This just shows that parents need to be more aware of this stuff and that we're not always *dramatic* and that sometimes these kind of things is more serious than just a stomach ache, like this could have been fatal (deadly)

The foot became progressively more swollen and developed a throbbing pain so bad that I couldn't move it, I begged them after 3 days to take me to seek medical help because I was sure I would lose the foot (they called me dramatic). Turns out a sharp rusted nail fragment that went deep into the sole of my foot was still stuck there. It needed to be debrided (cut out with dead tissue removed) and I had to go on a long course of antibiotics and receive tetanus toxoid hella late. I don't hold it against them because they were not formally educated after high school but they still had the audacity to say 'in our day we used to step on shiz and move on with our lives ' made me so angry. No dear that is gaslighting!! Telling you you don't feel that pain. It's not that bad. Reality is not real, and you are to dumb to know. I had same problem. Stacking hay in a barn. Since they are having a toxic relationship, they preffered not believe her. Anyways, my uncle took her to hospital eventually, the stupid dr said she is lying. My uncle took her back to home mad at her. Nobody showed sympathy to her, she begged. The other aunt living next door, tried to give her something to eat, failed. Appendix? I missed what the problem was, but saw that she was holding her right side in the video. It's messed up when people don't take others seriously when there's a problem. I lost 18 years of my life, because I was not able to get the right pain medications to control CRPS pain and to stop it from getting out of control. It's literally the most painful chronic pain condition on the MaGill Pain Scale and is so painful they call it "suicide disease", but doctors are still torturing patients by refusing to prescribe them the necessary pain medications. (as not controlling the pain causes it to progress and to cause more damage to bone and tissues... which does not happen when the pain is controlled.)

--- MY MEDICAL STORY --- So, when i was like 9 or 10, I was walking in the kitchen when all of a sudden I had a horrible pain in the left side of my stomach (i think some of you see where this is going). I was driven to the hospital and taken in. I couldn't eat anything as my body would just reject it. After a couple of days of pain, they determined that I had appendicitis after doing the x-ray. I went into surgery. BUT WAIT the story doesn't end here. After surgery, I said that I was still in pain and they said that was normal - until the pain didn't go away within a day or two. They did some tests and learnt 2 things. 1. I never had appendicitis 2. In the surgery, the surgeon messed up and put the knife through my bladder. Basically, if I didn't get treatment in like a week, I could die. Fun. I was transferred to a different hospital and got surgery there that stitchef my bladder back up. Though, it still wasn't great. Some of the tests basically were, lets pump liquid into his bladder until it leaks. yay fun, and painful! Overall, I was in hospital for 8 days I think but I needed another 2 or so months to fully recover. Luckily, I live in the UK so all of this was free. Fun fact - apparently the hospital stopped doing that type of surgery on children after but idk if that's true
This happened to me, basically, except I was at a relative's house and they thought I was exaggerating/probably fine and my mom, a nurse, was on the other side of the country. I kept calling her telling her it was getting worse and worse. Once I finally ended up in the hospital, they couldn't figure out what was wrong, kept asking 10-year-old me if I was pregnant or could have an STD, aaaand I'm like, "no sir, I'm f-ing 10." Turned out my appendix had exploded several days prior and I was about to damn die lol. Two surgeries and a bunch of torment later (drinking that chalky CAT scan crap when your organs are all f-ed up and you're puking... basically impossible) - I'm all good now lol.
This happened to me too basically. But I was stuborn and didnt want to go to the doctor and my parents forced me to go. I had huge spider bite that made my whole arm red and swollen that the doctor had to take the puss out left huge hole in my arm. Idk if i was life-threatening tho but doctor said it would just keep getting worse if she didnt get the puss out. I had to do weekly checkup for a month and took a bunch of pills.
If it exploded you would’ve been dead. If it’s even swollen you’d be in excruciating pain. They take it out generally because of that. I think there’s some exaggeration there.
@@mikolee8522 I don't mean explode, like, the way a bomb explodes lol. Little bit of hyperbolic language - the actual term is rupture, it ruptured, so, it busted open and bacteria/pus/whatever was leaking into the rest of my body. That's sort of why I said I was about to die. Once it ruptures, you're in trouble if they don't do something quick. And I was in unbearable pain for days before they figured out what was happening. When I had to drink the CAT scan fluid, it showed it leaking out of the burst appendix. So, aside from my word choice of "exploded," I'm not exaggerating.
@@mikolee8522 Also, you can look this up, without medical care, once your appendix gets to the point where it's ruptured, you've got about a day or so to live if it's not dealt with. They don't know when mine actually ruptured, it could have been before I got there, could have been at the actual hospital, don't know. But, I'd been going downhill REALLY fast for the couple days prior to finally being taken to the ER, it was probably a total of like 3-4 days maybe of the pain, maaaybe 5, but it could really bad the last two days and I was vomiting constantly and just, immobilized with pain, whole body felt horrendous. It was very unpleasant and quite scary. But also, being about 10 years old, I didn't really understand how bad of shape I was actually in, which is probably good, because I would have panicked. If I was suffering that much as an adult, I'd have taken myself to the hospital a LOT sooner. The surgery nicked one of my ovaries because they had to do so much scraping around to get everything (because material had leaked out of course) and they had to do it open rather than laparoscopic for the same reason, I've got like 5 different scars, was in the hospital for weeks, ended up needing a second surgery b/c I developed an abscess after the surgery site healed too quickly on the outside or whatever, and was probably close to septic because my whole body was weak and ill from the infection getting so bad before they realized they needed to go back in and it wasn't just residual pain, blah blah blah. It was nuts. So, yeah, I used a colorful word, but still, that's what happened lol.
Parents really need to realize it’s not always just over reacting, like there are some over protective parents and then the parents who will be like “you’re over reacting” to a kid who is clearly in a lot of pain
That's true if my kid ever called me from work or something when she's older I would seriously ask her like a whole bunch of questions and take it seriously because if you're taking the time to call your mother when you've finally got independence it's clearly serious.

