Simmers are unable to play The Sims 4 due to some issue. It does work for some in offline mode but many players are left frustrated as they cannot access The Sims 4 at all!

Sorry to hear this. I have complained to EA in the past about the offline feature not being available unless you go online first - a problem when you live in a rural area with unreliable internet. I pointed out that Steam and other game launchers allow offline mode but EA's forum rep tried to argue that it wasn't the case with Steam or other launchers - I didn't bother continuing the conversation/feedback at that point. It was clear EA or their rep were only interested in justifying their app rather than fixing it or addressing issues with it. They are hostile to customers problems, criticism and or suggestions.
They literally offered it for their last app.
I’ve been reporting them to the better business bureau for this exact reason as well.
I have PHYSICAL copies of my sims 4 game and still can’t play without internet.

When sims 4 first came out it was not a requirement to use this busted app. They’ve quite literally robbed me of at least a thousand-and MILLIONS of others.

I wish EA would hire SpinningPlumbobs so he could implement his "better mermaids" mod into the game itself :D everyone knows they need an overhaul and his mod is fantastic!! I really wish they would hire all the amazing modders out there to fix their game.
Honestly, let's just hope Paralives and Life by you are good games. Best thing to do in this point is just get another life sim game that has nothing to do with EA.

The game being online is probably so they can analize players data and patterns of gameplay "to optimize player spending patterns and minimize player churn" as most games nowdays do.
The EA app itself is very bad tho. For me it keep login off automatically and login on in another account I do not use completely by itself and it happened sometimes that it would simply not open. The app breaking now (again) it's not a surprise to me 😂
I'm literally so tired of it logging me out at random. I keep the box that says stay logged in checked and it's like they just overlook it.

I always have checked the "keep log in" box and it's as if it didn't existed, I have to log in everytime I use it 😭
still makes 0 sense because why do games like the sims 3 SUDDENLY REQUIRE BEING CONNECTED. like i can't play sims 3 either because their app decided to not register it as being installed. i'm so close to just pirating it all
A fix that might work for some people is to open Task Manager, find the task called "EA Background Service" and end this task. After restarting the EA app, it should work again.

@@kimberlymiller7481 Try recovering your app first. Recover your app (click the 3 lines > Help > App Recovery), then do the Task Manager steps. End Sims 4 and the EA App if they're running, and scroll down to end EA Background Services.
Was gonna say it worked after a few restart app refreshes, but no it's giving me network error messages. 🙃
nope still doesn't show none of my games past one i got VIA STEAM. cuz apparently that one still registers BECAUSE UNLIKE EA APP STEAM ACTUALLY WORKS

As someone who lives in an area with very inconsistent internet coverage, this game so often refusing to work when offline is beyond annoying. Can't play, can't even test mods. It puts a hamper to everything up to and including peace of mind. There's something ridiculous about having to stress over whether the game will even load in the first place when it's not possible to be online every single moment.
Unironically download a pirated version. It comes with an offline toggle and you aren’t forced to update.
damn, i found a very good pirated version that makes installing each update and dlc very easy, on the spot, without downloading future links. ive been using it for YEARS now and im so grateful

i can't even play the sims 3 rn cuz the app doesn't recognize it as being installed. IT IS IN FACT INSTALLED AND I"VE ALREADY REINSTALLED IT ONCE BECAUSE THEIR APP WOULDN"T ALLOW ME TO DOWNLOAD A PACK. i'm this close from uninstalling everything and just pirating that shit
The EA app worked wonders when it was Beta. I guess that was EA scamming their users once again because i swear to you i started to use the Beta app because Origin was a pain for me, but when Origin disappeared the EA app just became trash
I haven't played The Sims in a little over a year. Life just got in the way. I want to play now that I have a PC again. So I can't play on Origin anymore??
I had the opposite happen. Origin worked very well and the beta EA app was always having problems. In beta, the EA app ininstalled an expansion for sims 3. Now that we're out of beta and forced, it did almost the same thing again except it was 2 expansions and different ones.

