so yeah the crew were idiots but honestly i can partly understand why they did it. now after managing to keep every single man alive in the war set a level of perfection that they expect from Odysseus now so when the see how he actually can make mistakes ones that ended with people dying to the cyclops. their trust is shaken only for Eurylochus to openly go against Odysseus. we have been told that each character has a specific instrument that represents them but with Eurylochus his "instrument" is the crews voices. they obviously respect Eurylochus a lot. in fact during Puppeteer it is implied(faintly but its there) that Eurylochus himself had a hand in the bag being opened.. It is def not helping that the wind spirits constantly whispering doubts and promises of treasure. They also mention Polites now its very likely that Polites with his bright trusting nature brought hope to the crew it helped them trust and believe in Odysseus so with him dead they can tell something is wrong. In short their trust in him has 3 main factors. Eurylochus steady support(he openly argues with him), Polites(dead) and has kept them alive(people have died now) overall this understandably leads to their trust being shaken.
