HOW TO OLLIE UP A CURB THE EASIEST WAY TUTORIAL

- The Purpose of Braille Skateboarding is to grow the number of people who skateboard by teaching, motivating, and inspiring. We do this by making skateboard tutorial videos covering every how to skateboard video under the sun moon and stars. By learning ourselves and showing that no matter how old or young, you can learn to skate. Part of this is also providing a suggested path to take in learning to skate. Then we inspire NEW people to learn to skate by making videos outside the very small world of skateboarding. We turn an ipad into a skateboard, skate on a big screen TV, and even a door. We focus not only on the creativity here but building the board and then all the way through to seeing what tricks can be done on it. Skaters have always been a creative bunch of people they take the normal ideas of society and change it to create their own world. Most people see a set of stairs we see a kick flip going down them. Our goal here is to take people that may never of thought of skateboarding before and get them on a board.
Brand enquiries please contact kylie@brailleskateboarding.com
I have created many ways to achieve the above goal and will list them all below. Different ways for different people so have a look through and see what fits you best.

I don't think there's a curb in the whole of the UK as smooth as that one
Ahahaha. This made me chuckle to myself
Julian Jackson I don't think there's any ground that smooth in the whole of the uk
Julian Jackson This is one of the most related things. #UKCURBSAREAWFUL
Julian Jackson same here in PH
Miloomin same in australia.
My ultimate tip for you: when you are trying to ollie up a curb (or anything else) you have to focus to land it with the BACK WHEELS. I was trying to ollie up a box and was landing only with my front foot, but every time i focus to land it with my back wheels everything goes smoothly!
Dude
Thats the exact same problem i was having lol. After focusing on landing on my back wheels im landing my ollies up/over stuff very consistently
Same😂
Today I (a 15 year old austrian person) was training to ollie over a curb in a local parking place (at the end I made it :D) when a group of teens showed up on their bikes and started to say things like "you're shit" or "you have no friends" because I was there alone it didn't really got me down but I think it's really depressing how some teens nowadays are.
I really love your videos and they are helping me a lot, so thank you really really much :D #PushSkateboarding
Woher genau aus Österreich kommst du? =)
Kaprun (des is in Salzburg)
+Bastney Just dont let that get to you.
+Christian Raygoza learn some tricks thatll shut him up. always works. :P
+Bastney I ignore all the people who try to put me down, just keep skateboarding and let the haters talk! :D
How to Ollie on a Curb -
Find a curb, Ollie on it. Done. It's just commitment issues usually.
AndrewLiong ya once I built up the courage to just do it I had no problem
Honestly
Berra Defiend every time i do it i land up and lose balance wtf
heyimchris me too
heyimchris can you do it now and have some tips?
Ive been reading through these comments and honestly theres no need to hate om Aaron, hes the best guy to male tutorials and he does this for you guys. Don't be talking crap about him hes a real nice guy and all i want to say is thank you for making these videos for us! :)
Make tutorials* my bad haha
True dat
Eddie Medina for moneyh
Where the hate at tho
Eddie Medina What he says when teaching us how to land a trick is true. It just depends on the person. The most important thing is to not be scared of falling when trying to learn skateboard tricks. Skateboarding is dangerous and learning the hard way is the only way.
I popped a molly but that didn't seem to help :/
lol
XD
I've heard the same thing
if you pop a molly well enough, you should get pretty high.
XD DRYING
I just learned to Ollie up a curb, for those who can’t yet, I believe in you, you got this.
Wow, nice job!
thanks bro I'm working on it 😀
0:56 just pop some mollys
moose lmao
moose 😂
moose just pop Somalis
he said pop some ollies but it sounded like that
I love Aarons board control. He is just so comfortable in all his tricks.
your "easiest way" and "live support" videos have been super helpful for me while i've been learning how to skate. I feel like I have a personal instructor helping me along the way.
