I miss The Patriot Act so much. I really wish a TV Network would’ve picked it up because it didn’t work for streaming. Gone too soon.
It was cancelled because his deep dives were not well received by powerful people. I was not surprised.
Supremely underrated show. Anyone that missed it should go back and check it out: the content is still so relevant.
@@lw3269 And by that I imagine you mean oil barons in SA, UAE etc.
Man that show was just brilliant! 6 seasons evidently but felt like 2 minutes
Me too!!! Was one of my favorite shows. Hilarious and I learned so much
I want Hasan Minhaj to take over The Daily Show…
He has the intellect. He conquered the WH Press corps dinner.
damn thats a brilliant idea. perfect timing and perfect fit. patriot act showed me he could handle hosting... and hosting something so familiar to him like the daily show
I've been thinking about this since the announcement
He would be perfect
YES, OH GOD YES!
Hasan is another Daily Show alum that hit it big. Maybe he is on the short list for the next host of the Daily Show. He would crush it
ooo I hope so, but America is still iffy with brown people so 🤷♂
I was thinking the same thing...
For some reason, I just have this feeling that Hasan would be great as the host of a satirical news-parody talk show… hmm…
YESSSS!!!!
Yessss. I miss him since Netflix canceled his news comedy special.
He's SO funny on this interview. The book part was hilarious. Maybe the audience's reactions weren't picked up on the mic, or it wasn't the right crowd for this humor, but I felt like he def deserved more energy lol.
I always love Hasan's comedy because it makes you stop after laughing and get introspective about society. I miss seeing him regularly on Netflix series.
That last bit about the queen being friends with Malala was hilarious!
Hasan should make that into a bit in his next special.
Why? Could he not just have explained that they were eons apart and Pakistan didn't even exist then.
@@thehamster2301 cause colonial legacy means one’s choices kind of still created the other’s reality? ie the whole nuanced point he was making
@@thehamster2301 liz 1 really ramped up british imperialism. it's not very direct, but if liz 1 were much less competent the british empire would have been much weaker, as at the critical early point they wouldn't have built momentum
@@magica3526 while that is true, we weren't the only ones laying claim to the world.....Columbus anyone?... We were just more successful 😊
@@UnsolicitedContext I'm sure his little girl appreciated the nuances.
So nice to see Hasan back on TV
What if he hosted The Daily Show
Love this man because we need his vital perspective.
That's what sets him apart. A lot of comedians are clever but you can tell he's a little deeper than most and what makes him a popular suggestion for taking the baton from Trevor Noah.
@@baronesselsavonfreytag-lor1134 a good suggestion.
He’s a modern day philosopher. Except the other modern day philosophers have opposing ideas on that notion. They disagree to agree.
@@baronesselsavonfreytag-lor1134 Swooon! Hasan would be amazing in that gig. It was a travesty when his first one got cancelled.
@@burnyizland Patriot Act was amazing.
having to explain the complications of international relations to your daughter over a kid's book is so funny. get her started early recognizing the nuance between the good and bad things people do!
Literally just finished watching The King's Jester. It was incredible. One of the best comedy specials I've ever seen.
Same. So good. Makes me just wanna go rewatch Homecoming King again, too!
I watched him live on tour and it was an amazing show! Ready to watch it again.
Lost it at “We live in Greenwich, Connecticut, which is ‘Get Out’ white.” 😂😂😂😂😂😂
I freaking love Hasan and I love that of course Seth is one of the only interviewers to actually say his name correctly! 💗💗
I appreciated that, too. Sounds like they have known each other for awhile.
I like him, but the name pronunciation thing bugs me. I speak a few languages, and my name is pronounced differently in each. It never bothers me. I know that is the equivalent of my name or just how it will be said.
Note: one of the languages includes the one his name is from, and writing it in Roman characters (as English is) limits the ability of others to pronounce it "correctly".
@@jcspoon573 True, but Hasan has spoken out publicly on how he would like his name to be pronounced in English! He used to go by what folks defaulted to, but he came out and publicly said that he'd actually prefer XXX - and it would be disrespectful to disregard that, especially when the sounds do exist in English!
@@regisphilbin222 Yet so many of us polyglots go about our interactions without concern. And the sounds don't have much distinction in English, we have only 1 H, 1 S, unlike the Arabic origin of his name.
@@jcspoon573 Hmm, so I also speak multiple languages and have an unusual and ethnic name. How my name is said in English vs my native tongue is different, and it is pronounced differently in other languages in other countries I lived in. At the same time though, I mean there's more of some basic respect that I like to hear when people say my name - for example, I do hope that people spell it correctly (especially on things like email replies where my name is already there), say my whole name (just two syllables, but people like shortening it for some reason), and at least I personally prefer it when people try to pronounce it the way I like (which is also very easy in English, by the way)
“Everybody there either works at a hedge fund or is a war criminal” 😂😂😂😂😂👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 Lost it omg
It is a little pandering, don’t you think?
