- Mangaka day in the life in Japan also known as a Manga artist and manga creator. This documentary style video show the life of Mangaka from morning until the evening at the mangaka workplace, home and general mangaka working schedule. Working in Japan and Tokyo life is unique in itself, but even more unique for a Manga artist creating manga in Tokyo Japan. Mangaka illustrate manga commonly known as comic book. Maybe in Western societies, Mangaka are referred to as cartoonist or comic book illustrators. Manga creators in Japan with rensai status work with publishers to produce weekly manga. This Manga artist day in the life follows Reiji Miyajima 宮島礼吏 , who lives in Tokyo Japan and creates the manga Kanajo okarishimasu 彼女お借りします which translates to Rent a Girlfriend. Mangaka working in Japan often work in their home and set aside office space for them and their assistants. In fact, we also get a look into Mangaka Assistant life as well as how manga is created. Many Manga Creators work on serial comic books with weekly deadlines, meaning that each day of the work week in Japan is different as the manga creation process has to produce 1 new manga per week. Manga artist must not only know how to draw and create manga, but they also must know how to manage manga assistants. We even touch on Mangaka salary for first time manga creators. An inside look on how manga and comic books are made in Japan.

@@klmknop well I do read his "kanojo okarishimasu" manga. I'd rate it 7.5/10. It's a very nice manga to read but it got boring later as the main character is a spineless piece of shite and he can't do shit.

Mangaka must be one of the most mental health absorbing jobs I know of, I have a lot of respect for authors who know how tough and badly paid is their industry and they still prevail because they want to share their story with others, my admiration to all of you, there's a lot of very talented people in the animanga world
This was so adorable, I hope to be a mangaka someday and have a relationship like this with everyone involved. I love how he takes the time to bond with his assistants, and he seems like he thoroughly enjoys his job...

my brother works in japan, he said its pretty normal, they are very fair and quick-responsed and keep on doing whatever that was undone, even a ramenshop owner/manager also wash dishes when other employee got their hands full at the time, sometimes they come to the front greeting and servicing the guest, the amount of respect given in japan is insane but the downside they worked too hard it looks workaholic for non japanese

What's going on, Paolo? This episode on Manguka is close to my heart, being an (non-practicing) illustrator/painter in the past. I truly appreciate how you cover a lot of ground in a short amount of time - with essentials and points of real interest. I'm starting a manga with my friend, he writes and I draw, the process is not easy and I end up skipping some parts like nemo for example, but I'm definitely not going to give up! this video gave me the strength to keep trying, it's really wonderful and complicated the life of a Mangaka, I loved the video so much, I watched it with a sparkle in my eyes haha ❤️

I think it mostly sucks to be a Yakuza member these days. There was a massive shift in the laws that make everything they do impossible. Look up the Act for Prevention of Unlawful Activities by Criminal Gang Members

Seriously, a great artist but a terrible writer. I’m not even talking about chapter 218 but the whole manga so far itself. This jackass is really good at writing a story in a never ending circle of bullshit that gets nowhere.

Yeah the life of a mangaka is pretty hard, dude works 120h weeks with no holidays. But the day of the shooting was the day which the chapter was due, so they were probably on a time crunch
It does suck, but work culture over there is next level compared to the states.

As an artist, it's pretty common. Any source that has excellent references for fashion is a great resource for research. Using references = much more believable designs.
@@volgg I've found that on average mangakas have great fashion senses because of that. I really love the fashion in so many manga.
@@NeflewitzInc exactly, any artists that deals with character designs pretty much has to have good sense of costume design. If you don't use references, you just kinda "make up" stuff that isn't believable (depending on the style of the art). I personally use pinterests to look up fashion designs and also take inspiration from real life nature to influence designs.
@@volgg I do the same with medieval art from manuscripts for my D&D content. Dungeon Punk and early warcraft-esque designs honestly look like garbage slapped together after you know what you should be looking at.

From the looks of it the 2 male assitants that he had said they worked for him 2-3years already since the boss first startes making rent a girlfriend back in 2017 they btoh stayed to work with the boss cause it seems like he's a nice person to work along with and learn from plus the 2 male assistants also mentioned they're already making their own mangas but still continue to work for the boss cause they like it so thst in itself speaks volume interms of the boss'a character and there's also the 2 female assistants working there for 1-2 years just by the length of time they worked for him should speak well enough on their current status and pay
