Hunting Big Mule Deer With An Airgun?

- Join us on a hunting adventure to Southern Utah looking for big mule deer! We spent a good 3 days looking at some big bucks, sitting in a blind & even got to shoot some prairie dogs.
We used the Umarex Airsaber which shoots arrows at over 400 FPS! The new Umarex AirSaber is an all-new category for big game hunting with no strings attached. The gun was topped with the Element Helix scope and shot from the BogPod Deathgrip Tripod. Austin was able to shoot a nice buck at around 30 yards our last night and the equipment performed just as expected! This was shot on private land and 100% legal (in Utah) and licensed.

You couldn't of had a better "arrow tuner" than Tim. I've shot many tournaments with Tim up in Alaska. I was able to beat him one time, (only because he dropped out) (he didn't want to beat us that bad:) Great first deer. Good job guys (and gal)

I'm getting a umarex arrow gun myself ,there.not cheap, but well worth it!!
I got one for my birthday. What I really love is it's weight. I have bad shoulders and it was light. About the same as .22 lr. Just love it!
Awesome! Congrats to the shooter. Jealous for sure, haven't hunted Mule deer in 3yrs now....oh well, when I do make it out there again, it will be that much sweeter!

In Idaho the Sheriff would have written you up for shooting from the road. Even in remote areas like this for varmints. They're kinda jerks that way up here.

How did you tune the arrow? It’s not effected like an arrow from a bow since the force is in the front not being pushed by a string.
Do you need to an xbow specific scope? Or can you throw on a standard rifle scope?
What actual air rifles were you using the shoot the prarrie dogs? Not the all black one the desert brownish one

john dietz you can hunt in the any weapon season for big game with the arrow shooter airguns anywhere in the state. This hunt was a cwmu hunt (land owners tag) where you are allowed to use any weapon from the opening of archery season until the end of October. You may also use the arrow shooters during archery season if you have a handicap permit for a physical disability that makes it not possible to draw a bow back. Basically unless it is a cwmu or you are physically handicapped you can only use it to hunt big game during any weapon season.(rifle season basically)
Or if it is considered “other species” like bear or cougar
Pyramidair.com has an airgun hunting map but an "airbow" isn't always in the same category. I know here on California you can't hunt with one.

The sound of those calls is painful to the ears.
I know I'm silly I would rather shoot soda cans and the rubber ball every time you hit them they jump real challenging take rifle off the stand do some free hand shooting that's very challenging just my opinion I've killed a lot soda cans empty and full in my lifetime he he he
Let me start off with, I have a few Airguns in .177, .22, .25. I’ve purchased a few things from Utah Airguns. I’m happy with the customer service-very helpful. I’ve shot some wild game for Food for the family. Now, to each his own, but just out right killing these animals(ground hogs) to pass time and improve your shooting skills is not going to look good when judgement day rolls around and the LORD ALMIGHTY has that talk with you. This is a major wake call to STOP the pass time killing for target practice guys! Make your company look really bad!
It used to bother me but every one shot gets eaten by something, not sure if coyotes , birds of prey, I think they eat their own also, I have seen places that were shot up and next day it's like it never happened no sign of anything killed, I don't care to do it but I understand why and I'm sure u know all the reasons, I believe in eating everything I kill now,
Edward Richeson I appreciate your view and I understand what you are saying but you must must understand something, these animals are where livestock live and or crops are planted. They absolutely destroy crops and ruin fields and the large holes they dig in the ground cause livestock like cattle or even game animals to step in and break legs. It’s not just for passing the time it is also doing what the rancher would need to do with poison traps and other methods to get rid of them.
Ok, just went back to the video to see if I was over reacting - I wasn’t. I don’t know how to tell you this, but it’s the attitude behind the kill is where Jesus is going to nail these guys. Imagine, you create this amazing thing and these guys go and just kill it/them and laugh about it and even pull in a passerby to join in destroying your creation. The person/s don’t even go over and use the pieces from your creation for something creative. I’m just saying, we as humans always find a way to carelessly slaughter Gods creation. Again, I will admit to killing for food. That in the Bible is ok. When I was a kid, I did much wrong to animals. The Lord woke me up in a few situations in life and now I see clearly. Just know this, HE(I AM) is watching your every move and thought, and it’s being recorded. May the Lord bless you!
If you only knew the damage these animals cause and the problems the farmers face because of it then you wouldn’t be here in the comments bashing Justin and Utah Airguns. That being said, I don’t kill things I don’t eat unless it’s for a reason and this right here is a damn good reason.
