Alan
I thought this was going to look like a classy bar space. It looks more like a pantry.
i think with some lighting it would look much better
I agree, it looks cheap.
I totally agree.
I am not a fan of this one
Babies changing station!
Agree with most of comments: this makeover feels more like a makeunder. Except for the bubbling, the before is more attractive: all it needed was a tidy to reclaim its function lol. Love the new wallpaper tho but why make a big deal about centering the paper (cool tip in general) and then concealing most of it with asymmetrical cabinetry? I would have wallpapered all three sides and just put it full-length cabinetry along the bottom for a clean practical space 🤷🏻♂️
I was always taught that if I had nothing nice to say I should say nothing at all... so, um, the homeowner seemed nice.
hahahahah
I cannot believe they cut the baseboard for this! Yikes!
Omg 😆 same not impressed Ha ha
And yet you failed. Own your snark.
😂🤣😂 agreed
I love everything except that weird wire box with the pull down table, my eye is drawn to how black it is, I would’ve preferred just a pull down board that somehow hooked to the wall because that wire box looks like a box fan to me.
Totally agree
Yeah it looks like a supermarket crate. Ugh.
It is innovative for sure but the black is jarring and needs to go. Cream or the Half Moon paint color to make it disappear would be a better option.
Amen
True I also thought it was a bit of an eyesore but I guess it fits this persons need
This one was definitely a miss. Like, all of it.
As a designer, I loved that she mentioned the reasoning and logic behind everything she did. It really made the video so much more entertaining to watch!
agreed!!
Danggg I hate to say this because Mandy is great but for me this one missed the mark. Doesn't really seem like a dedicated bar area and it's really busy. :(
With that said, I don't think its bad at all. I would never walk in someones house and be like "that looks bad" or something. But during the before and after sequence at the end I just kind of thought it wasn't quiete "bar" enough.
@@almostremembered I agree completely. I don't think that it looks bad, but the space had a lot more potential that they didn't reach.
well I'm glad They like it.
if the shelves had gone all the way from the wall to the cabinet instead of floating off the wall the entire unit would have looked completely built in. as it is, it looks like a mish mash of assembled products to fill a space.
I have to disagree, I think the design is sound and more visually appealing with the middle floating shelves.
@@frank-gavinmoratalla7942 I've seen that same wall of floating shelves in the shelf section in furniture stores. Looks absolutely horrid.
I'm not an expert, but it looks too squashed now. The cabinet makes the space even smaller. I think they should have kept a single countertop cabinet wall to wall and put shelving up. Sometimes simple is better.
I like the tips and tricks, but this design was a let down for me. Could’ve been a wall to wall counter with closed cabinet on side, wine/beer fridge on the other and still have floating shelves above. The wire, pull down table seems in the way.
I think the homeowners might have gotten more utility with this set up. It sounds visually appealing, too.
The wire pull-down is awful.
I love it! It's kid friendly hence it looks like that. The vibes are also fitted to the other part of the house.
The flip down table top is weird. Why not a counter next to the shelf instead of one floating shelf. Other than that…it’s ok
the wallpaper sucks too lol
OLD IS GOLD
Well this started off promising...
Totally agree. She stuffed it up.
The wire basket shelf is not attractive . A simple shelf can be made that folds down when not in use. Not sure why the shelf needs a basket. Nice build otherwise.
I'm obsessed with the folding shelf thingy
Me too! 💕
Always cut the cupboard to fit the skirting board, not the house to fit the cupboard!
😂
Strange. This reminds me of a classy changing station for baby. The drop down surface is the changing table. The shelves for hampers with wipes, towels, a few handy toys, and focal pieces, the cabinet for diaper and undergarment storage, baby meds and supplies. All that's missing is the miniature Calder mobile. I wonder if subconsciously the child factor impacted this design. Bc it was not what I think they were hoping for.
I'd have made this space adult looking, like an architectual feature, a box inserted into the box space and focused on giving the walls definite depth, reflection or interesting texture and use hidden lights on a dimmer to give it a glow and adult mood, made a high counter top. Lock on any low level storage. It's for coctails after all, and they literally wanted to reclaim adult time and space from their children. 🤷♀️
I don’t get grown up bar. I get wineglasses and a bunch of random decor and kids books. I absolutely HATE that pull down contraption! Seems odd in color choice and placement.
