  • I had the engine code P0441 pop up on my 1998 Silverado. This is actually a simple fix and can be done in a short period of time without needing a shop.

Thank you for your help. I got that code this morning on my way to work. I found out what PO441 stood for and I remember I removed the big intake hose system to remove/reinstall my truck battery since I had to charge it. After watching your video, I knew I must have either popped a hose off, or broke that purge control valve cylinder. It turned out that I accidentally popped that hose off. I simply plugged the small hose back onto that little part and now it works like a charm!

Pulled codes on my 1997 and got P1441. Evap solenoid. Used “Standard” valve from online vendor.
Two 5/16 bolts. You can use the same socket to remove the two 5/16 bolts holding the air tube. No need to remove the hat.
1/4 ratchet with long extension. Clear code. Done!

Thanks, does yours have a vent/diagnostic vac switch right next to purge valve, or is it like in this video? Thanks in advance

1997 k1500 in my case is slightly different. The 97 on this end has a rectangular valve at the intake with a diagnostic vent switch right next to it. Charcoal canister is under hood. Yours is what i expected to see where you have a vent valve by the gas tank/canister , with a pressure sensor on sending unit. The purge valve on this 97 has no flow to engine but slight going in tank direction when checking with vac pump. Does anyone know if the 97 w/o tank pressure sensor measures pressure at the diagnostic vent? Or strictly flow towards engine which is my assumption.

Note there is no flow when checking not energized. After work going to check if it is opeming properly with vac gauge and checking while scanner shows it is open
