT NOW !.....4 am in the dark on a rain soaked highway on a Monday on the way to work...70...80...90...100...110 mph..what in the hell am I doing !?...I ease off the throttle.. I hear it calling me names I don't listen...That bike was ..Evil ..wicked mean and nasty .....would have made a great race bike...I stopped laughing at it's power and mean spirit....it ended up damn near killing the next owner when my Bro sold it...he laughed too.
Voiceover is hilarious.. has to be manly & strong ... imagine .. Pee Wee Herman doing it.
lol i own a 1981 Z1000/J1 the very bike shown. its just sex on two wheels.
