I'm a Transformers supernerd, so this is a dream come true. Personally, I'm waiting for the option to finally create my own Dinobot, the demolition specialist Scrape, who turns into a Carnotaurus. But I'm still incredibly glad this happened. I can finally Wreck 'N Rule!
Beastmodes are apparently still very much allowed from what I can see! If you have GM who is willing to work with you in making the needed alterations for the sake of balance, you should be able to achieve what you're aiming for!
They do also state that future books will add better support for beast modes, so until those books are released I'd very much suggest homebrewing with your GM. You may learn some very useful things for the system as you do!
@TheGrimoiresVoice
Now that SOUNDS COOL, feels like an actual member of the dinobots.
And now I am imagining a Dinobot member of the wreckers that just enjoys blowing scrap up PRIMUS DAMNIT WHY ISN'T THIS ALREADY A THING, hasbro hire this person.
You look for the monstrous orign in new Decepticon directive , along with warriors role focus of sheddar. Along with feat grabber and monster. Your great and welcome! Now make that dinobot!
@@Googleisstupid-sk3hm Say whaaaaat!?
Would for sure like a dive into hard points and weapons to get a complete understanding, but this was overall much needed walkthrough!
Thanks for the video idea!
I second this. I tried making a character and the thing with hardpoints and requisitioning threw me for a loop. Though I did make a Transformer named Treadshot who was a triple-changer with a tank and dragon alt mode and played it that he only becomes a dragon when he's really pissed off.
Thank you for this, this video and the one on hard point sis going to prove so helpful am literally scrambling to learn the rules with my party for a game I’m GM-ing TOMORROW XD
Thanks for answering my previous question!
Excellent video. This game book will be my Christmas gift to myself. I'm looking forward to your future work.
Really glad you enjoyed the video!
Reminder to go back and add that extra language for your 3rd point of smarts. Overall a great intro on character creation. In the process of working my way through it and this was much apprecaited.
Glad we could help! I will make sure to send Steve to Trypticon Prison for failure 😀 😃 😀 😄
This was really helpful after skimming the core rulebook, character creation felt very "murky" to me. Much more clear now. Thanks, NVNG! Did you do a video that talks about how to equip our transformers once we've built them? Choose weapons, armor upgrades, etc?
Finally 😃 I created a character of mine and I really wanted to have this possibility thank you very much!
hi again kkkkk did you put the website link?
My character is called Estella she is a car her model is a Lancer Revolution X she is pink and black but I don't know how to do it...
Hi Steve. Might have been good to link the game system webpage for viewers. Otherwise, good video.
Nah man where's my rescue bots campaign😂
😆 my son just got into Rescue Bots so maybe 🤔
Great video 👍🏼
Did anyone tell you that you sound like Casey Kasem? I was hearing Cliffjumper’s voice throughout 🙂
Thanks Captain!
This game looks sweet.
I want to create my own character but I need help😁
Thanks for the video. I am running a session of this game in a few weeks. Would you answer a couple of question? 1: when would I call for a up/down shift instead of Edge/Snag? 2: Do players always use their Toughness as their defence or their Evasion or does it depends?
Thanks for the questions!
For question 1: Edge/Snag vs Up/Downshifts can be granted by perks/abilities, but you as the GM can also apply them to a roll. Generally a Snag/Edge relates to broad circumstances i.e. trying to perceive or investigate in bad weather, and up down downshifts generally affect competency of the character involved. The example in the book, is Cliffjumper is trying to find his way through the city, and gets a snag due to bad weather, but gets an upshift use to having a GPS (page 102 if your interested).
Question 2: The defenses are a grey area. The defender can choose a defense that they use, i.e. Bumblebee might try to Evade an attack, because he is more nimble, but Ironhide might just try to shrug off a punch to the face. Generally to use evasion, you must be aware of the attack, and able to dodge, i.e. if you're held, or otherwise unable to get out of the way, you default to toughness. Willpower and Cleverness work in a similar way to this, but for more mental or reputation attacks, Willpower being the default, if Cleverness is not possible.
Good luck on your game!
Found that the character sheet didn’t leave much room for all the weapon information
We all see and know/think of them as living why can't then know or be able to use magic or be able to be benders?
My GM actually showed a robot to me back in late November/early December, and my group is very excited to play it. The only downside is: I want to play a Dinobot, and he said he was going strictly by generation one, but the den about our generation one! Are there holes in the book for me to show that I can make a Dinobot? No, my GM may not allow it, but I want to know if there are rules for making one!
