I love his positioning. Particularly how he walks.
Sephiroth has a great walk.
And jump he just spins in the air
Walking as Sephiroth gives you *power*
The fear you cause on your opponents just by walking with sephiroth
Cloud: hoh? You’re approaching me? Or are you getting the fuck away from me? I don’t...
Sephiroth: I can’t beat the shit out of you without getting the exact amount of distance from you.
Best walk in the game in my opinion!
Tweek: *Picks up Sephiroth*
MkLeo: *Picks up Sephiroth*
Zackray: *Picks up Sephiroth*
Rest of the Smash scene: *Sweating profusely*
Me: *Picks up Sephiroth*
Me: *Probably will pick up Sephiroth cuz he looks like a Character I would play*
I think Zackrays is looking the best of the 3 of them so far
@@frederickbingley6699 cuz it's offline
@@cumbender666 ... *eyebrow raise* ive watched a lot of gameplay of the three and i cant say how these 3 would verse eachother of course until it happens but as far as legitmate strats and skills, Zackrays sephiroth is beat MKLeo and Tweeks 3 hit N-Air combos thats SO readable its funny.
The way Zackray plays Sephiroth slowly, like he's rightfully controlling a boss, suits the character perfectly.
13:44
He is just standing there, MENACINGLY!!!
"He just standing there for longer than normal... That's so frightening. " That's how Sephiroth was meant to be played.
Offline sephiroth seems terrifying ngl
He seems to shut down several matchup singlehandedly and has a lot that can be optimized, especially his ledge trapping.
@@Endershock1678 which matchups ? I’m thinking about picking him up as a secondary
@@tahaaak his insane range makes him a great pick into other swordies, on top of beating sword-weak characters like Ness and Mario even harder. He still loses to characters than can run him down in neutral like pika and ZSS, and matchups like Wolf and Fox are even/skill dependent imo
@@tahaaak Well any stubby character for sure, so like half the cast. I imagine Peach, Puff, really any heavy except Bowser and Charizard, maybe Game and Watch, the Marios potentially (potentially, not super sure), and a few others. I also imagine he'll be good against a few swordies like Lucina, Ike, Marth, and Byleth. I also think he'll be good against Wario, but only about as good as you can possibly be against Wario, which is still about even. Also, characters with slow recoveries. I once spiked a K Rool 3 times through the stage. Probably not PT, but I personally hate the MU.
I main PT and I hate dealing with Sephiroth. Squirtle is super stubby and Ivysaur can't so jack against him. Charizard is okay, but he's a huge hitbox against massive sword and gets really easily spiked through the stage. It's also hard to parry online, so I can't even parry punish. I ran into like 20 Sephiroths this week (he's so popular) and because my GSP is really high (around 8.8 million), I've lost to basically all of them. I've never beaten Sephiroth as anyone but Sephiroth, who for some reason, I almost never lose to in a ditto. If offline tourneys were a thing, I would need to go my other main (Joker) or my secondary (ROB) to really do anything against him.
@@Endershock1678 squirtle bodies sephiroth with his low profile. I watched NedPT fight Dabuz's Seph in bracket and he just solo-camped squirtle (even when at kill percent) and dominated neutral the entire match. He also agrees with you that charizard gets bodied by seph
Real title of this video: Larry gets contradicted for 30 mins
Wym?
Nvm i see what you mean now
"He has no Kill throw" *Throws Mario into Despair*
I almost felt like Sephiroth was staring at the screen after that one straight at Larry.
That's at 24:16, for the curious.
It killed at like 200%. I don't think It's a kill throw.
The irony is his name is, "zack" and he's playing Sephiroth.
OHHHHHHH I SEE WHAT YOU DID THERE
@@karachoto Right over my head... what?
@@eddiearaya4755 I believe it's a reference to the Crisis Core installment of the games. Zack is another Final Fantasy character.
Nah, zack and sephiroth were mostly friends during Crisis Core
@@7cmhg840 Yeah.. "mostly" up until the Nibleheim incident.
4:59 yo that 0 to death though. Gat damn zackray, that was filthy
“I feel like he’s gonna use a lot of nair”
Uh oh, is he playing any character in the game super smash bros ultimate?
Little mac mains: sweating profusely
I hate that you’re right about this
@Devon Justice woah, you were right, no one cares
I like how Zackray sometimes just stands there for 2-3 seconds, MENACINGLY...
Truly a final boss character
He simply was waiting for the opponent's move to react to it. Players like Marss and Samsora prefer to go for hard read to pre-emptively throw out a move, while Zackray is just confident with his reaction, which actually makes him much harder to read btw
@@hoanganphanle killers...
He plays exactly how I would imagine sephiroth fighting. Giving me kingdom hearts flash backs
@@AGGSab Haha! That's so true now that I think about it!
@@hoanganphanle IMO playing on reaction can be so much harder than playing on the read, but if you do it well/have god tier reaction speed, it's absolutely terrifying
Sephiroth is absolutely a flashy character. He's just flashy in a calm, calculating, and imposing villainous way.
I'm honestly surprised no one hasn't realized the obvious pun of that down air being a D'aerith.
Because most of the smash players are people who dont even know about FF7 unless theyre older or cultured. Its one of those “if you know you know” jokes that people look up after picking up sephiroth lol
@@frederickbingley6699 id say thats as onpoint as the explanation could get, I figured at this point its been so much apart of pop culture that it was obvious, even Sakurai eluded to it in the direct.
