    Why they not simply use am HDMI cable

    • @extraordinarydave
      @extraordinarydave Před 4 lety

      because USB is needed to utilize the room's display, mic, speakers and camera. HDMI can only do the room's display.

      Because this is a single-cord solution. just using one cable which is USB that includes both functions of HDMI and USB.

      @@extraordinarydave @Azim Rahman Hii Do you know if there is an alternative and less expensive solution? A specific dock? I installed Logitech Meetup and hdmi TVs in a few rooms and it's not easy to manage with 2 cables (Hdmi and USB A), do you think it's possible to install a dock to have a one and only USB C cable to connect to laptops?

      @@extraordinarydave Thanks for your quick response! I hadn't installed any docks thinking there would be compatibility issues with old windows PCs (USB C 3.0) and MACs etc. And I preferred to give users small adapters HDMI to mini HDMI and USB A to USB C. No worries on your side with the dock, all users are satisfied? If the docks work very well I wonder what is the use of Logitech's Swytch :/

    Excellent! @logitech What happens when you have 2 TV setup for the TAP/Rally kit? Will the Swytch work but present only on Screen 1 (this would be fine), or will the Swytch not work at all?
    I have several clients where I have built basically the same setup, but using 3rd party docks etc. which can be accomplished for 10% of the price. But, they don't co-exist with the Tap room system switching between the 2 solutions automatically, plus the small USB-C docks often burn out after a while since they are not made to be on 24/7.

    This solution allows to work with android and IOS devices too ?

    Works well but flawed badly as you cannot buy a replacement 'Y' cable for this device, so when a user breaks the USB part (and they will) you need to replace the whole lot at £900 or so. Well done Logitech, great idea. Stick with Poly or Crestron if you dont want a pending disaster.

    What happens when two devices connect to the same cable, one via USB-A and the other via the USB-C? Have you built in any protections for when that happens?

    • @brianbatko4911
      @brianbatko4911 Před 4 lety +1

      The USB-A and C are on the same connector end and it would be physically impossible to connect both.

      @simuk Před 4 lety

      @@brianbatko4911 I've got USB extension cables, as may people will have, and using such a cable suggests if I connected one to the connector, it'd physically allow USB-A and USB-C to be connected to different devices at the same time.