So far, there are no special rules for making the G1 Dinobots, but they do show Grimlock in the book where they talk about the different autobots. My suggesstion would be to take the Experiment Influence, since Wheeljack created them, the Monolith Origin, for that beefy form, and the Warrior role, and focus on melee combat. The rest is just the fluff that you put behind it, since all the fors let you determine what you look like, it just mostly gives you your stats in the form.
Dude, I want to play a Dinobot more than ANYTHING
Orign wise no? But use monolith for the size if and prehaps warriors role if you have only Autobot book. The new Decepticon directive book as better origins to create Dino bots. The have the monstrous origin, as well as warriors focus sheddar.
Hello, I wanted to ask, is there a limit on how many specializations a character can take?
What's the consensus on giving players the option of using a holomatter avatar over a hologram? Holomatter avatars can physically interact with things and travel miles away from the Transformers main body. There seems to be energon usage drawbacks and the possibility of damaged or destroyed avatars reflecting some sort of damage back to the user.
The rulebook doesn't make much of a distinction here, and in a lore section of the rulebook, implies that the hologram that each transformer can create for their "driver/pilot" is a Holomatter Avatar, but for the sake of general gameplay, you could make a hologram equipment, and a Holomatter Avatar equipment. I would put the hologram equipment down as Limited, or Restricted avalibility, and the Holomatter Avatar as prototype or higher, due to the extra technology and energy required to create the Avatar. Rules wise, I'd limit these ranges from canon sources, to a more gameplay focused, so if the Avatar takes damage, you might lose a point of energon, or maybe piloting the Avatar costs a point of energon. You can definatly play around with the idea and see how it runs in your game. I can't wait to hear how it goes.
I have a bit of a issue here, you just SKIP the whole weapon deal? Like bam i now have weapons character done..
Thats super confusing to me, so im wondering why.. Im new to the whole gig and i need someone to explaine it to me.. please help
Nice, but I do have a question though. Why oh why does the rulebook have us choosing our origin/chassis last? That has such a huge impact on the game, that players could be concerned if another player has a form that isn't well suited to a mission, like a submarine in the desert or a tank at the shopping mall!
While it can be problematic, that goes into discussing it with your GM to see what kind of form makes sense. How many times was Blaster just flying around, not in his form due to a boombox not really being useful once the fighting begins? If you're interested, there are rules for being a Triple Changer. You could have a form that is situational, but in those situations, you may be more suited to be useful than a generic form.
@@NVNGPodcast Agreed, discussing it with the GM seems to be the best way to handle it. Its just that I also got the core rulebook for the Power Rangers TTRPG, also done by Renegade, and it has the Origin, Influences, and everything in a different order that makes more sense. I was trying to figure out why they changed it.
Maybe you can go over the different roles.
No problem!
I may be doing a stupid. You took investigation as a specialisation. But ahouldnt it have gone i to social skills?
Normally, that is the case, but there was a character option that allowed us to treat the alertness skill as either smarts or social. So that allows us to spend either skill point for that skill.
@@NVNGPodcast ahhhhh I see, I’m just going through character creation so I can help my players when I run a one shot for them. And I just have a question or two could I pick your brain with them please?
Sure ask away or send us an email nvngpodcast@gmail.com
@@NVNGPodcast sent an email .thank you very much
Can i make an arachnicon?
You can, your mode that you choose is not a defined shape, so you probably make it a seeker, so they can fly, but it just looks like an insecticon. But there are no hard rules for that, or dinobots yet. Maybe in some book later they will give more specific rules for insecticons, and dinobots.
Can you create a triple changers that has a motorcycle and animal modes?
Yes, and no. So there is a way to do a Triplechanger. You select the ModeMaster role, and then you select the TripleChanger focus. The animal mode is where the rules stop, for now. They made reference to adding in beast forms in other books, so theres hope that they will eventually add in a new book with these rules. But you can always homebrew something together to make that possible prior to the rules coming out. One would hope that they would release something soon with Rise of Beasts coming out.
@@NVNGPodcast was thinking like the dinobots
@@saberhawks4074 Sadly they only stat out what vehicles you can turn into. I'm still hopeful that a book will be released that will include things like the Dinobots, Insecticons, and the beast wars characters though.
Where do I download the game? Link please.
You can go to the Renegade Game Studio website, and there is a free download for the Transformers Character sheet Fillable pdf. Also you can get buy the pdf of the book, or get the physical book as well.