Happened to my sister. My mom (a doctor) said she was faking to get out of doing homework. My dad (also a doctor) got home, immediately noticed something was up, felt her tummy and her head, noticed her tummy was not soft and squishy like it's supposed to be and her face was burning with fever. Rushed my sister to the hospital where he worked where they removed her appendix, it had gotten badly infected. My mom never owned up to it and to this day I don't ask her about medical issues because she has a habit of downplaying stuff. Sucks because her patients love her.
@@Schaemia It doesn't necessarily work that way. A lot of professionals act different when it comes to patients vs. family members, so it's less likely that she questions or downplays symptoms when it comes to patients.
My mom also thought that I was faking first when my stomach was hurting on a morning of school day. She tried to get me to go to school. Ended up in the hospital and had to wait two days till my appendix was blown until they knew for sure I needed a surgery. That pain. And my mom still blames the doctor for not cutting earlier.
Golly! My friend had his spleen rupture during class at the Uni. We were in class together and he looked okay at the start, but that day we were working in pairs for a presentation. Within the first 20 minutes of class (this is a 2+ hour seminar) He mentioned a pain on his side that initially was like a stomach ache and quickly evolved to something he couldn’t even sit down for. I had a bad feeling from the way he was shifting his body in his seat, and his expression. I told him at first, that he should use the restroom, then told him to head to the school’s medical facility. He just wasn’t feeling well. Finally I shut his laptop and told him to pack up, that we were going to Kaiser. (His provider) which was less then 10 minutes away. He kept insisting that he’d be fine. I packed up my own stuff and I dragged his butt out of class. On the way to my car, (I wasn’t gonna let him drive), I intercepted another friend from our study group. He didn’t have a class at the time. I caught him up to speed, and he offered to take our friend to the provider , so I can return to class and take notes or whatever for both of us. I let him take our friend, and in the group chat several hours later we learned that his spleen ruptured. He was home for the rest of the semester. :( he emailed his professors, and got the extended 1 year opportunity to finish those classes. As a study group, we took our notes, and forwarded him everything digitally and in person. We kept him up to speed and checked up on him. (He’s doing fine now! He recovered and graduated with us!)
this isn’t nearly as bad but one time it was just my siblings and me and my cousins home and i started feeling sick and i told my oldest sister that i thought i had a fever and she said stop being dramatic and a attention seeker. i had a fever. when my parents got back they were mad that no one listened to me and i was too because i was burning up. whatever
i got apendictis when i was 10 and its similar kind of. we were going on a walk and i felt motion sick even tho i was just walking. when we got home i started throwing up and so the next day my mum took me to the hospital and it turned out my apendix was very very close to bursting which could have killed me 😊
Tip: as a parent, NEVER ever tell your kid ‘it’s just a stomach ache’ because it could be something serious. Go home, see if their okay and go back to doing whatever you were doing. It’s always good to make sure.

