    If you can't afford a CR7000, the CR70 works great as well as is usually a lot cheaper. I love mine and have used it a ton. These tools are a must for anyone serious about arcade stuff. By the way, love the videos and what you do for the community, John.

    Even thought the old picture had burn-in I had a feeling it didn't look as good as the new one, and I could tell that through only a video taken of it. Always fascinating watching you do this stuff John, rather you than me though if I'm honest! I mean I'd love to own cabs myself but it's a huge undertaking once you get into it; you've caused me to realise that! ;)

    Great episode! I had not known that this tube-rejuvination tool ever existed, and it's cool that it has sockets that match rather than having to use alligator clips, heheh. But you know, I wish you would revisit this because I was hoping to see that you would show us video of what's happening *on* the front of the tube while you were doing this! Will you do that for us, please? Would we see *anything* on it without the anode cup hooked up? Have you ever looked at the screen while doing it? Will you try it one with the cup still attached?

    I got a cr7000 and I have a couple tubes that are dim. I have followed the instructions in the manual but have seen strange results with the low cut off test. When I do that test none of the bars move. Did gentle restores and the tubes look better but the low cut off tests still show nothing. Wonder if something is wrong with my cr7000 that is making the test report no reading? I can still return it as I just got it.

    This was opposite to what I've seen with mine and Turbo's. We usually get low tracking but ignore that (usually 3 knobs end up full) and then emission readings are so-so. Hit the guns a few times and the tracking still sucks but the emission levels are all 3/4+ Reinstall and monitor is much improved.

    Most monitors have small corrective stick on magnets to correct color purity issues
    if you replace a tube these wont be there or will be in the wrong place
    if one is careful not to shock ones self , you can use a weak refrigerator magnet or magnets on the back of the tube to fix color purity issues,
    First, you need some thin flexible magnet material. Not too strong, typically fridge magnet strength. A strip of flexible magnet can be purchaed in Home Depot or a craft section used for making picture frames etc.
    The idea here is to use the magnets on the back side of the monitor to compensate for the area that is not pure. Experiement by moving the magnet along the back side of the glass tube. The closer to the center (yoke), the more compensation. Turn and spin the magnet until the blotch goes away and then glue the magnet in place.
    You may see other magnets already glued in place by the factory. Use that as a guide for size and location.
    Again - do this with the monitor OFF and wait 15 minutes between each attempt so that high voltage is discharged. Do all adjustments to the monitor in the position where the game will reside or you’ll be chasing your tail.

    I have a monitor that seems to have lost the red all together. Would this Sencore CR7000 be able to bring that red back into the tube?

    • @Johnsarcade
      @Johnsarcade  Před 10 lety

      It's possible. You need to figure out if the issue is the tube or the monitor chassis. You could have a bad color drive transistor or pot that is causing the red to go away. More likely that then the tube.

      +John's Arcade Game Reviews & Tech The fact is you use it just the way he said.... you massage the tube. • @stevelarkins7002

      +John's Arcade Game Reviews & Tech When using the degaus coil you need to move the coil away from the crt until the rainbow effect dissapears. If you release the switch within range of the crt you are just magentising the shadow mask. Also rejuvinating tubes makes them weaker so it is a last resort option. Nice videos

  • @sepertude
    @sepertude Před 7 lety

    You made several mistakes. First you never restore videogame monitors because they work all the time and 95% of cases you cant restore them. TV that sits for a while get restored often.
    Second you just had problem with RED cut off, should try to restore only RED, since your RED cutoff regulator on the right side was on max while others are not. Sencore compare all 3, if one has to be turned way on a lot and others not it gives you bad light on.
    Also whenever you have bad cut-off rarly you can restore it. The only thing you can restore it bad emision, others are just more for testing purposes.
    And lastly when you restore tube you have to wait 1 minute until it heats-up and get temperature up, than press restore button, not right away as you did.
    And last, if you do this often try to get Muter BMR2005, its way better and more sucessful than Sencore.
