The Sons of Africa are the hidden faces behind the movement to abolish slavery in the United Kingdom. Comedian Jamali Maddix tells us of the actions of Ignatius Sancho, Olaudah Equiano & Ottobah Cugaono who risked assassination, deportation and the threat of being financially ruined by taking risks that inspired more former slaves to come forward and be heard. These Sons of Africa are just a few names among many other Black activists who deserve to be known for their role in the end of slavery in the United Kingdom.

Research the life of the young man whose story reflects that of Dido Belle. His father brought a pregnant enslaved woman to the UK, asked his brother (an aristocrat) to adopt the child then ship the mother back to a plantation in America.
When the child grew up and learned of his mother's fate he left his adoptive parent's estate and went to fight in Haiti where he was killed by the French. His portrait is in the canary wharf museum.