I been practicing popping mollies and I think I’m high enough
🤣
LMAO Ngl that was funny
U in the wrong tutorial bro 😂😂
Lol I'm so wasted took me 3 reads to understand why you got so many likes lol
The curbs where I live are like twice as high lmao
Same
then jump higher
Here they are twice as low. XD
Simona Omina Just imagine they were higher and keep trying. Consistency is key lmao
More of a challenge 🤟
I feel Like its easier to Ollie when ur going straight at it
Same
Haha you know, I've known how to ollie up a curb since I was in middle school, but I enjoy the Braille Skateboarding videos, and more specifically Aaron Kyro's videos so much, that I actually watch these. I just enjoy watching Aaron Kyro teaching people to skate. Just seeing him helping the youth learn to skate is so inspiring. I really look up to this guy. I can confidently say of all the video's I've watched, his tutorials taught me a lot. His tre flip tutorial really allowed me to master the trick. I never before understood you had to scoop the board forward with your back foot. As soon as he said that everything fell into place.
You make it look easy .
Pop some ollies I'm sweatin'
WHEW!
He's promoting drug usage!
0:47 "Just ride along the curb and just do some mollies"
0:56 "Just roll next to the curb; pop some mollies"
1:04 "Then you can see whether or not you're high enough"
Unknown that's the joke...
Jordan G Woosh
XD
Drew Stevens hahahahaha
Drew Stevens I
Thanks, I ollied up my first curb today :)
I remember the days when I needed this video. Good luck to anyone looking to progress at skateboarding.
I'm high enough I just cant seem to find my board
0:57 "Pop some mollies"
XDXDXDXDXXXXXDXD
+jdmasfuck some ollies
whenever I try to ollie over or up or off of something, I cant. I just forget the steps and mess up every time
Actually same and if u can do it now do u have any Tipps because it's so frustrating
77 Squad looks like we’re both in the same spot lmao. I just lose my ability to ollie. Ill focus too much on pop and won’t slide my front food, and then i focus too much on my front foot and don’t pop enough. It’s tough
Nicholas Batschynsky same
2 year update, I can now kickflip and do a bunch of other tricks. Commit as hard as you can and put your mind to it. Start Ollies up something small and work your way up, you will get it eventually.
@@dweezil4228 bro how??? i cant stay on my board and idk how to commit when i ollie i cant stay on my board trying to go up something
Every curb where I live is gnarly to ride off off, I sped down a steep ramp at around 18 mph and rode off the curb, I’m comfortable with that, but the asphalt was layer so that there is an angle leading into the curb and the actually asphalt appears a foot after the curb and it is a REALLY rough transition so my wheel caught and I flew forward
Bruh tell me why i sibbed to u from a different video like 2 years ago
I learned this yesterday! Thanks 4 the help aaron. My advice to others is to ollie your deck onto the edge of the curb to start off with, for some reason it boosts confidence. Also, SPEED is key and JUST GO 4 IT
"Just roll next to the curb, pop some mollys." 0:56
When i was in the 3rd grade i brought a kitten to school in my backpack. it just happened to be a P.E. day(my fav). on p.e. days we leave our stuff outside, so i left my pack outside in the sun, I was excited and forgot about the cat. when I got back, the cat was dead. I was so ashamed that i didnt say anything and left the dead cat in bag all day. at the end of the school day i put the cat in the trash. the next day the teacher was so mad she had the councilor come in to talk to the class and see who had done it. I can remeber being in class for about an hour and nobody knew who had done it. at the end of the day some other kid got blamed and I got off scotts free. I never took another cat to school.
What does this have to do with learning how to ollie onto a curb?!
Good story. 10/10 should publish
this helped me so much on the ollies thank you!
This is really traumatic man, go see an expert.
really love the advice i can do a 360 switch flip up a building now dude
Thank you so much for this. I haven't skateboarded in a few years and I've just taken it back up again. I found a skatepark by my house and I've been there twice this week and I'm terrible. This was a huge encouragement for me in getting up on the box and remembering some basics. Your tips will be so helpful. Thank you!
Nick, I have the same exact problem. You just have to commit. I use to be afraid but now I'm not. You just got to try it once. If you fall, you fall. I doubt any injury from tripping over a piece of wood would be serious. My first time, I stayed on the board and didn't even make it over. Once I realized it wasn't hard and I didn't even fall, I just commuted. And learned :)
approach curb, ollie, boom.
It's more of a commitment thing
all you need to do is get a shitload of speed then ollie
I see what you did there.
almost got me
Then eat shit
Ok sensei i will try this
i skate since 13 years i do switch and nollie tricks and all that shit, but watching your tricks type even for the easyest tricks is a real pleasure and i feel like learning the tricks again
Hey Aaron. This video was really useful to me as now i can ride anywhere on my board, something you should do more often is put the camera on the board facing your front foot and that's how I really really understood the sliding action of the foot. Thanks keep being epic!