I suspect they’re just generally terrible at handling volume. A handful of people on EA App and most on Origin? EA App works better. Move most people to EA App and leave a small subset on Origin? Origin works better. 🤣
no u cannot. u have to login into EA app and its really glitchy and doesnt work at all most of the times. it worked for me after 2 days after which it shut down the servers again so I stopped playing. It will though encourage u to crack the game, cause with crack you can access the library easily, play offline and dont get interrupted by server connection. you can play seemlessly. so definetely EA is stupid company. To be honest, I like the white mic! I didn't actually see the mic at all until you pointed it out, so it's cool to see it blend into the wall

I rarely ever, ever had any problems with the Origin app. EA has been a pain in the butt from the beginning - constant problems. BTW: Like your glasses, look nice on you, and also rather like the white mic, blends into your white walls and is not screaming "Hey, look at me" like the other one. Thanks for the update, didn't even know about it till now. Jeeezzzz.................

I completely agree.
The NEW EA interface keeps shutting down while I'm playing, making me shut down. Then, when I log out of the game, I have to log back into the app, which suddenly can't find my library or remember my user name it asked me if i wanted it to remember the last time I logged in.
($1000+ game, guys)
With origin, I could play without being online, but not once I was forced to move to EA... and it's soooo laggy that once it does find my library, it can take nearly 30 minutes to load, and by then I'm no longer interested in playing.
If they were going for people who buy the game to not play it, they are nailing it. Soon, they will succeed in us not even buying it. At this point, I have no faith in Sims 5.
I find that having a dedicated laptop and not logging out (I GL into sleep mode) is the best course of action if I want to pick up where I left off. This shouldn't be a thing.

Given how many broken, bug-riddled packs they release and never fix, In surprised anyone pays for any of it... there's no incentive to make good, functional products if the consumer will buy broken ones at full price! There are only a few things I suggest pirating these days, but TS4 is one of them. Then you can play without supporting those who would continue to gladly rip off those who love this franchise. EA has been super scummy about TS4, and I don't super scummy corporations who prey on people when I can help it.

Same thing for me. When I started playing the Sims 4, I also kept facing this issue and just decided to not shut down my laptop if I still want to play the game. If I exit the game, I would need a stable internet connection to log into the app before I can play it again despite choosing the "remember me" option.🙄
How EA got so big: buy successful games, milk them for money until they die because getting milked is not nice for customers, repeat. It's really lucrative it seems.
It’s unfortunately what’s happening to media in general more and more. Franchises aren’t being seen as art or beloved entertainment, they’re just commodities for brands to run into the ground in attempt to make as much money as possible with as little effort as they can put in.

Because millions of people continue to funnel them money with every broken pack they release! That's functionally endorsing what they do and how badly they treat their fans. Piracy exists. Don't support a company that doesn't respect you, or your time. Money (and the lack thereof) is the only thing they understand!

what finally resolved it for me was to uninstall/reinstall the game and then clear the cache in the EA app. things i tried that didn't work.... clear the cache before the reinstall, reinstall the ea app, go offline, run the updater from the EA file in programs, full shutdown of laptop. Hope this helps someone. reinstalls take forever!
oh and i always run the EA app as an admin.

They did acknowledge it!! I’m not a fan of the EA app and I was stuck in an update loop this morning, but I saw the devs had uploaded a fix (three fix options actually). The first one (deleting the ea cache) worked for me. Simple google search got me back in the game quickly this morning. I just had to back up my save and mods before doing the fix! It did end up deleting my mods so good thing I backed it up.
I’m trying right now, cause I still can’t open my game. This is so frustrating.