He should've made a comment about how "Zack" is using Sephiroth.
Zachray has the most surgical playstyle, no wasted movement. I think this character fits his playstyle very well.
Wouldn't more high commitment character suit him? Like bowser byleth or ganon? If he can make everything hit then he just does a smash attack and instantly win
@@benebsbiagtan3357 maybe, but I think the best part about sephiroth is that his moves are relatively strong but most of them are a lot less committal. With Sephiroth, he can throw out a lot of options and still be safe, but with Bowser or Ganon you're gonna be able to hit the really strong move or space it correctly, but more often than not you're gonna be in a bad space if it gets shielded, parried, or spot dodged.
Byleth is a good shout since those two characters play very similarly, but Seph is a slightly better version imo mainly cause of Byleth's slow movement.
Sick content Larry, you’ve been killing it man
This videos from Larry are so underrated. This is how all game commentary should be IMO. His insights are so interesting to here. Great video 👌🏼
You really expect me to sit down and pay attention to gameplay when u got the future connected battle theme playing
With how many characters he can play, Zackray feels like the Japanese equivalent to Tweek
Given how they both juggle so many characters, both have an insanely good wolf, and they are now both dedicated to maining Sephiroth... the similarities are uncanny.
@Ultimate L Tweek's placing is still arguably better as the USA has more competition
@Ultimate L who is ahead of tweak in U.S.?
Thank you for releasing this! Zachray was the first person i tried to find playing sephiroth when he was released with no luck :/ This is the strongest player with sephiroth that I've seen so far..super excited for some majors
Tweek and Zack are the 2 best Sephiroth.
Zackray is more Linear and straight forward, while Tweek plays more tricky with the movement
2:42 awesome editing with the music for each hit of the combo 🙌🏼
Thank you for putting all songs in description editor! Genuinely appreciated by at least one viewer!
These videos are the best. Larry's reactions to the plays are just too entertaining :D
awesome analysis! you need to do more of these, they are amazing!
Yeah Zackray's Seph definitely reminds me of his Wolf, can't wait to see more of his progress with him
Gotta love how everyone is calling smash ultimate dead competitvely when all this is happening in japan.
I love the game offline, but playing online has made me suffer playing the game. Therefore I move to slippi, and now play melee religiously more than I had in my 1.5k hours in ultimate. Plus the neutral is so much more deep in melee.
@@r.i.petika829 We love to see it
@@r.i.petika829 Ya pretty much nailed it on the head... Melee is where it's at, but I think Ultimate will see a resurgence when offline comes back.
@@r.i.petika829 deeper neutral...or more tech to spam in neutral
@@nathanlevesque7812 I'm sorry to say it but you're just incorrect. Look at a match between a marth and falco, or captain falcon vs falco. The neutral is intense, and you won't understand until you try to play it yourself. The tech is rather an extension of one's own committal or non-committal options in neutral. In ultimate, neutral can be summed up into guaranteed combos with few to no DI mix-ups then running away and avoiding platforms like the plague. I know, I competed.
Oh, the irony of Sephiroth being piloted by a guy named Zack. His Seph is looking real good too.
edit: Can't wait to see how Zackary does against his fellow top players. I hear this was just 2 weeks after Seph was released? Man, he already looks so clean, even if there were a few things he could optimize further.
Yo Future Connected music got me hype
Love these analysis videos :D
To be fair for some reason all the other top Japanese players did not participate at this tournament :( Zackray had very limited competition there so I would honestly not judge Sephiroth on that.
That doesn't mean that this tournament was uninteresting though. Based on what we see we can say at least Sephi offline looks like a solid character, and Zackray doing all those good stuffs just two weeks after the char release reminds me again that this kid is a fucking genius at this game.
the more people doubt him the better it is for us seph mains lol
@@matthewosterman9030 Agree haha x) From my side honestly I don't doubt him I think he's really strong, like high tier at least. But I just want to wait Zackray to use him against Ken, Kome, Protobanham, Kuro and so on before making my first real opinion on what he could become at competitive level ^^
@@vb5281 Zackray is a genius in this game. I think Sephiroth is a good counter to lucina and shulk, but zackray will probably resort to joker or rob for competition sake. Still, it's wayy too early. Also, we need to consider other characters the rest of the world haven't fully integrated like Min Min (who Japan considers top tier) and Steve (who will probably take months to optimally play). I personally love sephiroth's play style and I know he at minimum is a counter/secondary character.
@@vb5281
He seems like a very solid counterpick character. I can see him being a menace against much of the cast and even a few top tiers like Peach, GW, or maybe Lucina.
I def think Sephiroth is a viable main. Pic hu and Mario are “bad matchups” for him but you can learn to beat them just like marss with zss.
he makes sephiroth look positively villainous
Sephiroth already god tier? 😳
Always has been.

