Thank you! I misses hat when I “thoroughly” read the instruction book. ;) Thanks again, Mark
Glad it was helpful!
I used a yard stick last (first) time. I really like your suggestion of the paint stir stick much better. Thank you. Also, I am using a gallon bucket from Olive Garden to catch the pellets. It's large enough and a bit less cumbersome. Really nice bucket;.mine does not have a inner container, but it is fitted with a screw-on lid.
I use a small shop vac and vacuum out the auger intake and then vacuum out the auger tube after taking off the fire pot. Works great and takes a lot less time.
Thanks Mike, I was thinking the shop vac wouldn't be able to pull out the pellets stuck at the center of the auger tube without removing the entire auger itself. But I will may give it a try next time to see how it works!
Very helpful video. Thank you 🙏
You’re welcome Kenny, thanks for watching!
Thanks for a great video!

Great Video!!! Thank You!!!
Thank you Virginia!
If you don’t have small children, remove that protective screen from your auger box and store it away if you ever want to sell the grill or have to return it for warranty. It’s so much easier to deal with.
Was thinking the same thing but haven't gotten around to it yet. The paint stick works pretty good for now!
I removed mine. First time I filled it, pellets went everywhere because of the screen.
I want to do that! But how?
@@user-xt3lj5iz4t unless yours is very different should just be 6 screws to remove.
@@Jaykav99 Easy to do as long as some idiot didn't cross-tread a screw or two at the factory.
Thank you, exactly what I needed.
Glad it helped, thanks!
This video saved me because I was getting frustrated, thanks!

Likewise..
Sportsmans series 7 that was a mistake thought maybe that was the ash pan , no instructions say they can't send you any in paper forn , wi fi ? Thank pit boss
If you burn all the pellets and get the error, don't you have to prime it the next time you turn it on?
Correct. If you burn out all the pellets from the auger for longer term storage or non-use, you will have to prime the auger the next time you reload. Check out our video on How to start a New Pit Boss for details on this if needed. Thanks for watching!
How do you keep it from throwing a heat error when grilling?
I haven't run into that error code myself but found this thread about it on a Pit Boss forum. www.pitbossforum.com/threads/error-code-her.507/
Looks like it my be a bad internal temperature probe thinking the grill is getting too hot. I would call Pit Boss and see if they will send you a replacement. Hope that helps.
Also a fairly inexpensive replacement probe here on amazon if you don't want the hassle of going through Pit Boss. Make sure its the right size for your particular model.

Did you use a dry paper towel to clean out the ash pot?
Yes I usually do after dumping the ash just to get any pellet pieces still stuck to the inside. It's usually pretty clean already from the burnoff though.
@@madbackyard Thanks. Just used for the first time and couldn't figure it out.
What controller do you have on that?
It's just the one that came with it... it's the Pit Boss Pro Series 1150 model from Lowes in 2022. Thanks for watching!
How do you keep your heat deflector so clean?
Ha, this was back when this smoker was still very new. But check out our deep clean video where I show how you can get it looking a lot better again! DEEP CLEAN a PIT BOSS in 4 EASY STEPS! Plus RUST Removal!

Do you even use that smoker ?? Looks like it’s brand new and have never had food cooked in it 😂
Great video though!
Haha, yes this particular one was brand new at the time I made the video. Doesn't look that new anymore!
Moisture ? What is that !! I live in a
Arizona !!
Haha, less of an issue for you guys out there I guess!
Dang, are you suppose to do this after you use the grill every time? A lot of time.
No, only if you aren’t going to be using it for a couple weeks or longer so that the pellets don’t absorb too much moisture. Also depends how humid an area you live in.