Great makeover! I love how the designers in this series share their reasoning and tips. Thank you!
Am I alone in thinking there should be a wine cooler and less random decor?
Great job!I love this bar nook!! (And I love original child space too, lovely corner)
Mandy is so passionate about her work ☺Great job!
Wasted opportunity here, the clumpy drop down table is silly. Just looks like a CB2 bar cabinet squeezed in the corner.
this should be a series
Please make this a series!
Cool idea, but it looks too messy in my opinion. And even though I get they idea behind the shelves, it just looks like you took wrong measurements and ordered shelves that are too short
THANK YOU for showing the wallpaper removal process. this has been the biggest fear holding me back from making changes to my apartment. AD: would you consider doing a video like this where a room is transformed into a small music studio/creative space?
The whole vibe of the house is Scandinavian you don’t just slap another type of design it will look off. But yes layout is to busy it feels like a full kitchen for small apartment instead of a bar area.
If she wanted to go for 'custom built-in', then enforce this idea by not adding shelves and some weird fold-out surface that are CLEARLY bought without even properly measuring the space. Her reasoning was good. The execution ..not so much.
LOVE THE COLLAPSABLE TABLE!!!
A neon bar sign above that second counter space would be really cool and adds that extra bedazzle✨🍸
Like it all except the color of the cupboards. I would have done a maple color or black. Needs under cabinet lighting
I did not like the gray paint and the wallpaper, they are not in harmony with each other. The floating shelf doesn't look useful either. Furniture and all accessories appear to have been bought separately and not considered together. Sorry!
Now I need to order earthquake putty
Super busy with that wire table thing. The “built in” bar even overlaps the toe kick. I think then cupboard should have extended all the way across and maybe a mirror above it play with the light would soften up the space. Right now it looks like a pantry
Love it I would love to see his place and the plants please ! I love these episodes.
You managed to make the space look bigger. I think the box is cheap looking though. Overall very nice.
Nice bar space but they should use the space only for cocktail supplies, not books and pantry supplies. It would give the space a more clean look I belive
Great Ideas AD ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
The cabinet doesn’t even fit on the custom toe kick properly lol
This bugged me most out of everything!
I really like this 😍
Looks great
Wow! Looking forward to more of such makeover! Thanks for the tips!
I love before and after!
Kinda looks like a ikea display box where they set up small living spaces to show the furniture. Should of had Eric Garcia from maison trouvaille re do this space like your other "replace this space" episodes.
it is a bar... because there are liquors, glasses and cabinet... I can't argue with that. nevertheless, you may call it a pantry bar.
In my opinion, if you can't afford to do a full built-in option, don't try. It just looks cobbled together and like a half attempt. Personally, I would have found a beautiful vintage buffet cabinet that fit the space (without having to cut baseboards). Something with history and visual interest with closed storage below for the toys and books so the kids have access to them and they can be put away out of sight. I would have used wall to wall open shelving above the buffet for bar items (out of reach of kids). If you're worried about earthquakes, rails can be added to the shelves with bottles and glassware so they don't fall off. I would have used a statement wallpaper behind the shelves for more visual interest. And great lighting: something shining light from above, puck or strip lights under the floating shelves, and a cute table lamp on the buffet to add low, ambient light.
This was what I was expecting the designer to do… i guess she was going for unexpected…
The colour palette is awful...the sage paint looks grey in contrast with the wallpaper and does not respond well to the lighting in the space. Wine glasses are definitely in reach of children, they need to go higher...hello, many small bars have overhead glass racks. Fold-out table is super incovenient. The marble cutting top is inside the cabinet!? Have you ever tried to use one of those things, not being able to properly see what you are cutting without leaning back every time would get old real quick. Over all design is way too busy....big let down.
Agree. It also looks " Cheap ".
I kind of like it more before
I like it.
It looked classier before :p
This is so good I might just copy it almost exactly lol
"It's really safe it's perfect!" shelf drops- *BONK*
awful cabinet choice given that floor
The cabinet feels just plonked there . She should of put wallpaper in the gap as it’s very contrasting
“Kid friendly”. Sure if you like cleaning up dirt and broken pot plants…
Have to agree with the feedback here - missed opportunity to create an easy to use but beautiful preparation space….