Sephiroth is high tier, Zackray is god tier
If he wins at Kagaribi 1.5 and 2, there won't be any doubt.
Never mind, they cancelled thanks to covid.
Nah, just Zackray is. I feel like people need to stop judging characters off Mkleo, Zackray and Tweek's gameplay, those players are just godlike compared to other players. Like those players are just able to play any character and win with them.
@@moocowp4970 agreed but there's no denying he's up there (he's not perfect though)
Did you figure out the CZcams algorithm?? Your videos have gotten significantly more views in the past month than before. That's awesome!
I just watched Joker from Persona 5 and Terry Bogard fight Sephiroth on a Pokémon stage. This game is wild
Awesome right?
I like your edition, that the Terry theme kicking in as the fight started was pretty neat
The year is XXXX
Everyone is a Sephiroth main
Every stage theme is One Winged Angel, but when someone uses the shirtless skin it becomes the Advent Children version
Linking the idea that nair and up b is a homage to wolf's attacks blew my mind, you're so right
Yo loving these Larry
Zack got this Terry doing the wifi double roll to jab terry nonsense got me weak in the knees yo LMAO
14:07 is timed so nicely with the music
24:34 Props to you for using the best song from X and Y

Exactly 69k subs Larry nice.
Ps: congrats
As always good musics
Do any think zackray use tilt on c stick
Zachray uses Dash-step shield a lot. He can really take advantage of his good mobility.
Really enjoyed the analysis Larry. You should do Tweeks Seph next, or Leos!
I played against a godlike sephiroth with a very similar play style. very slow calm movements across the stage, but blocking everything and landing attacks perfectly. Is this standard sephiroth placestyle? Namely, the slow calm movements.
Yeah you need to play him conservatively. He can play completely safe but only in certain interactions that rely on a player's spacing. To find these interactions, you sort of need to pace around and wait for them, in a bait-and-punish style similar, but not the same to Mewtwo
I personally play him as a mix between rushdown and zoner, I play a very "freestyle on the beat" playstyle with him where I can play almost entirely on reaction, with good spacing/conversions, or as an absolute madman who just wants to take your stocks, sleep with your wife/husband, and make your dog love me more than it loves you
Alot of his edgeguarding tools remind me of Ike but better because they are easier to land and have much more range. The Counter has much less endlag so recovering from doing it would be easy. I can't wait to see a pro Ike player to get there hands on Sephiroth that would be terrifying
Mkleo has vids on his channel
@@blackshadexl yeah I know he is terrifying and played Ike which is why he bodied in the Gimvitationals but he hasn't been playing with Ike as much lately. I think that Ike's tool set is very similar to Sephiroth so alot of it carries over
MkLeo does not play Ike as much nowaday is because he thinks Byleth is better than Ike online and Joker is better than Ike offline. And he has already mastered both. To him, Ike just got outclassed in most situation