Every time I try to learn a trick i get scared I'm gonna get hurt lol so I don't know any
wear some protective gear, helmet, elbow pads etc, it hopefully will give you more confidence.
+Cole McDaniel you have to commit...try to think...so if i dont land this trick i will die...no joke it helps...sometimes you can fall harder if u dont commit so just GET YOUR FEET ON THAT BOARD.
Just don't think about it.Your never going to have fun if you think too much.COMMIT
just think ima stay on the board no matter what
Pussy
Help dudes!! I can't ollie up onto curbs. I can't ollie at all unless I'm looking down at my board. When I try to ollie up a curb I find myself constantly looking back and fourth at the curb and my board and really...I almost never make it. It's either my back wheels grab onto the curb and I fly forward..or I just don't attempt to do the ollie. I guess I'm scared of failing and falling. I'd appreciate any tips and advise.
My best advice is to have confidence and picture yourself landing it
practice ollieing moving without looking at the board first.
ya true
bro I can Ollie up curbs but I do still look at both my board and the curb. all you have to do is just be confident, time it, and stay on top of your board
Just eat shit until you get it right
Just eat so much shit till you can't at all, Bruce Lee should know
ollied up my first curb like a boss high on stezz Couse of this video. that's Aaron for all your help and dedication to us here keep it up
I had a very frustrating time while learning to skateboard and because of it kept skating on and off. Now so much time has passed and Aaron's slow steps of explaining would've made my life so much easier! At this point in time i can ollie, bs/fs 180, popshuvit, heelflip and kickflip... i just purchased skating made simple, going to fill all the gaps in between :).
Thanks aaron, you turned skating from something frustrating to something so fun.
Hey Aaron, I was wondering if you could do a lesson on how to ollie up a ledge (or box or bench)? I'm learning how to but can't seem to get my back truck on to the ledge. But when I do, my board flies from under me and I fall.
I did already search "how to Ollie up a curb the easiest way tutorial"
***** Yes I saw your "how to ollie up a curb video". But I already know how to ollie up a curb. I was wondering if you could make a ledge video? Like a ledge that's over a foot in height.
GuitarLord3000 its the same...
Owl Shredding I can ollie a curb every try but not a ledge. On a ledge, if I'm going fast enough and I ollie high enough, I can't get my back trucks up. But when I do get my back trucks up, my board flies from under me and I fall backwards.
GuitarLord3000 i konw, I felt the same when i learned it but you just need practice and of course you need to take off all your fears
Hey Aaron, every time I try to do this my board goes behind my feet and the board flies forward. I can do a flat ground Ollie fine, so is it just all mental?
thanks alot man ive been working on these forever and i finally got it
Finally made it today. It was so scary but once you try it and even if you didn’t make from the first time you’ll definitely gonna make it on a next one. Fear is the biggest reason why I wasn’t able to make it. I’m 35 years old and only started skating couple years ago.
Step one. you need to have some dope gear.
Step two. pick up a board from Walmart, Target, or Ross.
Step three. tweet and IG at Maurice Malone and ask for his blessing on catching the best air for the curb.
Step four. capture no less than 65 angles on the ollie
Step five. slow mo that shit
STEP SIX. have 36 homies rush out from the corners giving you hi-fives and hugs and yelling all crazy.
Step seven. Look very angry and sullen when riding away. Kids outside of your click should get an elbow to the eye when they try to give you props.
Highly underrated comment and if this 6 year old comment gets a reply, respect
@@Jay-vr1mz from the woodwork! Olympics aint got nothing on curb work!
@@snowjerkface hehe, awesome ;)
Thumbs up if you get motion sick from the "POV" shots!!!
Have been watching since I was 9, turning 15 on the 18th. This was the first video I watched
I can do most of the tricks that Kyro does, but I still watch these videos because I love his skate style and how he makes every single thing look super easy...
Hi, I had my ollies on point and could ollie on stuff easily, then I ate dirt a couple of times (that happens of course and it happened many times before), but after that I couldn't ollie on anything, not even a curb, do you think its just a commitment issue?
Yeah, i have the same issue
I did before but, work on Ollies with speed that’s what helped me Ollie up a curb, now I can do curbs 1st try!!!
its easy but u have to just keep ollieing practice makes perfect
Oqila are you still skating?
