@@SD-hs4bpabsolutely can ask anything...well almost 😂 I lost two hundred pounds over the course of two years ending in 2017. Slowly I had crept back up to 296 by 2022. I new that I needed to regain control before I was back at 400 pounds. In February 2023 I was also diagnosed with diabetes. That was my moment of rededication. Since those days in March of 2022 I have returned to my roots of fasting, low glycemic index foods and low carb choices. I'm a remake. The best of all the previous models of me🎉

@@karagermano3079 @kara kara, I don’t have a cycle anymore, and did OMAD for 3 months, everyday. It broke through the massive insulin resistance I had no idea I had and which kept the weight on me. I was so resistant, I thought I had some kind of genetic setpoint that I was beholden to. But Dr Pelz and others taught me it was hormonal - my insulin levels were constantly high. Now they are relatively and consistently low due to fasting and keto/carnivore, and the weight is peeling off.

I started getting consistent with my weight loss and overall health improvement November 2022. I will be 57 this year and set a goal to get healthy and lose the weight before my birthday. This video is timely because I have experienced hair loss and realized that it coud be from OMAD. My weight loss has not slowed down. I think I will try the 3-3-1 plan moving forward. I have been fasting for 22-24 hours a day….everyday…for almost a year come July 2023. I also eat all of the healthy foods to make sure I get all of my nutritional needs, but I also eat whatever I want after I eat my healthy meal if I’m still hungry. It’s my way of satisfying my “one meal” lifestyle and it is absolutely the only way that this can be a sustainable lifestyle diet for me for the long haul or I would never stick to anything else. I was on keto for 2+ years before this and didn’t lose as much weight and I was also kind of miserable not having carbs because I was exercising so much and I needed those carbs but didn’t realize it. I am thankful for keto for helping me get back to a healthy weight but fasting jd my happy place! 🎉

I did it because I find that eating a second meal will increase bloating to painful levels. I hoped that with time my gut will heal and I can go back to eating 2 meals a day. Not really. When I tested and I eat a second meal it was always the same: the bloating is so disturbing, it's not worth eating at all. I find this lifestyle easy now (things are quiet inside) but as dr. Pelz said it does not work long term. I am slowly gaining weight (even if I did not do OMAD to lose weight, I was at least hoping that my weight will be stable. Every time I fast, I experience a headache or lightheadedness or hunger (etc) right around 20 hours. I put electrolyte powder in my water, drink it, and it goes away within 20-30 minutes.
Then everything is easy after that. I seriously feel I can fast forever. I hope you try it.
Just get to the other side to see how easy it is after that 👍
For example, I would eat dinner at 7pm on Monday. Close to dinner time on Tuesday, I was suffering. I would push through with zero calorie electrolytes (LMNT or similar), and realize I only needed to go to sleep and wake up for it to count as a full 36 hours!

I started my fasting using the Faster Way to Fat Loss, which is basically following their diet plan and counting macros. I lost 30# in about 4 months which was my goal. That being said, I read Fast, Feast, Repeat and started doing OMAD. Then I read your book and now do OMAD a couple days a week. They other 5 days I mix it up and do 16 or 18 fast. A couple times a month I do at least a 24/36 hour fast. So far I have maintained my weight loss.

I tried fasting in April with an app but every time I clicked "START" I immediately got the urge to eat something, almost like in rebellion of the app. That happened in April and May.
Then, in late May, I found your channel and started listening. I reinstalled the fasting app and started over. On Day One I did 16-8 (successfully) but then on Days 2 thru 6 I did 20-4 (successfully).
On Day 7, because I had been listening to your channel and the 20 hour long fasts went well, I did a 36 hour long fast. Drank only water, coffee, and tea and then twice I did water with electrolytes.
So that was my first week of fasting, and the bonus was a 7 lb weight loss in that first week.
I plan to do the same drill this week and beyond and I'll keep listening to and appreciating your wonderful advice.
    Thank you so much.

I can't use those apps either because I found myself checking and checking and getting hungry the more I checked. I'm trying to give myself a break and be more flexible because imo as long as I'm sticking to the general protocol, it's way better than the massive snacking I was doing. I am on OMAD but I lightened up to two-mad. I mix it up a bit and I don't force myself. This second round of my journey I am not as hard on myself or make myself stressed. I like the mix of the amount of hours of fasting and definitely not by clockwork. That would put pressure on me. I remain faithful to a low-carb & Keto-Carnivor. I won't weigh myself either but I am pretty that I am back to my desired weight.