Sephiroth trailer
Can we appreciate that sephiroth from final fantasy can fight luigi
Can we appreciate that peach from super Mario can fight mario from super mario
*Green mario
@@stevenmcburney8167 actually mario is from donkey kong
Dre he’s from super Mario as his first official title is super Mario bros. It was his 35th anniversary since that game last year. Also when u play Mario is smash bros it doesn’t show a DK beside his name cuz he’s not from donkey kong. Sure that was the game he originated from but he’s from the super Mario series. Btw Mario is in punch out so ur basically saying that he’s from that game too even tho it’s just a cameo
Interesting you mentioned the wolf similarities, that is the first thing I thought was that sephiroth feels very similar to Wolf in certain aspects.
Which is nice for me being a Wolf main

Dabuz is just a nerd main. All his video title “pro playing seph”

2:55 something so funny to me about sephiroth popping villagers balloons
Every time Sephi does something I hear Jim Ross in my head.
im suprised he didnt go for more aggressive ledgeguarding options but spacing and position are really important for sephiroth so it makes some sense. i also like the d tilt 2 frame and his use of ftilt is amazing
Thanks for explaining the reason they do something.
High level gameplay can be hard to understand.
I've seen a lot of people saying that Sephiroths dsmash can be a good option. But Zackray didn't really used it once. Is it a bad move in an offline enviroment?
Playing against Sephiroth is a special kind of scary. He can break your shield easily if you aren't careful.
Especially with the 0 to death built in. It's dangerous at any percent to get sheild broken by this dude.
for anyone who struggles vs sephiroth, you can break his counter with smash attack super armor like bowser or little mac
?? This in no way would help someone struggling vs sephiroth lol
@@werb--- I'm just saying that his counter can be broken by super armor or counter attacks

Zackray is a boss. His psychological game play is soo good. Leo and Zackray sets are going to be bananas.
“Cloud an sephiroth are the same person. Big swords and anime hair right?”
Lol the ignorance that cant even be mad at
Technically that statement isn't entirely false, IIRC the way Seph came back in Advent Children was via implanting jenova cells in the lifestream, which created geostigma, the whole idea was to create a planet of Sephiroths, as he can turn anyone with jenova cells into one of his clones.
The reason that's important is because Cloud Strife, has jenova cells in him, so technically IIRC, Cloud could become Sephiroth and vice versa
Surprised nobody said Sephiroth's N-air is similar to Greninja's N-air. That's the immediate connection I made as soon as I saw the move in the presentation.
16:26 People gonna start calling Sephiroth lame with time?
Yup. Happens every time. And I hate this community for it.
Meh. Play who you like. Don't worry about other's opinions.
Damn he really is like wolf. No wonder CDK likes seph so much
He has a decent counter for a sword fighter, the fact that hero's charged neutral b or megaflare can still hit him after he counters.
That edge Guards with Octoslash was amazing
Bro sephiroth has like 7 2frame moves
Down aierith, down tilt, down smash, down b, forward tilt, up b, neutral b
Nice bgm choice
Zackray played Meta Knight against Eim(sheik) so that means the next video is going to be about Meta Knight
I LOVE the Xenoblade music in background
If there's something to point out from all these analysis clips, I don't think it's mentioned that Zackray uses mega\flare all that often. Of course I understand there are better move choices out there (sometimes safer too), but it's always good to throw in something different while waiting for an opponent to climb up the ledge.
Dang, Larry not messing around with them ads
Its cause he gets low-mid level views so he doesn't make enough from just the views, he needs that cash money from the ads
@@jimmyvasquez5298 I respect tha hustle

Great commentary! But one correction. That stabbing air attack is a forward air attack, not a back air.
The way his play style is soo similar to mine is just cool
Zackray loves Seph’s tilts.. I feel like Tweek’s more aerial based with the character
20:25 pew pew pew
Larry Lurr would make an excellent commentator.
i want to see how sephiroth performs in a stacked tournament offline
Wow. Wow. Wow. I love this
I was wondering why he never down aired the Villager when he was going under the stage so much during recovery. My only thought was Zackray was trying to condition him to recover like that just to punish later if need be.
I was playing against a Villager yesterday with Seph. Many times when I tried to d-air his recovery the balloons extended my hitbox long enough for the Villager to snap ledge and punish with get up attack. Could just be me though, I'm not great.
Appreciate the Xenoblade music