@@musdg864 who knows
i find your channel the most helpful yet . subbed!! :)
Wow. Once you learn it you can do it, that's about it. Learning everything for the very first time is the real challenge.
I'm a weird skater everything you said here is harder for me but all the ways that's not easy is easy for me
ShamefulFlyer Inc. o my God your so kinky
I can Ollie fine on flat but when I try ollieng on something I can't get onto it. why?
my back wheel always clips
+Anthony Padilla i've been ollieing over things like i put a brick and a long stick on it and the point is to not knock the stick off, it was about same height as a curb and that helped me to get onto a curb but now i gotta learn to ride after landing the ollie
Anthony Padilla because you probably get scared right before you try and then freak out and do it wrong that's how I felt at first
Thanks! It really helped
Thank you so much for this video Aaron! I've been wanting a video for this for a while now.
When i try to do an ollie i turn to the left, somebody help me please!!!
It is most likely you turning your head to the left, try keep your body straight :)
Literally one of the most annoying things.
Maybe tighten your front truck a little til you get it down
maybe your leaning back or forward
U probably are turning ur shoulders when u Ollie. Keep ur shoulder straight parallel to the board
I can ollie , frontside 180, and shuvit but i cant do this, i really hope this vid helps me
David Wise just go fast and commit don't think about it just go fast right before you hit the curb pop and ollie as high as you can and bend your knees high. after just keep practicing till you feel more comfortable
fahshooo thnx
You're the perfect example of a stellar teacher, bro.
Dude. He always finds the best skate spots.
I can ollie over something but i can't ollie up a curb
How about now?
of course...few years ago....
@andysolame Don't worry i can do even more than that
Suzaimon Xicor I’ve been trying to Ollie up a curb for like 3 weeks now, and I still can’t do it
@@fesils5548 Ollie on a curb it is not something easy to master...We need to learn how to ollie higher as possible..if you master it..then its time to committed
Well, I'm injured.
dude you deserve the medal of honor!
It took 3 weeks of falling and bloody kneecaps but i can finally curb ollie every time. Thanks for making this video, it really helped me :D
Brink CSGO LMAO that took some time. i wish i could be more commited but to many cracks in my small shitty town ;/ wish we had roads/curbs/sidewalks like a city does.
Brink CSGO woop just noticed 9 months since you commented lol O:
@@scoobyDUI hello from the future
the easiest way tutorial
you misspelled San Francisco btw
Jonas Frandsen the only way
Roads in Australia are shit
Joel Corbett lol I feel you
Thanks Aaron this was a really big and great help! I can now ollie up curbs!!!
TIP: When I ollied up a curb, first I saw if I could make the jump by doing what aarons doing, and then I would find a curb that leads to grass directly and is the size of the curb you want to ollie up, and then I would try to stick both feet and ollie up it. Once you get the mental image that you can do it, then its a breeze. Just ollie up the curb. As another commenter said, Its usually commitment issues. Also once you get it you almost never clip the edge.
Ride along the curb pop some mollies
PopSoMollys
aaron is a very good teacher and he knows what exactly what the watchers are thinking
When i first started skating, this was the only thing i wanted to learn how to do. Then I learned it, and now I wanna kickflip.
Listen closely, at about 1:32 -1:33 when Aaron ollies the curb sound like someone said f***.
Heard it
+superjellyfish king i heard it
All you have to do is go try it. Your going to eat shit even if you follow this tutorial closely. Thats skateboarding
True
nice vid aaron it really helped a lot u r awesome
oh god i finally landed a ollie up a curb. it feels so great. i went straight on to it. i did not go at a angle. the only thing i would recommend is to have your ollies while moving down and to not be scared. you just have to go for it. you will eventually get it if you keep trying and not bitch out. once you realize that you can get up it you'll get it down and you will be able to do it a few more times.
how the f*** do you manage to do a 6min vid on a ollie tutorial.. This is so loop, like it could be max 1min, even that is much
how to ollie up a curb:
1. find a curb.
2. ollie on it.
saved u 6:14 of ur life
6:15 actually. The last second counts. Lol
Canyon Sellers actually 6:16
Dude 1:22:34
Whatever makes you feel comfortable with your feet and whatever team or skateboarder you are supporting is all up to you...
