Giving Compliments to Strangers in Norway

  • Norwegians are lovely, friendly people, but they are often known for being reserved and introverted. It’s very uncommon for strangers in Norway to interact with each other, instead they opt to keep themselves to themselves.
We put this hypothesis to the ultimate test by giving compliments to strangers in Oslo, in order to see how they would react. The results speak for themselves, but it’s clear that most people were surprised and confused as to what was happening to them!
We then take it even further, by handing out some typical Norwegian treats around the city of Oslo. Will we make their day? Or will they be too sceptical to accept the offer?
Talking to strangers can be frighting, and even more so approaching people on the street and giving them a compliment. But after having done this for more than 8 hours, we felt very comfortable in doing it and seeing the happy reactions (when we got them) were very addictive.
Getting friends in a new country when being a foreigner, you just have to put yourself out of you comfort zone.

Talking to strangers has become alot easier for us, simply by just throwing yourself out there, talking to strangers is actually very fun. Complementing strangers is even more fun, especially if you have no other intentions then just making people day a bit brighter.

Det er vanskelig nok å gå komplimenter til de vi kjenner, om vi ikke skal gi det til fremmed også... 😂

But who actually goes up to random people and give them random compliments? That‘s just weird.

People who like people, guess you haven’t traveled that much around the world👀 it’s quite normal to talk to people, you should try it.
