When Abdul says ‘and the luckiest people are the ones whose parents are still with them’ I cried because it is 100% truth. Both my parents have passed away and I would give anything to have them both back. My mother only passed last year and I have cried everyday since.

I too was with my father when he passed. He took his last breath at 5:20AM, August 7th, 2006. I've also said the same thing quite often. "He was there when I came into this world and I was with him when he left this world". And as those final moments were for me, it was the greatest honor I will even experience. He was my best friend and I miss him dearly.

My face hurts from the crying. I lost both parents in 2020 and was all alone for the most part. First my mom, I have so much guilt. It was not unexpected, but it was to me because I didn't know she was that bad. No one told me anything. I never got to see her after she passed either. It's like she is still back at their house. My dad died a few days shy of his birthday on New Years Eve. I rushed up to be with him as he was put into surgery. The doctor and staff held off until I could get there (I was two hours away). He was kind of loopy. He came out of surgery on life support and I had to make the decision alone. I'm still alone 3 yrs later and can't process losing them. It hurts so bad! Thank you for this. It let me get out a tiny bit of the toxic anger and hurt I let live inside me.

Chacha’s story about having to share the food he had while away with his father touched my heart because this morning I walked with my grandson through the woods to the coffee shop, I let him choose a doughnut, and he asked (as he always does) to cut in half so he could bring half home for Daddy.

That's so touching, I also like you remember that we call him by Chacha out of respect. He has been very close to all of us but specially me as he was ill and I was able to look after his medical needs with the help of my father who is a doctor himself. Chacha probably noticed that I sometimes walk ahead of my dad but that's normal in my family while to his community it's an offense and disrespect to elders.

The lyrics "I'm not your son, you're not my father" means to me that in this moment they are equals. Father used to guide and teach his son about the world, but now that he's older and learned, he's in the position that his father was in; and so the cycle of life begins anew, as it goes with every generation. I sense respect in those particular lyrics.

My father abandoned my family when my brother and I were very young. We never knew the love of a father. Our lives were very hard because of this, we were left vulnerable to abuse and neglected. But this touches my heart and I am grateful to feel through this song and through seeing men who love and protect their children the beauty and importance of the role of fathers. Thank you. ❤

When James’ father had to go away to a conflict, he would tell his very young son these words: “I’m not your father, you’re not my son, we’re just two grown men saying good-bye.” It implied that no matter how much time would pass, his father would come home. That’s why James is singing the same words to his dad. His dad was sick when James sang this song to him. A distant cousin saw the video and contacted the family. His kidney was a perfect match so he gave one of his kidneys to James’ dad.

Last night, my 4-year-old daughter asked me if I was going to die someday. I told her that everyone dies eventually, but that's why we have to make the most out of every moment we're alive! She asked me if she'd still have all the photos of her and I so that she'd never forget what I look like, and of course I said, "yes! That's why I take so many photos of you and I! You'll never forget me." I don't know what made her think about that, but I suffer from clinical depression and mental health issues so I had just been quietly sitting there feeling sorry for myself and wondering if anyone would actually miss me when I die only the night before. Maybe she picked up on it? Either way, it really put things into perspective for me. Giving birth to my daughter and being her mother are the greatest accomplishments of my life. I'm so proud to be her mom!

because in their culture, as it is in mine, it's disrespectful for aman to think he's equal to his father in any measure. I used to walk a step behind my father out of respect and to his right, did so ever since I became a teenager and until I reached 40 and he passed away.

  • @dorenandsara
    @dorenandsara Před rokem +29

"Monsters" comes from children in the USA who think that there are monsters under the bed at night. Father or mother comes in and chases the monsters away. Now, the son is the one who is "chasing the monsters away". The son has to be the strong one. Their roles are reversed. It is not father (strong) and son (weak). They are just two men saying good bye.
According to James Blunt: 'Monsters' is a eulogy to my father - except he’s still alive and kicking. But he’s not been well - his kidneys are functioning at just 11%. “And with that realisation, I needed to tell him that, to me, he’s more than just a father. He’s my friend too, and that I love him.”

I am in tears while writing these words. Plz let him now this! Well, English is not my language, I try to tell you that I don't know my father, have never seen him. I grew up as a bastard in my family and so they called me. Spaghetti-Bastard, because he was an Italian. My mother gave a shit on me. She always said things to hurt me. Like "put your hair over your ears, or I don't go out on the street with you". My ears look like elephant ears... she also said my birth was 5 minutes before midnight, so I have only 5 minutes birthday, and she said that my brothers got christn with champaign and I was only christn with water. Everyday over 20 years I was bullied by my own blood. And while looking several of your videos I always fell in love with Muharam's reactions. I cry everytime, thinking THIS is the way a father has to be and I am so so sad, that I don't know how it feels to be loved by parents. Let Muharams children know how lucky they are. You have to know that you re not alone, you're not like your mother and if you can find it, get help to extract all the malicious things about yourself she told you everyday. It's hard to disown our only parent, to break away from them, it's heartbreaking and a grieving process, but it's also a necessity, a real renaissance. You are your own. The beginning of a new tree, full of respect and love. You're the seed, the reparation. What has been done to you will never be undone, never. But you will treat yourself and the kid inside of you as you wish your parents had treated you. You are the change. Love to you, strengh, hope and tenderness. Always.

James sang this as a farewell to his father ( in the video with James) as he was diagnosed with kidney disease. All hope was fading when a cousin of theirs came forward and donated a kidney. His father is doing well. This was done in one take and at the end everybody was in floods of tears apart from his father. He said Why is everybody crying I am still here. They both served in the army and saw conflict.

Well, and no one writes songs about the bad ones...what becomes of a child which don't know what love is? If you feel broken all tell you to make a therapy, never ever I heard that someone said the mistreating parents should go and make a therapy. They never get punished for their behavior. Killing souls is no "crime"....

After a long struggle with cancer. My father died in the room next to me overnight.
I prayed every night, that the lord would take him home, i didnt want to see him suffering.
In the morning i kissed his lifeless forehead as we found him.
And said , God bless you.

The eyes are the doorway to the soul. These men, have no idea what he is singing, but they see the pain in his eyes and they feel it as well. You can see they sympathy and sorrow in their eyes as they listen. Pain and heart ache don't know language, don't know borders and don't know color, it is universal and anyone who is normal can see it.

It's one of those songs that really transcends all cultural barriers.

Both James and his father were in the military. The lines “I’m not your son, you’re not my father, we’re just two grown men saying goodbye” will probably sound weird to an outsider of the family, let alone a country. These are the words they’d say to each other when they had to part ways, due to the army. It’s a british way of keeping things unemotional yet still close, to make a joke or distance of things. But they both know the meaning is really ‘we’re father and son and I will miss you very much.’ James uses it in the song coz he’s not just singing it to us, he’s mainly singing to his father, his father would get the meaning more.