Not just in Saudi Arabia, UAE has totally different pay structures for various Asian workers vs. Americans , etc. My husband worked in Dubai for a decade. He rose through the ranks of a multinational engineering firm eventually because he is exceptionally hard working and talented, but being Pakistani made it a slow process because even Indian managers discriminated against him.
Considering the border beef that India and Pakistan seem to have, it’s entirely possible that they may have actually made it harder, though I do have to note that geopolitical tensions don’t necessarily translate into workplace issues. And it’s not a simple correlation either, what with the aforementioned pay structure differences! It’s a complicated thing!
It’s not an Indian thing, or a Pakistani thing, or even a south Asian problem for that matter. The way they mostly see it is that your ethnicity is registered before your professional skills. They don’t see an engineer first, they see a race, and depending on how saturated a particular race is, they see the person as easily replaceable. So say for example you’re a hardworking Indian or Pakistani or Bangladeshi and if you try communicating that you’d like to get a promotion, the management doesn’t entertain those requests seriously because they’ll just replace you with another person of your race because of how densely populated the UAE is with desis.
As far the south Asians at higher positions are concerned, they always look at young folks as a threat. In healthy work cultures, superiors feel the need to mentor somebody new and they genuinely feel a sense of happiness when they see somebody they’ve trained climb up the ranks. Unfortunately, much like in the case of the person you mentioned and for many others, those people view new folks of the same race as a threat to replace them, so they don’t bother much in terms of mentorship or defense.
@@eskarinakatz7723 That's generous of you but even though the uneven pay is company policy, Indian workers told my husband when he granted their requests for vacation days or whatever, "My family and I are surprised that you are so nice, growing up we were told that Pakistani people are monsters who eat babies". The "border beef" is mostly one-sided because of the violent xenophobia of the Modi government and right wing extremist Hindu nationalists. They are constantly spreading misinformation and blaming Pakistan for stuff they do.
@@shawkiizzat The Saudis and multinational companies may be dispassionate about it, but Indian managers promoted other Indians regardless of qualifications above others, and some blindly discriminated against Pakistani employees. Then his Indian underlings were dismayed when my husband treated them fairly and admitted they had been fed terrible propaganda about Pakistani people.
@@shawkiizzat Thanks for your perspective! The way it’s explained could also be used to explain how, among others, misogynistic discrimination and trans discrimination in the workplace may work-not seeing a person for their skills, but rather for their being a woman or trans (especially if they don’t pass as their true gender vs their Assigned Gender At Birth (AGAB)).
The thing he mentioned in the book that s exactly what parenting feels like… u want to tell the kid the truth but then they ask questions to which u cannot give a straight answer…
I love how he thinks _Cat in The Hat_ and _Where The Wild Things Are_ are "the old classics". 😂
Hans Christian Anderson, A A Milne, and Kenneth Grahame would like a word!
The audience did him dirty on that new book bit. That hit my funny bone.
I saw Hasan Minhaj live in SF and he’s as awesome as he seems! His kids are super blessed to have him as a parent
every time Minjah does media rounds it's a treat
I miss Hassan so much. His voice is his own, and it is hilarious. Here is hoping his beautiful, young family is doing very, very well. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗💋💋💋💐🫶🏻
Patriot Act was such a great show, I do miss it.
Hasan would be great hosting the Daily Show with Trevor leaving soon.
I remember Hassan with this joke in 2017:
"For those of you who don’t know me, I am a correspondent on The Daily Show, on Comedy Central. Now, I see some of you whispering to each other-“What is Comedy Central?” Um, it’s basically an internship for Netflix."
Would have been hella hilarious for him to go back and be like, "Welp, guess Netflix was for the internship for this"
Great Idea!
@@mlokole254 i mean, he is, i think is one of the more intelligent, politically-aware comedian right now. And he can connect with some of the young viewer's POV. And he is just fearless. He could be a more charismatic John Oliver.
I miss Hasan’s show! His show was so technological and multi racial (reflective of our upcoming generations ands I love it!). As a Gen Xer, I’d often have to Google his contemporary cultural references - trying to stay on top of things!!: )
Cherish those conversations. I recall the terror of the grandparents wanting, nay , insisting they see school marks.
Hasan please host The Daily Show. I miss your hand gesture 😁
Patriot Act one of the best series of all time! Hasan you a legend gonna watch the Kings Jester tonight 🎉
I love that guy with a passion. He’s a fucking gold mine. Preach bro! The world NEEDS people like him😂😅
Love him, he provides vital perspective
Omg the quality, intellect, connectedness, courage, informedness & savvy of this man👍🏼💯💥🌟🔥✨⭐❤️
Love his research, comedy and perspective
YES...!!! I've always wanted to see a conversation between Seth and Hasan. Thank you.
Brooooo I am deaddddd Lolol "Daddy are they friends?" I had to pause the video and burst out laughing. Like seriously thinking, how do i explain this to my daughter if i had one ahahaha.
