Unlike other birds/people, like exes, penguins never really fly out of your life, they stick with you even if you're not together. Joe and Georgia never really flew out of each other's lives, even though they were never 'together together' and only really knew each other for 2 minutes, and I am swooning!

@@Mwellow I think we should be more worried about whether we’re even getting a S2 at this point... Bc the Swifties are coming after the show, big time. Now, listen, it was a joke in bad taste and I think Taylor was valid in saying smth and admittedly the show is not perfect and has a lot of weak points (Ginny’s character & storyline in particular need a lot of work bc rn she’s annoying AF and I hate her friends) BUT that doesn’t warrant the entire show being cancelled over one bad joke that yes, was slightly sexist but at the same time it’s Ginny’s character saying it and shes got a lot of internalized self hatred, so ya know, I actually thought in the context it was quite fitting. Not funny, and 100% a bad joke, but fitting.
Anyways I still think the show should get a second season bc it has the potential to grow and learn from its mistakes. Like making Ginny’s character a little more real, and likable, and less teen angsty. Making her friends less “peer pressure”-y and micro-aggressively racist and ignorant. Making Bracia - the only sane mature student who tried to be Ginny’s friend - more of a presence instead of an afterthought. Basically, Ginny needs to grow big time, or else it’s really not worth it. Also, making Austin (& his dad) and Georgia’s backstory a bigger focus bc I feel like a lot of us care about that more than Ginny’s immature “I have the hots for the deep broody dude but for some reason I’m settling for a guy I don’t care about just bc he asked me out and I have no self esteem” plot. I mean, come on, that love triangle is so tired and overdone! Plus, it’s obvious she ends up with Marcus so why all the fuss?
ANYWAYS, if we do get a second season, I think there is the potential for Georgia to be happy in the long run. At the end of the day, she is one of the MCs so yes, altho I’m sure she’ll get in a lot of trouble on the way, I don’t think an unhappy ending is in the cards for her. Now, I dunno who she ends up with, but I’m hoping the fact that she has a lot of Joe fans isn’t going unnoticed by the writers and that they at least do smth about it and give us more content in S2! Bc quite frankly, Joe is the only reason I’m watching. I like Georgia too, and her story is interesting, but because the show is quite cliche, badly written (no offense!) and teen-focused, I don’t think I would’ve stuck around past episode 3 if it hadn’t been for him.

