you gotta do one of these but trying to get the worst team like with hitter strikeouts or pitcher earned runs or something
yes
a lot of potential with this idea
I swear I’ve been thinking this forever. Name the most obscure players post 2000 and whoever has the least amount of at bats or least WAR wins
OPS- (negative)
Total points in OPS below all time league average.
Also, how about the all time Yips draft for guys who were stars and then suddenly were completely awful. Chuck Knoblauch, Jose Agree (from MVP to DFA), Joba Chamberlain.
Would be good to do the reverse of the previous drafts, trying to do the least amount of home runs strikeouts or hits with a qualified number of at bats or games played
"I'm gonna rectify an old issue" holy shit, he's taking Wil Myers first
Lucas almost cried tears of joy with that Nap pull lmao
Jake was absolutely ruined after not picking Mays. You can see the exact moment his heart rips in half
Tbf missing Willie is a massive oversight. I'd be kicking myself too
And now he’s passed away. Stings a little more.
Should have picked Mays as a Met just to maintain some credibility and not exclude him from the list.
@@JohnMerrittMusiche died because of the Bonds pick.
He really said I cant think of a catcher then took a 1B from the team that just got a catcher who played his entire season in MN inducted into the hall lol
Ted Williams being 6th best possible answer even though he went to actual war in the middle of his career shows how really good that guy was.
If they draft some pitchers, Bob Feller a notable member of the long war service club losing 3+ seasons. Cleveland pitcher WAR leader.
Screaming Willie mays the whole time lmao.
Eddie Collins before him was painful
WAR Draft ⚾️😀
War Draft: 😟🫡🇺🇸
😂😂😂😂😂😂
Ted Williams 1.01
Harry Kalas did in fact say "Michael Jack Schmidt" on the 500th HR call
❤ I always root for Kane Kalas at the World Series of Poker for no other reason than his dad. Huge fan of that voice.
To say Joe Buck or Jack Buck really angered me for some reason. I get he's not a national broadcaster but come on.
It’ll never get better than this episode here
I love how happy Lucas is with this draft. 😂
This is what I have been waiting for since the draft videos started
I really enjoy Lucas' fun facts and insane baseball trivia knowledge
Jake having a Jimmy-level mental breakdown is great lmao
When you play in 23 All-Star games for one franchise and can't get picked in an All-Time draft. Oh dear.
24
@@marshallknox662 24 total but 23 with the Giants.
Haven’t finished watching but the fact they don’t choose him makes me not want to finish lol. Annnnnddd he just said Barry bonds lol.
This is a top tier draft. Foolish really brings it.
It's incredible that Willie Mays wasn't picked
5 minutes in and I am SCREAMING Willie Mays
When no one was picking him they legit had me questioning myself when he was the name that immediately came to mind for WAR with a single team.
It's insane that Lucas wouldn't allow Jolly to play Ripken at third -- where he spent the last few years of his career and 22.7% of all of his games played.
And it's even more absurd that he decided Ernie Banks wasn't eligible at short. He only played about one season more at first base than shortstop (45.4% of all appearances).
Willie FUCKIN Mays… ARE YOU KIDDING ME?!
At the 2007 Hall of Fame induction ceremony, during the introductions of the living inductees in attendance, tthere were massive ovations for every Oriole (because of the Ripken crowd) and the few Padres (because of Gwynn). However, there were three people not from those two teams who also got massive cheers: Sandy Koufax, Hank Aaron and Willie Mays. Koufax got it because I guess he had become sort of a recluse but showed up that year. Aaron is well, Aaron. But he was particularly on the baseball radar because Bonds was nearing the HR record at the time.
But Mays... the reverence for that guy goes beyond all fandoms, all age groups. There are probably Dodger fans who would say "fuck all Giants... except #24." The cheer for him gave me goosebumps at the time, and still does when I think about it all these years later.