That’s my friend Patrick !
it would have been better if this was left for kids being they were mentioned 20 times and are integral to this house, or at least a work desk being we are all jailed in our homes for the foreseeable future.
Dios te ama bendiciones 🇨🇴 Bogotá abrazos gracias 👋 bendiciones
As an architect, my opinion for the makeover is tidy but inconsistent
I see no " tidy ".
the fact that they explained how to apply wallpaper so it doesn't look unmatched, then proceeded to apply it badly made me mad...
It's all I can see!!!
YUP I saw it right away and I'm like they didn't just give a whole speech about the leveling and lining it up and then even put a info box in editing
the wallpaper wasn't lined up properly 😬😬
I think comments this time are too negative, it looks way better than before
It looks like a budget friendly project that you attempted to make seem custom. Nice but seems more like a college kids bar than a mature couple with kids.
Nope. Not an easy to use bar. No style poor function.
This is actually very cool and nice. Goood idea for my future house! hahaha... 4hrs? hmmm if I make this myself it will take me 4 weeks muahahaha
It just doesn't look like a bar.. lights are important part to make it look like bar. That wire box is just weird.
Is there paint that dries that quickly?
This looks cheap to me....... the cabinetry, despite what she says, clashes with the floor & the veneer looks cheap. Also the wallpaper pattern not lining up at the seam would really bug me and the paper itself also looks cheap with that pattern.
❤️🇬🇧
The before and afters aren't that much different. Which I guess is considerate of the homeowner, keeping the style the same. Not my style, but I don't go for this new moderne, although it's all the rage.
So this small corner cost $2K to build if I add everything.
How is anyone going to live in such a small space as that??
She is good! 🤔
Not a fan of that storage mesh box on the wall... It just seems like it's in the way and out of place.
Very nice..love the idea of a fold down table..that particular one is just not my taste…
This was not well thought out.
Cutting into the trim and leaving the part of the wall blank, the homeowners are literally STUCK with this look. No easy fix to this.
I like it but my question is where did Mandy purchase her boots from. Those r exactly what I've been searching for to wear with a new skirt I just purchase. Please , please respond..( smile) Thank U.
Bootbox in Meadville, PA
@@RealLoofaRigno Thank U so much
Oh, well Boot Box has no merchandise on their site. Called & explained Architectural Digest makeover & noticed the boots..Described them to no avail without a name brand. Has nothing to do with the video but then again its still fashion. Thank U for ur respond ( once again) anyway.
Sorry but this doesn’t look good to me…..
Not much style….
Of course, this is just personal taste….Others might love it….!!!
It looked better before. What a bizarre, impractical design.
Sorry to be 'that' guy, but yeah sure this all looks great and all, but in real life all those books and toys will just go mess up another corner of the home... I would have invested in smarter storage solutions than a bar.
Books and plants on a bar space? How weird is that. The before wallpaper was gorgeous and the overall before vibe was much nicer. It just needed some tidying. The new one looks bulky and cluttered. A bar space must be minimal and serving fully its initial purpose.
It looks a little busy.
Hi
I was hoping they would built-in around that drop down table and I don't like the bars showing on the bottom of the shelf that looks chintzy
I don't understand why people love wallpaper.
Wheres the bar? lol this is bad. if i were the owner, i just rip everything out and just put a desk in there. lol
unbelievable!
I shade but it was nicer before
Where is Natalie? I miss her.

They got the before and after round the wrong way…
I loved all the things they used for a makeover but somehow, they didn't visually the in together. It doesn't look that great.
I’m not sure what the purpose of the horrible beige wallpaper was for? A coat of paint would have been better. The brown cabinet is too dark & looks old fashioned. Only thing I liked was the pull down shelf, but really it was a hazard & didn’t sit right. 👎🏻
I like the wallpaper… the rest is..unique. They could have done a lot with that space and kept it clean looking rather than cluttered and mismatched. Sorry, just my opinion. The colors are nice though.
...I liked the before better. Adult doesn't have to mean boing, does it? I guess I learned a lot about earthquake-proofing and minor construction, but it's a no from me, dawg.
I feel this designer always over accessorizes her spaces, but it wasn’t bad for a four hour design.