He watches her walk away, regretting every second.
He ruffles his hair nervously, and clenches his fist before suddenly sprinting up to her. She jumps back, surprised. “Georgia, I know it was you...” he says, in a huff, out of breath. “”Don’t cry over spilt condiments.’ All those years ago.” He pulls out the sunglasses and she gasps. “I was looking for those!” He smiles and places them in her hand, “Ginny gave them to me. She told me you said it was the nicest thing anyone’s ever done for her... I meant to tell you the other day, but then you said you were engaged to the mayor and I couldn’t. But Georgia, it must mean something.” Georgia stops him “It doesn’t mean anything, Joe. You don’t know what you’re talking about-“ she turns around, typical Georgia self defense mechanism. He tries to catch up with her “Georgia-“ “No, Joe. Stop. It didn’t mean anything. I can’t believe Ginny told you that... Gosh darn Ginny,” she curses under her breath. “But Georgia-“ “No, Joe, all I would do is hurt you. You don’t even know me,” she scoffs. “If you knew all the bad stuff I’ve done, trust me, you wouldn’t like me...”
He pulls out one of her stolen checks. “”I appreciate a good scam,”” he says, echoing one of the first things she told him when they met. Her eyes widen and a smile of disbelief forms on her lips. “Where did you get that...?” He doesn’t answer and puts in her hand. “I know you, Georgia,” he says taking her face in his hands. She softens under his touch. “Maybe I’m not so innocent either. Or maybe I am. But stop using that as an excuse not to pursue something here. I’m done doing that,” he finishes seriously. There’s a beat and he lets her go and starts walking away.
She watches him walk away, in disbelief, then calls to him, “Joe?” “Yeah” he answers, not turning around. “We’re still good, right?” He turns back to look at her with a confused smile on his face then says, “Always” and waves bye to her. She turns around to leave, a big smile of comfort on her lips. She clenches the sunglasses tightly, looks up at the sky, and lets out a deep shaky sigh... The truth she just doesn’t want to acknowledge for fear of losing what she knows she could love the most. Not penguin love, not new love, not twisted love... but selfless, unconditional love. Something she’s not used to.
Aaaaand scene! Haha, that’s probably the cheesiest thing I’ve ever written and I’ve got way too much time on my hands 😂😂 But hey, Netflix writers, hit me up! 🤙🏾 There are more bangers where that came from, and I’ll make sure to make Ginny’s character more interesting and less annoying 😉 And I would never write a dumb Taylor Swift joke like that. this is a very interesting theory, and honestly quite possible. but im pretty sure the reason “jessie” was at the engagement party, was for nick! :) i hope that clears a little bit of that up- great theory, though!!
Honestly, when Paul gave that power speech I just thought about how much more interesting he would be as a character if he became Georgia's nemesis instead of being her boyfriend. The power thing isn't necessarily sign of Impending Evil cuz Georgia has control issues and Ginny's monologue about sex at the beginning of episode 1 has Georgia saying sex gives you either power or passion. If she stays with Paul, she gets power out of that relationship and that's something she knows how to work with. Something she thinks will give her the feeling of safety that will make her truly free, like she mentioned on their date. AND she told Maxine that love is never safe, which I think is why she let Passion walk out the door so many times (Zion). The fact that Zion is the one that walked away this time makes me think that penguin has learned to fly somehow (or is not a penguin anymore - however you want that metaphore to go). As for Joe, she's not ready to give that a go because she doesn't associate love or passion with the safety and freedom she seeks. (Sorry I go on and on, but Joe for the win!)

It’s like Gilmore girls, Georgia is Lorelai and Joe is Luke. IT MAKES SENSE DOESNT IT
People compare it to Gilmore girls, but I don't see it. Lorelai was a girl from super privileged family, bored with her lifestyle. Georgia was the complete bottom growing up. The reasons for them becoming teen moms couldn't be different. While Lorelai was the cool mom, nowadays reviewers usually judge Georgia for the way she is raising her kids. But take the few similar situations. When Rory stayed overnight, Lorelai freaked out. Georgia saw the signs sex could happen and got pills for Ginny. Americans judge that a lot, when TV teenagers take them, but that's the responsible reaction. Just like her approach to Ginny smoking weed. It kind of reminds me how I was raised and would raise my kids eventually. Making everything the forbidden fruit is like a sticker they should do that. Gilmore girls didn't have teen sex or drinking. Yes, Zion and Christopher are superficially similar. But while they both live away, Zion tried multiple times and he's constantly being a father at least from afar. Chris appeared in Rory's life rarely and was clear on leaving the parenting to Lorelai. Another kid? Gilmore girls showed it as such a scary option, like Rory could never stop being the special child for everyone around, but in fact, she was a spoiled brat (I didn't see it then, but I've been rewatching it for more than 20 years and seeing it in a new light as I age). Ginny rebels as every teenager, but she knows responsibility and can take care of Austin. She is much more realistic kid than Rory ever was.
I would rather call it American Skins. Like always, the original British version is edgier... And yes, there was that better to forget US remake... But it too shows the ugly parts of teenagers and their life. With the very criticised slut shaming, but that's what those little *** actually do. And they drink and smoke weed and watch porn to learn about sex, however dumb it is.

I think Georgia likes Joe. When someone tells her thats he likes her she denies it but think she feels that he is too good to date her. Her relationship with Paul started because she wanted a job to support a stable life for her children like she did with many men before. But she actually likes Joe and she doesnt know how to handle that because she never been in a relationship for love after Zion. She doesnt really open up to Paul and doesnt trust him and doesnt talk about her life. I feel like she is gonna open op to Joe in season 2. Also Ginny already likes Joe and i think it would be easier for her if Georgia ended up with Joe.
