  • Hi all,
    Happy new year.
    Thank you all for all the lovely comments and knowledge you have shared in the past year. Its been really fun being able to share the rebuild with everyone and really thankful you're enjoying it also.
    I sprayed some of the underbody sealer or schutz in recently and did a little more rust repair on a few bits.
    Cant wait until we get this painted in the new year and get it on its wheels :)

    Looks fantastic and really enjoying seeing the process re the sound deadening. Wheel arches are probably the go rather than the whole under body.

      Thanks very much Mark, I think I agree I have a few more places to do under the body but I don’t think I’m going to do a blanket cover under the whole Ute. :-)

    I have found cutting out rust and fabricating / welding in new steel very rewarding. But now I'm at the stage where I have to hide the evidence and its not easy at all! Great video as usual and thanks so much for sharing your project. You've kept me going with mine and Im trying to keep up. Hope this year is going to be great for everyone.

      Thanks very much. All the best for you to this year. The only thing about the grinding is I recommend to do it as you go it can turn into a very large project if you have to do it all at once. Good luck with all the grinding you’ll get there. Love to see a photo one day. :-)

    I'd say blitz it with schitz - do whatever it takes to protect the underside from corrosion and stone chip damage.
    The underside of the ute is looking so pristine - like straight out of the factory - great work.
    Happy new year and greetings from sunny UK. Have a well earned tea and biscuit. Good health to you and all in 2023.

      Hi Jack, thanks very much. I am very pleased with how it is looking.
      I guess it’s a bit cool in the UK at the moment. Maybe next winter you could come over and warm up for a few weeks, lying on the beach, watching the surf, is not so bad 😏 I did it yesterday and I can honestly say the scenery was awesome. 😁. All the best for you and your family in 2023. :-)

    Hi Andrew, when l built my young blokes one tonner l used 4 tins of sound deadener. I sprayed the inner floor, under floor, inner roof & inner doors, when you ride in the tonner it's very quiet usually you ride in a factory tonner & and the reverberation drives you nuts.

    • @DonsTrix

    Happy New Year to you and your family. Look forward to seeing more videos this year. My preference would be to undercoat the whole underside of the car. Although most rocks and gravel would get flicked up into the wheel wells some can still bounce off the road and chip the floor pans.

    Hi Don, Great build.
    Hoping you may be able to help us out with your extensive knowledge on Fords.
    I have a bare shell Ford Ute. Not sure if it's XW or XY. I have two sets of plates with it but no numbers on the car. Is their anyway I can pick the difference from the shell of the car? I brought it with both XY and XW grills and rear lights. Keep up the great job on the Ute. I only wish I had half your skills.

    • @DonsTrix
      @DonsTrix  Před rokem

      Thanks very much grumpy. Much appreciated. Best wishes for the new year. Not sure what you mean by plates. I assume you mean compliance plate. The number on the compliance plate should match the stamped Shazzy number. The Shazzy number can sometimes be quite hard to read. It is on the right hand side of the car, beside the shock mount and that often is another one, still matching on the Radiator Support panel to the left of the right hand headlight. Also, the front guards are different slightly. The doors are different on the inside and the bonnet is different on the underside. I hope this is some help to you. I do talk about this in my videos when I am doing the doors and guards. :-)

    I'm with you in regards to body deadening, just in the wheel arches. Leave the rest of the car with the black under paint. If it every gets chipped or anything, it'll be easy to repaint (in many years to come). Haha Tom can give you a new shirt PhatRides instead of the Phat Fords one. Hope you all had a great Xmas and new year break! We are ready for a road trip in the XY!

    • @DonsTrix
      @DonsTrix  Před rokem +1

      Thanks for that. That is a very good point about the sound deadening I must confess it is extremely difficult to remove. I guess the thought is that if it has the deadener on it, you won’t have to remove it. I’m just not sure. Yes I think it’s about time. Tom sent me a gnu T-shirt. I’m going to send him one soon, that is of course if Josh ever settles on the design. :-)
