    I just wish they would create a full product stack using that BIOS. Just think about it, a $250 motherboard with that kind of user interface would be an instant success even if it's not the best for over-clocks.

      most OCs are limited by cooling solutions... any half-decent board with good VRMs should let you push your CPU to 99% of what you can achieve using ambient cooling, including water. We're not talking about HEDT systems here.

      I agree. If they came out with a full product stack, and even charged a little bit of a premium for that BIOS, people would throw money at them, me included.

    This layout makes more sense in terms of airflow.
    Almost every case has air intake on the front and it blows across the MB, but normally your ram blocks it near the CPU. I'm glad we get to see a new layout.

    • @yourhandlehere1
      @yourhandlehere1 Před 2 lety +3

      I just made my case more like a chimney, than a horizontal flow through. Those unused expansion slots under my 3080 now have an intake fan instead (double sided tape, mounted outside on back). Air coming in front and rear low, meets in middle, up the board and out the top. Heat wants to rise, help it do that instead of going sideways.
      I've got 8 Sickleflow fans packed in a Neo Air. My "hot spot" right now is 52c and fans set on "silent".

    • @TheArsenalgunner28
      @TheArsenalgunner28 Před 2 lety +7

      I mean this board must really suck if they think the VRMs need that sort of cooling. Most of the high quality mosfets are so efficient that even if you put 500W through them they'll lose less than 10% to thermal inefficiencies so that's 50W we're talking about.

      You can add a PCIe usb card if the only thing preventing you from buying it is usb io.

    I understand the excitement about Evga making an AMD motherboard but call me when they make a Radeon GPU. I've never had a problem with ASUS motherboards which I've used since the AMD Athlon "Game Cartridge" CPUs.
    BtW, ASUS just released a whole line (4 boards, from Crosshair VIII down) of new "Windows 11" compatible X570 motherboards...

    I would love to see an LN2 OC from der8auer from that board... This power delivery is, i would say more than enough...
    This board is clearly made for the extreme overclockers they go subzero! It has all Features to get some records done i think... 2 ram slots, a beefy amount of power delivery and cooling, ps2 for the keyboard at oc... Would love to get one of these... Amazing board!

    What I'm mostly interested in motherboards these days is actually how fast they can handle the mobo portion of boot time. With modern SSDs and a lightweight OS, the OS boots in 2 seconds flat... but only after a 30 seconds of combined POST, splashscreens and bootstrap time. We should be doing better, boot times are massively bottlenecked by the mobo now, not the hard drive, yet it's not even measured in reviews or sales specs.

      My 3900x boots in 8.4 seconds and my 5950x boots in 6.8 seconds so I'm not really seeing your point

    • @LordSoulSicarious
      @LordSoulSicarious Před 2 lety

      @@Klairity the point is that it's basically just a crapshoot, because there's no available data for this, and it can vary wildly between motherboards.

    • @Klairity
      @Klairity Před 2 lety

      @@LordSoulSicarious not that wildly, largest changes are better power delivery, better sound chip, extra connectors etc. from low end to high end of a lineup, they're all using the same chipset and lower number of phases is fine compared stock to stock, the beefed up power delivery is more for overclocking but a 5950x will boot in about the same time in any x570 motherboard.

    • @LordSoulSicarious
      @LordSoulSicarious Před 2 lety

      @@Klairity the big factor that you're missing is the BIOS/firmware of the mobo, and how quickly the physical hardware handles POST. A faster CPU will process all the boot stuff faster, and can hugely improve OS boot performance (though not as much as the boot media performance) but that's just one factor. I want to know, for a given CPU, which mobos will result in faster or slower boot times.

    This RAM explanation makes me feel better about the fact I'm running one stick in each channel in my asus ws ace x570. I had four matching sticks but it wouldn't work with all or even the usual single pairing, but now I guess at least I'm getting the best stability and latency I can get.

    6:55 Power is different than signal traces on a pcb, you can have sections of an entire layer, or even the whole layer dedicated to a specific voltage. With as complicated as motherboards are, I would expect them having many power layers with many different voltages. So most of the time you don't have "traces" running around with power, you can tap into a power layer with a via(conductive through hole) so long traces aren't needed. Having multiple entire layers dedicated to power and ground helps with all of the important high speed signals by shielding them from crosstalk and other bad stuff. With how fast CPU's and RAM are now, that is really critical.They probably moved the connector just to have them all next to each other for cleaner routing of cables.
