Do you think "Reading Rainbow" should be rebooted?
Yes absolutely
Yes
Definitely
Omg YES
YES.
Bring this back!!!😢 As a person who lived through no kid left behind era and struggled through school...this did nothing but allow slackers to go through the cracks with bare minimum only hurting education. These talented people provided a great service and I appreciate it.
I agree, "Reading Rainbow" encouraged kids to read and didn't talk down to them!
It was a pleasure that this show ran until 2006.
Reading Rainbow was my favorite show as a kid and I loved reading still do. This brings me back 40 years I can still hear the opening song in my head 😊
Thought I was the only one. Loved it!
Same here!
It should be rebooted. I would listen to it for sure. It is great to discover new books that is unknown. Or be a great idea for a gift for a child
I❤reading 🌈 rainbow ..🎶.I can go anywhere, take a look it's in a book, a reading rainbow 🌈 🔥🔥🔥🔥
100% lifetime fan of Reading Rainbow
I still miss watching Reading Rainbow, The Puzzle Place, Shining Time Station, Where In The World Is Carmen Sandiego? and Where In Time Is Carmen Sandiego? The Kidsongs TV Show, Zoboomafoo, Sagwa The Chinese Siamese Cat, Wimzie's House, Maya and Miguel, It's A Big Big World, Sid The Science Kid, Plaza Sesamo, George Shrinks, Elliot Moose, Boohbah, Wishbone, etc. 🎥🎥🎥🎬🎬🎬📺☹️☹️☹️☹️
I LOVE this show. I grew up watching it as a kid, and that theme song, I could listen to it over and over again. These types of shows, including Mr. Roger's Neighborhood just don't seem to be getting made anymore, which I feel is a shame.
Reading Rainbow was amazing
I heard some of my favorite books on Reading Rainbow! Goodnight Moon, Honey I Love! That was the show!!!
That was a great idea back then
Was a great show better then what they got out now for kids😮
I was born in 99. I was only 7 when it this show was cancelled but vividly remember watching it as a child. No doubt my love for reading spawned from the rainbow. They need this back
Reading is very important a person must be able to comprehend what they have read, and book must have a significant amount of information, knowledge and understanding, to make it possible to want a person to want to read a book also it should be relevant to the reader. Reading Rainbow, was a great show for children. Just because they are not in school during the summer they should still have a certain amount of hours to read a book, a magazine article or something to keep their reading minds stay in tuned. All children should have scheduled assignments given by their parents during the summer to maintain their reading habits. That’s why the recreation centers are so missed. We need them back.
This was my favorite childhood TV show I watched all the time ⏲️
I watched Reading rainbow as a kid and it needs to be revisited.
I always wondered how Levar did that! I remember that episode on Enterprise!
Reading rainbow was a wonderful program to watch when I was a kid.
Reading Rainbow and Mister Rogers Neighborhood are my favorites from PBS
This was such a great video! I really remember the theme song but couldn’t recall what the show was exactly about. A lot of fascinating facts were shared here!
I remember watching the episode with Jane's Earl Jones reading "Bringing The Rain to Kapiti Plain," and the following week, going to my school book fair and seeing it there. Needless to say that that was the book o chose to take home with me that day.
Levar Burton ♥️🔥🔥
Levar was the perfect host for the show...he has such a warm calm personality and he seemed like a dad to the viewers.😊😊
I was 23 when RR premiered and had no children. Hearing that Lavar was hosting I was curious. I was hooked from day 1 and watched it with my children later on.
I really enjoyed this series and I wish we could bring it back but unfortunately, we cannot. If we could I know we would have a fantastic run of programs to follow and show how awesome this all would be. ❣️😁
I loved the reading rainbow 🌈 as a kid, it was great
I miss that show I grew up with it as a kid and it'd be nice if PBS would bring that show back or something similar to it because I believe that it would be able to help kids like my son improve their reading skills
My favorite
I feel sorry for all the kids who have been deprived of the wonderfulness that was "Reading Rainbow" for the past 18 years!