  • @mckcustomvinyldesignllc3645

When I retired from the military in the spring of 2009 at the age of 47, I weighed 190 from the last 8 years of my career being bad eating habits, no sleep, and high stress. After retirement I automatically went back to my natural eating habit of OMAD/eating only when I was hungry and not eating past 7pm, I also started getting regular sleep (no more shift work, although I am still a night owl), I dropped from 190 to 160/165. I am disabled, so any kind of working out anymore cannot be done. I maintained that weight, and continued OMAD for 9 years. Menopause hit me hard right on my 50th birthday, but the OMAD was still working fine and my weight was constantly at 160/165. Suddenly the fall of 2018 at the age of 56, out of nowhere, I gained 5 lbs in August, another 5 lbs in September, and another 5 lbs in October. Within 3 months I weighed 180 without doing anything differently from the previous 9 years. It was like the body snatchers or something. OMAD no longer worked, so panicked. I tried eating several small meals, weight still crept on. I tried Kachava meal replacement, the weight still crept on. I tried a version of OMAD, but hate feeling hungry when I get up, so I snacked a little an hour before bed. Weight crept on. I was also starting to get heartburn several times a day, and eating an antacid each time to put the fire out. For the first time in my life, my body was out of control, and everything I tried was only making it worse, and I was running out of ideas. A week ago, I weighed 195. I was devastated. To give you an idea, just before my 30th birthday, I weight 201 the day before I had my son who weighed 9 lbs and was 24" long. I looked into pills, I looked into programs that cost thousands of dollars (that I can't afford), and I about lost hope. I came across an ad on FB about intermittent fasting, and looked into that since that's pretty much what I did for years, while people harped on me "you know, that's not good for you".. I saw that I was right when I was listening to my body. But that was before the decade of dealing with menopause, and having the weight slowly packing on since 2018 when I became post-menopausal. One of the groups I had joined had mentioned you, Dr Mindy. I decided to watch your videos, and just bought your two latest books. While I'm gathering this information over the last 6 days, I decided after a couple of days of watching your information to try an 18:6 daily fast while I get the information about what might work for me, being 61 and post-menopausal. I decided to weigh myself a couple of days ago, fully expecting to have gained yet more weight, and actually found that after being on the 18:6 for 4 days, I had lost 5 lbs. I also notice the heartburn frequency has diminished a lot. I also drink only Dyln Alkaline water. I think I'll try the 5-1-1 and see how that goes. I just want to thank you for reminding me that I wasn't wrong with listening to my body in how I used to eat... and that now it's not my imagination that I still can, but I have to adjust because of being post-menopausal. There is hope.

  • @masonjr3

Mindy introduced me to the idea of switching it up. I'm down 100# from last year. OMAD & prolonged fasting up to 96 hrs & several 48 hrs. I hit a baseline I took a break for a month. PSMF carnivore pushing 100g a day in protein put on 10# of lean mass & filled up some weak muscles. I started Creatine, Taurine + L-Carnitine before my work. I'm back to an ADF to OMAD to cut body fat & switch back to more plant based targeting below 15% BMI @ 53 from 45% last year. I found breaking plateaus demanded longer fasts. Each lower baseline has been a 72 hr fast away. I found 96 hrs didn't yield as much as just doing ADF for a longer time focusing on protein.

I am 56, and 10 years ago got a middle age spread around my waist. I developed a routine where I lift weights once a week, eat like crazy for the next couple days of recovery to pack on the muscle, then do OMAD for the rest of the week to burn of the belly fat. Over a year, I replaced 20+ pounds of fat with muscle, and am keeping my waist between 28 to 30 inches.

I don’t do this now, but in the past I did Keto and lost 60 lbs in 3 months by having 1-2 meals a day. I would eat when I was hungry. I also would have 1-2 bulletproof coffees a day (butter, coconut oil, and heavy whipping cream) and that helped me extend my not eating window. Unfortunately, I did have a few side effects to what I was doing, the first was hair loss and found out a few years later that I have Hashimoto’s, the second was that I would go back and forth from having diarrhea to having constipation if I had too much kale, and the third was I kept getting redness in one of my eyes. I gained most of the weight back and would like to find a healthier way to lose weight I.e. Dr. Mindy’s or a similar way. I’m 235 lbs and 5’9” right now.
