If Iâm not mistaken, SO HYANG was diagnosed with cancerâŠafter surviving the ordeal she saw her second chance at life as a gift from God and dedicated her voice/life to brining joy to othersâŠshe is a gospel singer who grew up singing in church and she rejected international fame choosing instead to sing only for Jesus and to raise money for charity. This is why I believe we feel so much from her singing...its from above and real.

Yesss, So Hyang is phenomenal. Iâd say sheâs easily the best female vocalist currently alive because her technique is virtually flawless and her upper register and head voice are pretty much the best in the world right now. And the fact that she can hit and sustain resonant Bb5s (like in this performance) and beyond (up to C#6) with a fully balanced mixed voice is incredible. I have yet to hear anyone else who can sing with a balanced mix so high with so much resonance and clarity and not strain, raise the larynx, or break. Sheâs truly incredible. You should check out âBridge Over Troubled Waterâ and âEveryoneâ next by her.

random dude Morissette is a great young up and coming talent, but sheâs not even close to competing with So Hyang yet. So Hyang is better at low notes, upper register, and head voice while Mori and her a pretty much equal in middle register. Morissette also has whistle register, but thatâs not important when comparing abilities as whistle register doesnât require support or resonance, just ease and pitch accuracy, which Morissette still struggles with. Could Morissette one day reach So Hyangâs level? Surely she could although sheâd never surpass since So Hyang is pretty much as good as a singer can possibly get. But currently, the evidence is in the supported ranges:
So Hyangâs consistently supported range is G3-C#6-E6 (2 octaves, 5 notes with a chest/mix range of 2 octaves, 3 notes and a semitone)
Morissetteâs supported range is A3-C#5-F5 (1 octave, 5 notes with a chest/mix range of 1 octave, 2 notes and a semitone)
Morissette isnât even the closest to matching So Hyang as thereâs other young vocalists who have better support like:
Son Seung Yeon: G3-F#5-G5 (2 octaves with a chest/mix range of 1 octave, 7 notes and a semitone)
and
Dimash: D3-E4-B5 (2 octaves, 5 notes with a chest/mix range of 1 octave, 1 note).
Morissette is really good and has lots of potential, but sheâs in a similar technical boat as someone like Ariana, meaning sheâs quite a bit behind So Hyang. So Hyang is arguably top 5 of all time. Morissette isnât even top 10 currently alive.

It's a very meaningful traditional Korean music for Koreans. It's a song that incorporates all their emotions. "Arirang Alone" sung by Sohyang always makes my heart hot and tear up. Koreans will relate to my story. I'm thrilled that this song resonates beyond Korea to the rest of the world.
Sohyang actually said that she sometimes teared up while practicing that song. Wow I respect her more after you explained about emotional control in singing bcs she's able to hold herself together while performing this! :D

Please also review and analyze "Fate" (very nice and traditional like this one, nice runs and dynamics and amazing powerful belts and long climaxes), "Lean On Me" (combination of agile runs, dynamics, amazing transitions and insane upper belts), "Bridge Over Troubled Water" (starts off with angelic head voice like Arirang, turns into a powerful song with loud, resonant belts where she demonstrates her use of compression), "Dream" (her own song, one of her hardest. Phrased high notes in mix with trills and complex runs and sustained head voice high note at the end), "Mona Lisa" (a rock song, incredibly difficult), Breathe, Do You Know, Dear Love (some of her most beautiful ones)
