Falling off a 30 foot cliff! Hitting a Gnarly Trail for the first time / May 13, 2024

- We headed to OC and shuttled the Steeps. On the 3rd lap we decided to hit a new trail. It was my first time. It's really loose and steep but definitely had a blast. Half way down the trail Luis over sent a step down, missed a turn and fell off the cliff. He dropped 30 feet and luckily landed on top of a tree that softened his landing. It was a miracle he didn't get hurt. It was a ride I won't forget
“You should re-fluff the tree for the next guy who falls off the cliff…” 😆

Damn, gave me ptsd, glad he's okay, myself went off a 80 ft cliff north of Ojai riding my bike ,glad my buddies were riding otherwise I wouldn't be here. Spent 3 months in Cottage hospital in Santa Barbara and glad I can still walk and keep riding bikes.

Handguards are your friend! They may look NOT so cool, but its WAY better than getting a bunch of thorns stuck in your hands! 🤣 And no matter how HOT it gets, ALWAYS wear pants!🤙

Btw... S.C. Dogpark SUCKS right now. WAY to overgrown with weeds! The weeds even covers the actual ground; so it's hard to see if you are riding on a solid surface... let alone snakes! 🐍🐍🐍
More suitable for skill level? 😂 We hit these trails every week, if you are talking about trail 3 it was our first time so we had to check everything off. There was not 1 feature we didn't hit and Luis only crashed because he over sent a step down. We have hot trails way more gnarly than that
Its very easy to ride and never crash all you need to do is ride the same trails over and over and never push yourself to go faster or hit bigger features. I don't knock people that do that but that's not me, I don't do that on the bike, I don't do that in business or my life. I always push myself to get better. There will be times that I fall and I'm OK with that because I will always get back up.

And I KNOW FOR DAMN SURE that you guys are WAY better riders than I am. And I, too, ride the same trails that you guys do. (Well, some of the trails that you guys do... 😉... again-smiley wink). My favorite saying as a mountain biker since the early 90's is, "If you don't fall once in while, you're not trying hard enough." NO offense to you AT ALL! I think you guys ROCK! STAY SAFE!
@skiMTB sorry if I came in hot 🙏 I just seen comments like this a ton when I first started riding and they weren't joking. I always used it as motivation to get better and I know most of them were just haters that knock me to feel better about themselves for not having the balls to ride those trails.

Like I said, you guys ride MUCH harder trails than I'd ever try! For what it's worth, "Dragons back" at the end of Las Ramblas is about as rowdy as I wanna ride, and you guys ride MUCH harder on a regular basis. O.K... enough stroking of the... 🤙🤣
