  • Shooting the Milky Way in a Crystal Ball!
    Had an escape to dark skies and wanted to find another way to capture images of our galaxy within a Lens Ball given to me by my co-worker. If you want to know how to take your own pictures this way, check out the video! I had a (mostly) great time shooting it!
    Some of the items mentioned in this video:
    Crystal Lens Ball - amzn.to/3ojIiKH
    Alternative "cheaper" Lens Ball 3-Pack - amzn.to/2ZN4HWJ
    Sigma Lens I used for Final Images - amzn.to/3EXLnpL
    Thanks for watching my videos! Be sure to Like the video if you enjoyed it or found it helpful, motivation, inspirational, relatable...etc.... And if you really want to say thanks, consider buying me a coffee! Mmm, coffee. ❤️

    As a stand why not use the glass stand it came with and put the black cleaning cloth over it.

    Great video and information on how to do this. I do have a question: If you are at a decent dark site, and there's very little light, my question is... would you even see the out line of the crystal ball? Meaning, is there enough available light to outline the ball?

    • @thatsginter
      @thatsginter  Před 2 lety +1

      Hi hangerbird! That's a great question! Objects either absorb, reflect, and/or allow light to pass through it. Since the ball is more of a transparent object, light is simply passing through it and not actually illuminating it. What defines the shape of the ball are the objects that are lit (or not lit) around it. Thus, if the immediate surrounding is dark, the top edge and some of the side edge would be dark in color, showing a dark ground wrapping around (since the image is inverse), and the bottom would have a glowing edge from the light of the sky/stars. At least, that's what sounds right to me lol.

    Where's the best place to buy the Lens Balls? And many thanks for your tutorial!

    • @thatsginter
      @thatsginter  Před 3 lety +1

      Hey Jerry, Thx! Honestly, the one in this video is the official LensBall which I received as a gift, but you can find this one and even a bunch of of non-branded ones on Amazon for a little less. Some even come with stands!
      Although I can't speak for the clarity of the other crystal balls though. GL!

      Hi Tommy! There are a few apps, but the one I use here (and the best I've found) is called PhotoPills, and yes - it is on Android now! play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.photopills.android.photopills
