His dad owns a racing company to win, not just for his son to race. Anything is possible in sports with contracts (we just saw that today with Hamilton, and my favorite example is Wayne Gretzky even got traded) so it's never a 100% never gonna happen.

Nah, Mercedes have not been a team that appoints a rookie and will not be unless Antonelli proves to be somewhat other worldly god like driver at the age of 17-18. Top teams Red Bull, Ferrari, Mercedes, McLaren tend not to appoint even their own drivers as rookies like Verstappen, Leclerc and Russell (Norris yes, but Mc was deep in the mud at the time).

There is just absolutely no chance Leclerc didn't know about this happening when he signed that contract with all the team leader clauses. I think he'll be fine, and kudos to both of them for having the balls to accept this kind of challenge, if one is faster than the other then the other will just have to accept that and I think they'll be closely matched anyway
