Finished the bonnet in this video and a few other things.
Feels so good getting the colour down. really happy with the current progress.

Thanks buttons. Question for you do you think I should do the black and give it the GT look, or give it a GS look some people think that it will look like a half assed GT if I spray it in GT layout. :-)
@@DonsTrix oh boy, that’s a big question. You need to go with your vision on this. Personally I’d be happy with either a GS or GT look. However, I think you might regret it if you don’t go full GT. The paint is still going to pop, maybe more so next to the black. Live the dream mate, go for the top!
Nothing more therapeutic than watching that colour and shine going on. Thanks Andrew . I painted my bonnet 2 weekends ago and left it on its back under nice calico drop sheets to cure. During the week a massive thunderstorm had water get in and saturated it. Come Saturday morning and I found it had been sweating in the heat for 3 days. I was gutted. It cleaned up ok but I could just see tiny humidity blisters in a small area which disappeared when it dried out but I know they are there. If anything can go wrong it will.
I’m sad to hear that about your bonnet. I hope you can tidy it up with a polish. It certainly is a very exciting time when you’re putting paint on if not a little terrifying one mistake and that is a massive amount of work to redo. Now we just have to make sure we don’t chip or scratch the paint work when assembling. Merry Christmas to you and your family. :-)

Thanks Wayne. It has been hard painting lately. It has been too hot. The roof of the shed has been over 70 C. That is a lot of radiating heat.:-)

Another great video. Paint is amazing. Great tip to on the drops to reduce fish eyes, I’ll certainly be getting some of that product.

You realy need a exsplosion proof sealed motor extraction fan to be safe. Vevor make a cost effective fan . Keep up the hard work your realy getting there now
Thanks Mate. My fan has no brushes in it. No sparks it would run in the fuel tank of your car and not cause a problem. :-)

Rust repairs feels endless however, one day you look at it and get it. I think I’m done. That is a very good day. I look forward to it for you it is a really good feeling. :-)
I’m loving how you now have a base coat gun and the new gun for clear only 🤩 very professional, and you would have to be happy with the shine your getting Andrew, well done mate great work, this colour is looking fantastic, cheers Andrew, can’t wait for another update. 👍

If you get bugs or dirt in your paint, while it is still wet grab a piece of masking tape and fold it in half with the sticky on the outside, use the fold on the corner to pluck the dirt or bugs out, you'll grab it easier and cause less damage to the finish.
Thanks mate I can’t wait to try that. It was quite a struggle to remove the bug in the bonnet with a pair of tweezers, and not do any damage. The masking tape idea sounds like a major improvement. Cheers, merry Christmas. :-)

That’s right it’s very difficult to put that sort of horsepower in a Ute style body. I have an XW sedan better suited for that type of power. :-)

Hi Andrew, brought one of your t shirts thanks , it’ll look the part when driving my xy Ute. The smugglers box lid appears to be held in place with seam sealer and screwed in place from factory but getting the screws out the lid where it meets the front of the tray was a real pain “when it came time to replace new fuel sender” .. ill probably leave those screws out when i replace it and just screw it down on three sides. I’m interested to see what you’ll do. Love that paint job 👍
Thanks very much Wayne thank you for the support with the T-shirt. I have a little right angle gearbox for my impact driver, which means I can get in there with an impact driver and undo the screws really easily and yes, I’m referring to those bloody difficult ones right near the cab. I will show the right angle Drive drill attachment next video.

Painting is a lot of work for sure. But would you consider not fast forwarding the colour please. Or make a slow TV version.
At this late stage I'm asking you to stand near the camera when talking with the mask on please. My hearing is not so good that I can make out every word,
I can only imagine how it's going to feel driving around in this ute seeing the whole town turn to admire your wonderful efforts. When I think back to what you started with. Well done.
My favourite joke about "lines" was a cartoon around the time there was an issue with drugs in footy. A grounds keeper was chalking the boundary line on the MCG and a colleague came up and asked him, "Did you hear about the problem they're having with players taking drugs? How bad do you think it is? He responded," I dunno about that, but I'm doing this for the third time."

Yes, I was going the full GT look, but I have decided to not put the shaker on unless I buy a new bonnet so I can have a option. However, I still am going to paint all the black. :-)

Hi Chris, yes I use Protec for bass coat.
And I get my paint from lismore paint shop. Although I personally feel that most paints are of similar quality of these styles of paints. :-)
