    Why is it none of these interviewers seems to know that humans lived, worked, loved, fought, raised kids, and died on that land? Thousands of people lived their entire lives there. They still do. So yes, it's not exactly hospitable by postmodern standards, but like most of the landmass on Earth, people figured it out.

      @leonb4862Hey! Thank you so much for turning me on to that video essay. It's phenomenal. As are the handful of other video essays I've now watched on that channel. I don't often watch that type of stuff anymore because there's nothing gratifying about watching a video essay on a film by someone who doesn't only miss the point, but doesn't feel they need to present one themselves either. I was particularly struck by the essay on "Arrival" as well. Although I don't agree with everything presented in it, I could be wrong. Or we could both be right. Regardless, it's wonderful to engage with such thoughtful, well-developed perspectives.