I ride a Carver mostly for surf training reason but man it would be really nice to be able to Ollie up a curb. Rolling off of a curb was honestly like the coolest thing when I learned that.
Thats crazy they actually made a video 4 THIS? Theres nothing easier on a board.lol
it's the commitment he talks some sense in to somebody who is too scared to try this
Lol 2 scared? Wtf? Its a god damn curb fam.Not a 20 set or the leap of faith.lol
Yea i agree, it's not that scary to commit to it
Ace Capone but if you're not sure if you get high enough and you're scared of clipping i think some people would have that problem
It's for beginners.
does anyone actually need this video?
Yes
yes
wow...
yes
wtf!?!?!? If you can ollie up 6 inches, you can do it up a curb. It's that simple. If you need a video to explain that to you maybe you should trade your board in for some blades or a scooter...
I watch this video even though I could ollie up a curb like two years ago that's how much I like ur videos!!
Hey Skate Fam I been skating on and off for about 2 1/2 weeks I learned ollie my first day by watching braille its crazy because it just popped up the channel like riding crazy things so after I been watching for a month or more i decided I wanted to do tricks i been riding a skateboard my whole life but never attempted trick but anyway I went to my boys yesterday and behind his house he has a broken metal light post and like a flat ramp in abandoned lot so I'm rolling down hill I say every 2 out 3 i was popping up but only landing with one or the one foot slides off I try like idk how many times I didn't get it but it felt good at least popping on to the curb so then we play a game of skate my boy tries BS 180 over the light post falls so then I try to just ollie over it first try got up and over but my tail got caught up at the end it kept happening but it felt good at least popping up and my boys encouraging me so I feel like I accomplished something in this short amount of time skating
youre going to fuck kids up and make them crash. dont tell them step by step how to do something so simple. youre telling kids to look at where there ollieing, always have your eyes on the obstacle? thrust your weight, turn, dont forget to..... no shit. your just going to fuck with these kids heads. all you need to do to teach someone to ollie up a curb is. get good at ollies on flatground then approach a curb at an angle. done. THE KIDS WHO WATCH THESE VIDEOS ARE GOING TO RIDE THERE SKATEBOARD UP TO A CURB THEN TRY TO GO IN ALL DIRECTIONS AT ONCE AND COLLAPSE. ALLLLL THANKS TO YOU. how do i turn my computer off? should i go at from a 90 degree angle with my right arm or do a few 360s and hit the power button with my left arm? god help youtube
Linuxx dumbass he even said to have good ollies before trying... This video is for extra tips and kids are gonna try it either way he's just helping them
One thing that helped me was trying to land on the edge of the curb first with my back trucks hanging off. Once I did that a few times I could land it.
Damn! that curb looks so perfect for slappies!
Thanks aaron...i been waiting for this tutorial...but it hard to find a good skate spot
Man I wish I had a skateboard. Doing this would be so fun, and a lot easier than walking to - and from school.
I learnt to ollie straight up. Now I will try both ways.
Sweeeeeeet awesome yeeeaaaahhh!!!!
0:58 "roll next to the curb and pop some mollys" i didn't know you rolled that way Aaron :o
SMS is actually extremely useful, even if you think you have the basics down, worth getting.
hi I have been watching your videos for a while now and your videos has helped me
I knew how to ollie over a 36" tall tennis net like 2 years ago and I'm watching. just because you know how doesn't mean reenforcement won't help.
Só queria um asfalto desse nível na minha cidade...
Camera from the top is cool you can see everything like foot position, sliding your foot up and timing
I dont even have a skateboard but i keep watching these videos :P
i ollied up a curb for the first time 8 years ago and i watched this whole thing
i remember being ecited to see a new upload and being motved to skate i still do but the time was so fun
thanks man just learnt it today and followed your steps and did it on my 5 try. thanks for the help
A lot of tricks are going to feel weird at first and are going to take a while to learn but if you work on them you will get them. It take most people a while to learn the basics like kickflips. Just keep working on them and them and you will learn them. Have fun :)
Actually Both is correct.
LEARN is the present tense, and the conjugated form of the verb "to learn".
It can be converted to the past tense in the following ways:
I LEARNED lots of things along the way. The main verb is "learned".
LEARNT is the "past participle" in the following sentences. (Past participles are used in conjunction with other verbs).
When I first started skating I always had trouble with the distance. Making sure I could get my back truck on.
