From a reddit AMA "Hi, I'm Jana. In 1993 I was featured on the first season of Nickelodeon GUTS as "The Warrior." Because I had a perfect score during my show, I was asked back to compete in what would be the only GUTS All Stars show. With much luck and determination, I won that show too. Then five years later, while performing as a gymnast at Sea World Orlando doing a ski and gymnastics show, I broke my neck (C5-6 sublexation) and became paralyzed from the chest down. No longer having an able body to fuel my career as a stuntwoman, I went back to college to get a Interpersonal Communications degree at UCF, followed by a Masters in Liberal Studies at Rollins College."

Same AMA Yes, I am a much more self aware and respectful person after facing adversity. I was injured at 20-years-old, and in reflection feel like I was a kid that didn't know much at the time (as many can relate to). After being stripped of everything I thought I was, I was able to rebuild myself in the way wanted and able to decipher the truly important things in life. The people that stuck around were people who truly loved me for me. And by embracing the boundaries my disability, I was able to showcase my inner strength, something many people would have never seen otherwise.
I feel lucky because by nature I'm a very positive person. So that's translated through into my life as a wheelchair user, and I do tend to see the good in everything without having to try. I also think that if someone was an asshole before they were in a wheelchair, chances are good they'll still be one after.

2 things i never knew you needed for the obstacle course till rewatching with these guys: you wanna go sub ten on the cargo net, and *never* go high in the elastic jungle
From a reddit AMASome stunts we did get to practice first, like the bungee basketball game. Others, like the obstacle courses and the bungee maze, we weren't allowed to see first or even watch the competitor before us.
You guys have to do an interview with Jana please. Her story is incredible and she was an athlete all of her life til the accident. She needs to be shout out by you guys. She really defines the word guts

Jana's not only a Guts "All-Star" she won the ALL All-Star competition. She's the greatest competitor they ever had and JonBoy needs to create the Guts "Hall of Fame" with Jana being the first inductee!
Maybe a guest/ interview. She could watch and tell you what she was thinking as she won the all star even. Then talk about how she made a negative in life a positive!

Jomboy doing the trade, then saying chris was going to kill it in the elastic jungle, just to put up the worst time in show history has got the be the best watchin moment of all time.
I read through the old AMA others have referenced. Something she shared was the contestants aren't allowed to test the obstacle course prior to filming and aren't allowed to watch the other competitors.
That's why so many don't catch on to dive under the elastic bands
But every kid that goes low, goes low and to the right (towards camera), not a single one goes left. It’s just odd.
@@robertcrist124 a lot do, probably the easiest approach. But a lot go high for some odd reason. 2 in this episode did. Jimmy always gets so frustrated when the kids go high, especially after someone goes low.
@@keithlofton7089 he wasn't commenting on the high/low divide, he was saying that everyone who goes low goes towards the camera(low and right) while almost nobody goes away from the camera(low and left)

Jana went on to win GUTS All Stars. She was apparently paralyzed at Sea World 5 years later. She did an AMA Thread. I think Jomboy & Jake should reach out and interview her, after they finish this series.

The boys’ reaction to Chris beefing it in the pool is the biggest laugh I’ve had in weeks.
Easily the best thing about these Watchin’s is the anticipation of whether or not a kid will go high on the Elastic Jungle and then the catharsis of watching your disappointment when they do.

If a competitor has a perfect score (1200) going into the crag, the only way they lose overall is:
A: 2nd place overall has at minimum 900 going into the crag (tie for 1st in one round and 2nd place in the others)
B: 2nd place overall must win the crag for a final total of 1625 (900+725)
C: 1st overall must take last place in the crag ending with 1575 (1200+375)
I think Mike might have gone and done a bump between episodes to get that drastic energy shift.

There's not much that I look forward to on a weekly basis in terms of things I watch, but Jomboy and Jake watching Guts is definitely there as must watch.
Also, a real shame what happened to Jana, but it seems like she lived up to her nickname and is a true warrior through it all.

Seeing the comments about Jana really sucks to see. She was a really good competitor in these definitely the best we’ve seen. Jimmy doing the player swap and still losing is hilarious.

the boogie board race was brutal because the overhead horizontal safety line wasn't fully taut so the contestants have to drag their own running line out of the dipping overhead line all while sinking. Chris was the best example because he is literally held back and then submerged at the finish line. Guts!

That was the Josh Donaldson of GUTS trades for Jomboy. Came in last place in 2 of 3 events post trade and only managed to beat Lisa because of his first round tie for 1st.
For those that want to know what happened to Jana, keep reading. Warning, it is very sad.

Fuggg yusss. More Guts! Cant wait till Global Guts comes along. Watching nick game shows was a highlight of my childhood. I had dreams of playing on Guts (specifically the sideways "zero-g" obstacle course & the Crag), but *especially* Legends of the Hidden Temple. I'm glad i can re-watch this with along with a couple of other grown man children.

How do you watch on kid go high in yhe elastic jungle and struggle. Them watch the next go low and fly through it, o ly to then decide to go high when its your turn? Chris really sold there
