My normal blood splatter effect is totally accidental. Normally involves something sharp and some loud cursing. When dry it's funny it never looks like blood. I have tried splatter using a stationary horizontal tennis racquet and dropping paint covered tennis balls on it. Was a good controllable effect.
Hey Brad. That looks cool! I have a suggestion: thin the paint a touch, tilt the guitar in move of a play position & sting the paint horizontally.. you'll get more runs.
I've been wondering about this type of finish for a while I've always wanted to see a matte black guitar with a metallic red blood splatter could look great I just have to get over my hatred of matte black guitars and how they always look dirty or wet
I've been thinking about doing a white base blood splatter on my Schecter C 5 bass and I've got a couple of questions. My bass has got these EMG style soapbar pickups(passive) and I was wondering if it's okay to paint over them. I've seen custom guitars where the pickups do seem to be painted over but is that just the casing or is it actually painted over? And since the blood splatter clearly isn't going to be flush with the base color, when I apply a clear coat over it, isn't it going to have lumps over the blood splatter? And how do you go about the final sanding a polish in that case?
Hi Caleb, You can paint on the pickups if you use adhesion promoter. Painting on pickup covers may be easier. The blood spatter does leave lumps. You can thin it a bit more to reduce those. If you want there to be no hint of that in the final finish, you will need to do extra coats of clear. See my video on how to build a thick clear coat.
You are just a regular Jackson Pollack ! Great job, I appreciate the tutorial and technique. Can you post a link to the colors you were using? They seam to be very deep.
That guitar looks like it belongs to someone with the xbox gamertag 666_illkillyou_666 back in 2006. NHF, you do quality work but that design is just too edgy for me.

That’s a really cool technique idea. Thanks Rick. Yeah, actually dried blood is too dark to look cool. You need the fresh spatter effect.
Painting an Ibanez gio micro for a friend and he wants the blood spatter look and you saved the day again
Glad I could help
Excelent content as always!! So quick and straight to the point! Tks for that Brad....Keep rocking!! 🤘🏽🔥
Thank you!
Very scary Brad. You've outdone yourself this time. Quality work as usual.
Thanks Brian
You make great instructional video, keep up the good work👌🏻
Thanks Jared
awesome work as usual! love the splatter
Thanks; glad you like it.
Thanks for the video Brad, maybe you were right a touch too much red the second squirt.
On a brighter background it certainly would have been. I think a bit of added vibrance helped on this background.
Very cool man
Thanks Blake
Well done Brad 👏 it looks amazing. You make this so easy. I'm going to give it a go I hope it works out 😰
Just test it on a piece of paper off to the side and you’ll get the hang of it quickly.
Smart to have that undercoat. Looks like it gives the image some depth.
Adds some nice texture.

Cheers Adam.
I just realized autocorrect kicked my butt.

Haha yeah that would be a very interesting finish. Would want to do that with an enamel probably for durability so you don’t need clear over it.
I like it... makes me want to try that.
Give it a shot!

Do you leave it like that or sand it back? I'm working a superstrat and can't decide between blood slatter or pin stripes.
I leave it like that and clear coat it.
Nice Brad. I'm concerned by the thickness of splatters. Will clearcoat be able to deal with it ? How many coats will be needed to bury them ?
If you wanted to bury them completely you would need many coats. Probably at least 6.
@@BradAngove Is is possible to sand between splatter and clear coat? Or will that ruin the splatter job?
You would need to be very gentle and use something like scotch brite instead of sandpaper to limit the risk I think.
Jackson Pollock meets the Walking Dead..
Hahaha
Have you made it with nitro lac?
No, that’s not what it is.
You are just a regular Jackson Pollack ! Great job, I appreciate the tutorial and technique. Can you post a link to the colors you were using? They seam to be very deep.
For the spatter specifically, or the entire paint job?
@@BradAngove The bright colors for the blood, should have been clearer, sorry.
I got them from coastairbrush.com it’s under AutoAir, which is made by createx.
If I have a matte finish guitar can I just splatter it?
Probably, but you may have a bit of a challenge with adhesion.
🥇
I am not shure I like the blood on that guitar, I think splatter I mutch better on a straight one color guitar.
But thanks for sharing.
It shows up better on a single, lighter color. This guy wanted something wild, so here we are haha.
I like to use a butcher knife for my blood splatter effects. More realistic 😂
Commitment. I admire that.

Hahaha that’s quite funny
I thought for sure you were going to have a special guest, Hunter Biden the king of splatter or is it spit?
I’m not American. That kind of joke would be a bit out of scope for me.