And yet he's never on the tip of the tongue with the Jomboy crew when doing all-time baseball greats. Huge dafuq.
@@6thwilbury2331 The say hey kid. You start talking about the Negro leagues and you’re talking about the greatest player to ever live (RIP Josh Gibson that’s an entirely different discussion). Still the best ever in WAR even after losing years to racism, nobody will ever match him.
@@Polyphemus89 Willie lots years due to the Korean War also.
How excited Lucas got for Nap was amazing
When Jake said Bonds I was mentally screaming NOOOOOOOOOOOO
The disrespect for not saying Willie Mays is so strong it could kill him
Foolish=instant watch
With this being said, not choosing Joe mauer for catcher hurt my soul
This has been the best WAR draft since Nam.
RIP Willie Mays. They should’ve drafted you
as a sox fan, i was screaming luke appling’s name while watching. i don’t have many friends.
Shelfy gotta come get Jake for calling Harry Kalas Joe Buck. Come on, man.
Rest in peace Willie Mays
“That could mean a couple different things..” we better get a war draft with players who were in wars next
I was thinking Nap Lajoie the whole time and wasn't sure what team he was on. Awesome call by Foolish.
he was on the naps! they named the team after him!
of course the problem then becomes you have to remember what they changed the team's name to when Nap Lajoie left (i.e. the Indians).
@@gabbyty7144 and you know what, I know the naps went to the Indians because I know they were the Cleveland Naps but forgot the team was named after him.
Now I won’t forget it again, thank you!
RIP Willie Mays.
My Roman Empire
Wow, I would not have guessed Carew had more career WAR than Killebrew, since Carew had a good chunk of his career with the Angels and Killer was a Senator/Twin for so long. That just shows how much of a liability Killebrew must have been defensively.
Chemistry in this video is amazing
Bailey's pronunciation of "Lajoie" is *technically* the way a person with a thick Québécois accent might pronounce it lol... but more accurately it'd be pronounced closer to "La-Jouah"
I always hear it VERY American-ized, usually "LA-zho-AY." This must sting the ears of French-speaking people in the same way my ears bleed when I hear white people ordering sake, sashimi and tempura at Japanese restaurants.
One of the goofier pronunications I've heard is "la-HOY-ay," as if the "jo" in the middle is Spanish.
The way Bailey said is how Nap pronounced it. Yes, it is different than it is typically pronounced. But for Nap specifically, it is correct.
And 'more accurately' Wagner's last name would be pronounced closer to 'Vah-gna', but neither of them pronounced his name 'more accurately'
The draft vids are my fav type of video, but the Willie Mays erasure kills me as a Giants fan. Happened at least once before …
I've been wanting a WAR draft for a while. So I absolutely loved this! More WAR drafts, please.
Willie Mays not going in the first three picks is inexcusable.
Kid in the middle actually knows baseball and not just what he sees on instagram like everyone else at JM
I've waited so long for this episode and didn't disappoint! Thank you guys for this one. Would love more?
Always awesome to get foolish on these
You should do a stolen bases draft
I know this was filmed much earlier, but Say Hey literally passed the day you posted this 🤦🏼♀️ smh being forgotten literally broke his heart. Otherwise great video 😂 even when he's behind the camera Lucas dropping absurd tidbits.
It is embarrassing how excited I was to see this video pop up.
Grateful Willie Mays lived long enough for the doofus on the left to forget his name.
I love how much Lucas was enjoying this lol. Also love the Nap pick, had him in my mind the whole time.
13:16 Jeff Bagwell came up as a third baseman but since the Red Sox had Wade Boggs they didn’t really have a spot for him and traded him to Houston. But the Astros had old man Dan favorite Ken Caminiti at third so Bagwell was moved to first.
And the Red Sox weren't gonna switch Bagwell to play first because they had future MVP Mo Vaughan at first
I was SCREAMING Ken Griffey Jr.
Also, I want to see Lucas do one of these at least once. Just to see how close he can get to the perfect one lol.
