    I love the 10 seconds dedicated to abstinence. It's so easy to leave that section out, but included, it shows compassion for kids who know what they want.

      Exactly just because it shouldn't be taught as the only option (and it definitely shouldn't people who say it is are deluding themselves.) doesn't mean it should be excluded either cause remember it is a valid option and for good reason.

    Remember! Despite lube being useful mostly for non-lubricating areas, some vaginas don't produce enough natural lubricant to make sex comfortable, and that's 100% okay! Lube is a godsend for *all* orifices in need, whether it's for sexual *or* medical reasons!

    The emphasis on it being entirely your choice to start or not start a sexual relationship is a relief, I’m ace so it’s not really the same as being abstinent because abstinence is a choice and being asexual is an orientation, but I’m glad it was acknowledged that not everyone wants sex in a shame free way.
    Having sex is fine, not having sex is also fine! People need to stop worrying about other people’s sex lives beyond their own and their partners’.

    A few ladies came to my school to teach us about sex and they would have helped us more if they didn't come at all.
    They said that having sex is like holding your hands together as someone tries to pull them apart, it's strong at first but it becomes weak if you do it many times, they also asked us (the guys) what we would like better, a girl that tells the us on our wedding day that we're the 27th person that made her happy or a girl that tells us that she's the happiest she's ever been.
    I find this type of education really absurd, it tells girls that they should feel ashamed for not being virgins anymore and it tells guys that girls are less "valuable" once they lose their virginity.

    *Facepalm* Female genitals are not called a "vagina". What was in the cute chalk drawing is called the "vulva". The vagina is strictly speaking the internal canal connecting the external vulva to the internal structures (uterus, fallopian tubes, etc.)

    Something I think we don't teach enough of in schools is LGBTQ+. I'm not saying we have to teach everything about the community but the basics would be good. Stuff like how to have safe lesbian and gay sex, romantic and sexual attraction are different, transgender, genderfluid, asexual, aromantic, bisexual, pansexual, polyamory, intersex, nonbinary and agender, and of course learning that you don't have to label yourself!

    I had horrible sex Ed. We had a Mormon come to our health class and tell us how he shamed his wife into having a STI test years after she had sex and that sex was terrible outside marriage. And then our actual teacher showed us a bunch of photos of STIs. Luckily my parents taught me better sex Ed, and we had another mandatory class that taught consent (among other things).

    A common theme for sex ed is that when women have a lot of it, it’s not good anymore. The whole sticky tape scenario.
    But that implies a married couple won’t be having a lot of sex either because her allure will fade. Not a great theme to promote.

I turned out great, so did alot of kids in my school. I got a sour taste from the comment about how "If a girl has sex that's completely ******* normal. What's the purpose for single out its normal for girls?

    • @samw1501
      @samw1501 Před 9 lety +27

      Maika Isham The cultural idea of virginity being linked to purity is damaging, especially to young women, whom the association is strongest for. Why should a young woman be seen as "damaged goods" just because she's had sex? It's degrading and sexist, and a serious blocker to gender equality.

    • @NickNayls
      @NickNayls Před 9 lety +15

      Maika Isham they single out that it's normal for girls because nobody ever questions that it's normal for guys. Girls are the only ones seen as "less pure" or "sluts" or "dirty" if they have sex. There is no derogatory term for guys that have a lot of sex. And you may have turned out great- i'm sure there were kids in your school who ended up with STD's and pregnant who didn't.