As someone who never uses the gallery anyway, I really don’t understand why I can’t play the game offline. I’ve had this problem for a long time already and it really destroys my enjoyment while playing
I'm glad that I found this video. Two months later, and Sims 4 still won't work for me. I bought extra GB, I deleted some of my mods (it was painful), I repaired, I uninstalled and installed the game, I restarted EA. Nothing. Thanks, EA.
I wish the EA app had wishlist like I had on Origin so I can see all the packs I don't have yet. When there is a sale I can see which ones I am interested in to buy.
To Play offline, you first have to go offline in the EA app, then you have to Exit the EA app, and make sure it's not running in the background. Then you have to deactive your internet. THEN you can open the game in offline mode. If there's acces to the EA app, or the internet before you hit the sims 4 icon, it wont work. You can turn on your internet again, once the game have launched. - You'll need a The Sims 4 deskop icon, to bypass the EA app play button, to start the game.
Digital downloading has been a nightmare to me since it became popular. I just don't like throwing my money at something that I have to rely on the Internet for, and I always feel like my digital library could get wiped away at any moment. Essentially robbing me of hundreds heck even thousands of dollars worth of games.
I miss the days of disks. I know they were a pain in there own way, but I miss the days of just being able pop one in and play, and also I was a total nerd about collecting game cases lol.

Two things. First, the glasses look really good on you. Second, you can play the game through steam with no problems. I was having issues this morning with the EA app and just unistalled the game, and installed it through steam.

I encountered the same issue 4 hours ago but for some miracle I was able to get in? I turned off my laptop, turned it on again and luckily the update didn't appear so I could play normally.
But I'm always furious when there's no official statement, like come on, they created an official Twitter for that and ffs they never tweet anything while the issue is happening.
This is why I am pleased to be playing on Mac--on Origin. My heart does go out to those stuck on the EA app.

I play on Mac and I was having so many issues yesterday 😭 the game was so glitchy and just kept freezing. I spent HOURS just trying to get the game to work

Before I even thing about trying to do anything with The Sims I always hit the EA Updater first, then I pick the app. Most of the time I don't have any problems, but I'm not a fan of the app at all. I don't know if we just got used to Origins so trying to figure out a different set up is just annoying or just annoying with some wonkiness with it. I didn't have any trouble getting into my game today. The only thing I notices is that the app did seem to be a bit sluggish.

I discovered that my pc, wich i use for school, could run the sims 4. I decided ti download it and import my ps4 datas and purcharses, just to discover that EA doesn’t make it possible. Such a great job EA…

I just got off my laptop after playing for like 2 hours. I had no issues either. Game was relatively fine compared the the normal glitchy-ness I usually experience. I wonder why it’s broken for some people and not others. Or maybe I’ll have issues next time I try to play 😮

This happened to me just a few weeks ago and I opened a case with EA saying £250 worth of games had just gone and they just marked my case as "fixed" and left no reply and it was literally the exact same. I'm really so sick of EA and so upset cause I don't want to give them any more money but also all my sims games I've collected over the past 7/8 are just gone. I tried the forum fixes but nothing worked.

I THOUGHT IT WAS JUST ME!! Literally spent 3 hours today trying to make it work and it just wouldn't load no matter what I did! Glad it's not just me 💀💀💀
I also encountered an issue today. It was indicated that the Sims 4 required an update, but the "update required" status did not go away after updating the game, and the game would not start. I tried restarting my pc, logging out of EA and logging back in, clearing the app cache, and none worked. Then, I found the EAUpdater in the Program Files/Electronic Arts/EA Desktop/EA Desktop and updated the app. That resolved my issue and I got to play. It may work for some of the problems you're encountering.
Apparently there was an earthquake that may have caused a lot of server issues?
California also just got hit by a tropical storm last night so that could be causing problems too.

Not surprised servers are being iffy.

Oh! This happened to me months ago. They made me update to the new EA app and it just doesn't work anymore. I havent been able to play the sims for months 😀
To be clear, I think mine is a different bug, it's not that the Sims isn't working, it's the actual app that doesn't work anymore for me

This is one of the things that annoy me the most. Why do I have to be online to sign in to Origin just to play a game that I already paid for? So if I don't have internet I can't play a game even though I paid hundreds of dollars for it? Great job EA!