His MONOCHROMATIC TONES in that special are freaking perfection. Yes looks, yes looks!
His new special is one of the best I've seen in a while... So good.
I just love Hasan. One of my favorite comedians
I miss his show on Netflix. I learned a lot.
"one could arguuue..." 😂😂
Brilliant!
His energy is AMAZING 💙✨
Hasan is one of the alumni from John Stewart's Daily show that is crushing it still!
What an absolutely adorable man Hasan Minhaj is!
You guys need the book Rotten and Rascal: The Two Terrible Pterosaur Twins. Surprise ending that my kids and I loved 😂
I loved the special!!!!
I LOVE the king's Jester...really enjoyed it!
He was great in Batman unburied as the riddler. Had no idea his voice fit the character so well until I heard it
Glad to see Hasan back, I've missed him.
When they said old books, I thought they were going back to the stories of Hans Christian Andersen and writers like that. Damn I’m old… the “old” books came about after my childhood save for Dr. Seuss and my parents didn’t buy his books nor did I like them when I saw them at friends homes. I got read stories like The Red Shoe… classic fairy tales.
My favorite book in 3rd grade was “And to Think That I Saw It on Mulberry Street”, by Dr Seuss. P.S. no one ever read me stories.
Yeah, I thought it was going to be about old German/Brothers Grimm type stories about abandoning children, and maiming children, and eating children...
@@marks.3303 yeah I guess those are ancient 😢
Lucky you! All I got read to me were the bible and biblical-inclined stories. I made sure my children were never exposed to that.
@@bonniejosavland3227, or maybe not for children after all, until Disney smoothed them out
Love to see and hear Hasan! I like the jokes from another culture ❤️⚘️😊!
What do you mean? Hasan and Seth are both Americans, and this interview is on American TV channel
The Giving Tree was my favorite for the longest time. I cried every. damn. time. Oh and the Velveteen Rabbit, and Corduroy!
Old kid books, classics 😂 but you gotta love them. Yep, I had to read to my mom, she never read to me. Hasan, you’re outstanding!!!
He is fabulous. Fabulously interesting and fabulously intelligent.
"Are they friends?" 🤣🤣🤣
We saw him at Mohegan Sun in the dark dark forest of Connecticut in Uncasville. It was an entertaining show. HASAN we miss Patriot Act❗
I miss him so much
An actual interview? I thought they only posted the closer looks on YT
Hasan for daily show!!!
WHAT A FIT. THE GREEN SUIT. KILLIN IT.
Hasan for daily show host 🙏🙏🙏
I hope this guy gets to be the new host of the Daily Show. Dude's hilarious.
Love, Love, Love the suit!!!

The green is phenomenal

i just love how his mind works
😂One could argue....SO many of world's problem trace back to "Her"! 🤣
Hasan is pretty damn cool. I hope I see a lot more content from him ....my question is who is this Seth guy that was "there" aswell (I jest)
Love Hasan, and this suit is 🔥🔥
love the green suit

My dad did the same thing.. but he made me read the paper.
Love him.
I can relate...
Love Hasan. Glad he's back! 🎃🍁🍂🍁😎
I really like how Seth has the proper pronunciation down for Hasan's name.
This guy is so great. We need MORE.
I’ve missed Hassan sooo much
that suit is an amazing green
Thank you Seth for saying his name correctly!
i miss his show on Netflix
Hasan's new special was hilarious
Thanks for supporting the NRDC!
I love HA-san MIN-haj. There, I said it. ❤
It must be nice to be able to interview someone who interviews other people. Feels like a conversation more than an interview. Hasan Minaj for Daily Show?
He would be a good Bond
Our schools need to be reformed. We have to teach children to think. What it means to be a part of society. Why we all matter. We need to end grading, the children are there to learn, and not to be judged.
That would be amazing
I basically agree. The weird thing about the US is that they have both some of the best and the worst teachers in the world. I often use their teaching ideas but am apalled when I read about the quality of teaching of other teachers in the US.
Love the suit 👏
Now I want to see a segment with Hasan having children's books pitched at him. :))
I felt that "Lets just read the giving tree"
When he said old books I thot he meant Aesop's fables or the like and i feel ancient.
@Message Me Now ±⑤③⓪②③⓪③③④① you ought to be ashamed of yourself
Daily Show! Daily Show! Daily Show! Please Hasan, you're the only one who could soothe my sorrows over Trevor leaving.
his new special is hilarious
I miss Patriot Act.
get out white ... slayed`
what killer theme for hassan at begnong
Hasan practically does sign language. Hope he learns so i can learn
Why don’t you just learn 🤨
you should learn, it’s such a fun language and you can express things you can’t in english. super cool. especially if you’re fidgety like me, it can be easier to learn than spoken word
First 3 books I still have! Not originals, I have bought them multiple times.