BEEN WAITING FOR THIS ONE🔥🔥🔥
Dave Stieb is the Blue Jays all time WAR leader. And should be in the Hall!
Hey, Jolly, love these Draft videos and your coming up with an interesting metric. Keep up the good work!
Put some Respect on one of the all time greats Jake!! Harry Kalas with the Michael Jack Schmidt call
Jake missing out on Mays a tough look can’t blame him for being upset over that one, this actually wasn’t super challenging
This is so 🔥🔥
All time war draft?? Give me Winston Churchill 1st overall
Give me Hannibal Barca.
Foolish has a super serious thinking face.
THIS is the draft I wanted
RIP The Say Hey Kid Willie Mays
I was thinkin Eddie Collins too, but he played his career evenly between 2 teams.
MY WORLDS ARE COLLIDING!!!!
The call for micheal jack schmidt jake was refering to was made by the late great Harry Kalas
Finally the oldtimers!
You gotta do one of these but the all batting stance team, guys like frank catalanato, Kevin youkillis etc
C: Bench
1B: Pujols
2B: Morgan
SS: Wagner
3B: Schmidt
LF: Bonds
CF: Mays
RF: Ruth
DH: Williams
(Shohei honorable mention)
I was praying Ben Zobrist got taken when they were desperate for 2nd baseman
Thank you Foolish for pronouncing Nap Lajoie correctly.
These videos are so fun when Bailey joins ❤
For Jake's final pick my head jumped to Ben Zobrist, but I don't think he had quite enough to win it for him.
I would love to see a pitchers hit or RBIs draft pre DH rule...would be so goofy but awesome to see
Absolutely have to do this with pitchers once you go through all the divisions.
The Griffey answer for Seattle was obvious, but could Edgar Martinez have been picked for 3rd? He had 500 and some odd games at 3rd, basically his whole early career.
If so, he would have been 68 WAR at 3rd, not as good as FB or Jake's picks there, but better than Jolly's. Of course he got the win anyway so it didn't matter.
Would love to see this with season WAR
The Jose Vidro Pick gave me Joy!
Best draft Ever!
RIP WILLIE MAYS 🕊️❤
3rd base for Bagwell lol
Next got to be pitching rotation OF Starters with the most wins and relievers with the most saves. AKA the 2 most important pitching stats imaginable
I kept on saying Walter Johnson then realized that Pitchers were included
Jolly has a Nap picture on his wall. at least he did when he did that youtuber apartment tour on his channel.
It would be great to have a running graphic of teams remaining for us casually playing along.
I think this one is actually a little easier because you don't have to pick a certain year
the one ive been waiting for we need lucas back on one tho
I’ve been screaming Nellie Fox at my screen this whole video
You guys should draft teams and play those teams in MLB the show
Gotta get a 2020 version of drafts, because it’s never gonna get selected in regular drafts
There were 3 killer B's. Bell, Bagwell, and Biggio.
It is Michael Jack Schmidt, but it was Harry Kalas on the call
I cannot cannot cannot believe that Willie Mays went undrafted ya goofs
Please do a dead ball era draft with those funny names like Mordecai Brown, Grover Cleveland Alexander, Brickyard Kennedy...
Buttercup dickerson
For a second there I thought Jolly Olerud was going to pick John Olive.
Surprised they didn’t go Ben Zobrist at the end
I'm curious if Lucas would have let them pick a pitcher as their DH. Walter Johnson hit for his entire 21 year career (pre DH) while racking up 166.9 bWAR for the Senators/Twins.
Love me some foolish
I would like to point out "fat man" Tony Gwynn had 5 golden gloves.
Does this mean we’re going to also get a DRS draft??
Kinda surprised miggy wasn't picked
Oh, the doofus on the left forgot Harmon Killebrew’s name. That makes him taking Bonds even more appalling.
I thought Gary Carter would be taken second for Catchers
