It's not upgraded
Firstly, it wasn’t upgraded at that point, and secondly, you use explosive bolts or lightning bolts with it for the best efficiency.
When it's upgraded it's very deadly when you shove it in someone's face just beyond melee range. (useful more for pvp in my opinion)

just in case people for people that dont know this "strat": you have to repeat the luring, poisoning, hiding process each phase
its a real stupid cheese but hey at least you dont have to kill gael with a bow

Gundyr is actually doable without the fog gate glitch. Just parry him before shooting your arrow and the counter damage will let you kill him with some arrows to spare
Well you can't parry with a bow so if you parry him to death it might disqualify the run
@@idontknow8205 You can parry him with your bare hands, and I'm pretty sure that happens in at least one of these bow-only runs
You'd have to be completely bare-fisted in both hands, since one-handing a weapon and pressing L2 uses the weapon art. Then, switching back to the bow and two-handing it likely runs out your counter frame timer, let alone drawing and shooting. The concept is there, but it's too slow to reap the maximum benefit :(
@@amberhernandez It's actually possible. I know because I did it before as part of my own bow-only run. Tight though, but you don't need to hit EVERY counter hit.
You can also just shoot arrows into his head in phase one, it does extra damage and Gundyr spends a lot of time with his thumb up his ass, so it's not that hard to take a couple potshots at his dome. The real wall is the pope squad, unironically.

Worst part is it's only for damage at longer ranges, if you get all the white branches from around all three trees and go back the ring is there and you dont kill him yourself

ymfah, you truly are the biggest chad to ever Dark Souls
PSA: You don't need to kill the giant for the ring. If you grab all the white birch branches from the 3 trees (undead settlement, cathedral of the deep and farron swamp) which all 3 can be gotten to quite quickly, only have to kill the crystal sage. Once you've done this he will be gone and the ring will be waiting for you.
No matter how many times I watch this, my heart still breaks when seeing the giant die

Just a note for y'all. That head stunlock on Friede isn't infinite. It'll stop after over a dozen hits to the head and she'll just throw a fast attack at ya for being too close. That's if you don't do enough damage to kill her.
So don't get too close. A bow is a weapon for ranged combat (unless we are talking about deacons of the deep. With these guys you have to shoot from 5 centimeters away from their face)

If you are talking about sif in ds1 you dont need to kill sif for the ring, only go around the grave and dont get close t the artorias sword

I like the idea of the bow being similar to a melee weapon, like how you can attack out of a roll.
If the bow didn't cheese a million encounters, it could be a fun visual alternative to high range melee weapons.

@@jereksmith5509 The Black Knight (ultra) greatsword has my fav moveset. I don't really care for the damage itself. I mean you get wide arcs, double poke and you can poise into a golf swing.

i though of doing a only bow user in ds3 before watching this video. I play as archer in most mmo so i wanted to try and keep fiel to my normal class. after some time i was like: "this is stupid idea. lets get back to the sword"

The arrows that stick on to Friede and reveal her position while invisible is a great trick. That's how I beat her but using the heavy crossbow. I always use some form of bow and/or crossbow in souls games for extra dmg. Always useful but with Friede was more than useful. And I used crossbow for her as it is quick and require just one hand.
That would've been useful to know literally 12 minutes ago, when I was myself trying to beat Friede
@@snekbitesboop9643 I tried to made the tip famous by writting it on "how to beat Friede" tutorials and stuff, but you know with so many comments it's hard to do. I found it by accident and is really a great trick. To me that boss is one of the hardest in the entire saga, what I did was crossbowed her when I can, always charged it before I changed to Dragon Slayer Axe, two handed it when she became invisible and do a charge heavy attack. I always recommend to have some sort of range attack in any Souls game, the extra damage is always welcome.
The best birthday present is when Ymfah upload how to video, and it's dark souls 3.