No kid left behind act was totally useless. But, this show was so awesome and needs to come back.
Reading Rainbow was a wonderful show. I was a little to old but watched it with younger siblings cousins and kids I babysat. I am a natural bibliophile but my son isn't. He's ADHD and on the Spectrum. I read to him all the time and we watched Reading Rainbow
I remember Reading Rainbow although I never watched every episode I remembered when I was a kid when I did watch it it was a great thing to have and it was very educational at the same time especially when it was to promote and encourage children to read more.
I remember back when I was a kid watching that show every now and then on PBS how I looked forward to some of the books that they were showing and reading and what was shown in the segment it really got the child's attention and education and open-mindedness to what the whole point of the series was about in general educationally.
Yes!!!!! Reboot this show! I loved it as a kid, (and I'm now I'm a lifelong bookworm ), AND it got me into STNG based on Geordie alone.
There are quite a few episodes of this show that I don't remember, particularly from its first five seasons. Some of my favorites were "Little Nino's Pizzeria" from Season 7 (1989), and several episodes from Season 11 (1993). As I wasn't born until 1997, most of the series I saw only in reruns and as such, did not know about the original version of the title sequence used from its beginning in 1983 through '99 until many years later. Only the final 25 episodes originally aired during my lifetime, though some of the last ten released between 2004 and '06 I can't seem to remember. "Visiting Day" (Season 20 Episode 1) is an exception to this for several other reasons, including being the only episode of the series to have the "Y7" syndication rating. For unknown reasons, the PBS affiliates where I live (WNET and CPTV) only continued airing the show in reruns until 2008, instead of '09 like some other markets did.
The No Child Left Behind Act was a joke. Screw the idiots behind that act who got Reading Rainbow cancelled. LeVar poured his heart into reading and literacy. It’s because of that man that I had a joy for reading and learning. When the show got cancelled, that No Child Left Behind act killed my interest in reading and I struggled in school for a bit. But now as an adult, I relearned why reading was so wonderful and important, thanks to the Reading Rainbow official YT channel putting out full episodes for its 40th anniversary. They were absolutely useful because they were the motivation I needed to reteach me that reading is the most important thing to the world. LeVar deserves much respect for pouring his heart into literacy and did everything possible for the sake of everyone’s futures. Thanks LeVar Burton and the crew that worked with him to ensure Reading Rainbow’s legacy impacted the world in a very positive way.
Troy Barnes: (crying) Reading Rainbow 😂
Maybe "Rainbow" could be rebooted as a app or podcast.
I was that kid that didn't mind reading in front of the class when the teacher called on me.
Where can you watch this?I can still sing the theme song to this day.bReading Rainbow should be rebooted. Loved this show when I was a kid, also loved Wishbone!
I loved wishbone
If the theme song doesn't instantly start playing when I reach them pearly gates, I don't want no part of that chief.
Even the app itself is not the same as the TV Show. The show was canceled for a ridiculous reason in which they say that the show was not being educational. If they really did need money then they would have started a crowdfunding campaign. Hope the show returns soon
I read every book I saw.
My childhood here. They screwed us when they pulled the show. #BringBackReadingRainbow
I'll Never Forgive The Goddang Bush Administration For cancelling Reading Rainbow that show got me Into reading during my formative years and the 2000's fucking sucked

Although I loved this show as a child, as an adult I discovered that Lavar Burton is compromised and I wont be letting my children watch this.
Huh?
@@nicolejohnson4989 He's racist against white people and he physically threatened mothers who don't want their children exposed to explicit material in schools.
@amorou 4:50 sg.1673 What do you mean, and do you have evidence?
@@lisadaniel5200 He recently had an episode of a show where a historian traces genealogy and he expressed deep disgust about the fact that he was part white.
At an event for the National Book Awards, he physically threatened mothers who want to curate books on schools.
Look it up for yourself.