I stepped on a sharp object as a teenager, in our yard that had a lot of scrap my dad used to collect and horde (planning projects that never came to fruition) and my parents refused to take me to the doctor even though I lost sensation and motor function in my lower leg. It's messed up when people don't take others seriously when there's a problem. It's literally the most painful chronic pain condition on the MaGill Pain Scale and is so painful they call it "suicide disease", but doctors are still torturing patients by refusing to prescribe them the necessary pain medications. --- MY MEDICAL STORY ---
So, when i was like 9 or 10, I was walking in the kitchen when all of a sudden I had a horrible pain in the left side of my stomach (i think some of you see where this is going). I was driven to the hospital and taken in. I couldn't eat anything as my body would just reject it. After a couple of days of pain, they determined that I had appendicitis after doing the x-ray. I went into surgery.
BUT WAIT
the story doesn't end here. After surgery, I said that I was still in pain and they said that was normal - until the pain didn't go away within a day or two. They did some tests and learnt 2 things.
1. I never had appendicitis

The organs really said, “Do a flip!”
My dad would just be like "oh its okay, its nothing." And probably wait until it affects my daily life.
This happened to me, basically, except I was at a relative's house and they thought I was exaggerating/probably fine and my mom, a nurse, was on the other side of the country. I kept calling her telling her it was getting worse and worse. Once I finally ended up in the hospital, they couldn't figure out what was wrong, kept asking 10-year-old me if I was pregnant or could have an STD, aaaand I'm like, "no sir, I'm f-ing 10."
Turned out my appendix had exploded several days prior and I was about to damn die lol.
Wait you didnt feel the pain when it exploded,
If it exploded you would’ve been dead.

Ow that's a wholesome story, really nice to hear he was able to graduate with you guys 😊
You're a great friend!
Your the best friends that will ever exist on planet earth. (:
this isn’t nearly as bad but one time it was just my siblings and me and my cousins home and i started feeling sick and i told my oldest sister that i thought i had a fever and she said stop being dramatic and a attention seeker. i had a fever. when my parents got back they were mad that no one listened to me and i was too because i was burning up. whatever
i got apendictis when i was 10 and its similar kind of. we were going on a walk and i felt motion sick even tho i was just walking. when we got home i started throwing up and so the next day my mum took me to the hospital and it turned out my apendix was very very close to bursting which could have killed me 😊
Tip: as a parent, NEVER ever tell your kid ‘it’s just a stomach ache’ because it could be something serious. Go home, see if their okay and go back to doing whatever you were doing. It’s always good to make sure.
Idk, call another guardian? Or always have an emergency contact for the kids, like an aunt living nearby or a trusted neighbor. I doubt this happens all the time.
@@pennyinheaven yeah those work too.
Look, they're probably just faking it anyway. There's no need for all that.
@@casperix3741 but what if they’re not? If a child is actually worried about it you should check. Better safe than sorry.
@@gailasprey7787 It's not about that though, it's about them learning to respect you and your authority. If you say that they are fine, then they are fine. And any defiance against that is disobedience.
