I was there and when he screamed I literally shut down.
I went camping about 15 years ago after a vicious divorce and played this song non-stop on my iPod for a couple weeks. It was very healing.
There's something about this that's so intrinsically unique. No tempo, no instruments, and yet its so deeply analogue, primal and completed. I'm absolutely convinced that not a person I've ever met has heard anything that sounds anything like this before.
Love this song. Captures winter isolation and recharging perfectly.

Bon Iver is seriously something else. The fact that Justin Vernon can coordinate this performance LIVE is outlandish. Amidst the tuning of his voice, his yelling grabs my emotions and explodes them. One of the most creative artists of our time. wow.

It’s so human. Someone having their life slowly fall apart as they fight to keep it together. But it never works, time marches on and the only constant is change. Eventually we can’t fight anymore and accept it.
I saw Bon Iver perform in London a year ago and they immediately started with Woods, what Justin brought to the stage at that moment was sublime. I can’t quite put it into words, but a wave of emotions just hit me and I started tearing up. His stage presence is so beautiful and powerful.