It's not just The Sims 4 players that suffers from this horrid app, even The Sims 3 players suffered as well. EA CrAPP was such a disaster. EA doesn't really care about their playerbase and they forced ppl who uses Origin to their stupid app. Glad they didn't force mac players on their app, but it's no excuse for forcing PC players to their crAPP.

Eye Lid scrubs in the morning and at night, warm heat compress for 10-20 minuets at night, prescription eyedrops called Restasis and lubricating eyedrops by biotrue - hydration boost all has helped me. It's a pain in the butt and alot of work 😂😂😂😂😂

Wanted to play some sims a few mins before bed. Ended up mad as fuck over an hour past my bedtime not even having managed to open the ea-app because it sucks ass. Is the WORST app I have EVER used. How can they be THIS incompetent and immoral.

I was forced to get the EA App a couple of months ago after a huge update.I stopped playing about a month ago because the EA App keeps forcing me to sign in online in order to play offline. I play offline because we don't have the best wifi and there's really no point to play the Sims online all the time. I was going to see if I could make Astarion since I don't have a gaming pc or PS5 yet for Baldur's Gate 3 😂 Time to test it out and see if the app really is broken for me rn

After they closed Origin, I refused to transfer to the EA app since I heard that it was laggy/having shutdowns so this news isn't new to me. I rather they just go back to the Origin app.

I had the week from hell trying to fix it recently! I was ready to throw my laptop through the window until someone told me it was working through Steam and it could read my purchases if I linked my account.
EA should have stuck to Origin, if Valve can keep Steam up, running, and FUNCTIONAL for 10+ years, why the hell couldn’t they?
Literally only going to use the EA app to buy the Sims packs and maybe play some Dragon Age with mods that are easier to do on computer than on console when it should have been an app for, ya know, being able to PLAY one of EA’s flagship franchises. At this point, if it burns to the ground, I’m getting the popcorn and marshmallows.
it really is madness that you have to be online 24/7 to play a single player game. I remember when I was growing up I had a computer that couldn't go online at all because the port was fried, and it was fine since I just wanted to play games and do homework. And now that would be borderline unmanageable!
I think this is EA performing a social experiment. They sell broken packs and people still buy them, let's see if they keep on buying even when they cannot even enter the game 😂😂😂

Once again glad I have a Mac…it’s still Origin and I have no intention of changing. Also, somehow Origin discovered that I owned all of the Sims 3 on CD for Windows…and now I can play Sims 3 on my Mac!! Yay!!! Haven’t played it in 10 years, looking forward to having fun playing Sims!

I've refused to switch from Origin to this monstrosity of an app so I haven't been able to play The Sims 3 in months, thankfully I had The Sims 2 unlinked from Origin via LazyDuchess' RPC Launcher so I can still play it but I do miss The Sims 3 and my horses.

I rebooted my computer when it kept wanting to update the Sims 4. It worked for me then. It does suck that I cannot play offline. You can't play offline because it only allows you to INSTALL on multiple computers. If you try to run the Sims 4 on 2 different computers at the same time, it will close one on you.
I just played sims 4 a couple of hours ago without issue but I've read tons of messages in the EA HELP forums about this. I guess I just was lucky then. Obviously I'm not gonna try it again now because I don't wanna risk any file.
Some weeks ago all my sims 4 games just dissapeared from my EA app library and I had to found the solution just by myself because the EA's reply to my message "I've tried THESE STRATEGIES and noone works" was exactly the same strategies I wrote on my own frist message as "I'm wrtiting for help because any of these things I've already tried is working to fix the problem."
Maybe is time to stop buing anything from them.
I also got a bug where the app couldn't see that my game was already installed and telling me that it's someone else's copy and that I have to download another one. Sometimes log out and in helps, sometimes it fixes itself, but sometimes nothing can cure it and I have to reinstall the whole game.
Cute glasses btw, they suit you more than you think. You look pretty with them.
