20 Years Without Brushing Teeth 😦 Calculus Removal

  • The most extensive calculus removal we have ever performed at our office. Most of us brush our teeth every day (or at least claim to) but this man has a rare case of dental phobia where not only is he afraid to visit the dentist, but also he is afraid to brush his own teeth.
    If you don't brush your teeth for an extended period of time, calculus or tartar begins to accumulate around the teeth leading to cavities, gingivitis, and even gum disease. This is by far the most calculus we have ever seen at our office. The build up was so thick that it was actually masking the underlying decay. Tartar is a cement like material that builds up around the teeth at an increased rate if you do not brush or clean your teeth frequently. This material can also make it difficult to clean and remove the calculus between the teeth and make your breath smell quite a bit as well.
    We are so happy that we could help this man end years of pain and discomfort by giving him a deep cleaning with scaling and root planing. He now leads a much better and healthier lifestyle with his newly cleaned teeth. Talk about a fresh start!

    Saw my dentist and he advised dentures😫😫😫 I had six cavities and needed a crown. I don’t even know what his bill was going to be because I stopped listening after he said it would be $2000.00 for the FIRST appointment to begin filling the cavities and he does not take dental insurance or Medicare. Worked my entire life and would go broke with this dentist - going for 2nd opinion.

    So, how did cavemen take care of their teeth? Ik in India, people used a special kinda wooden stick (called datoon) but i assume that's not very old. Or did their short lifespan just made it not a problem?

    • @iboofer
      @iboofer Před 3 měsíci

      As long as you made it past early childhood, you had a decent chance of living to your 60s if not longer, even in prehistory believe it or not. Google Shanidar I. Taking care of each other is a powerful evolutionary strategy. I'm pretty sure the stick is one of the oldest methods of tooth cleaning, though.

    • @Slyfoxx

      Other than directly cleaning their teeth, cavemen also had vastly different diets than us. They actually used their teeth where as we no longer really have the need to.
      We eat much softer and unhealthier foods now, so a combination of different diets and the fact that everything we eat now is packed with sugar and other shit that's bad for our teeth is what's changed

      Autoimmune disorders, such as Sjogren’s, cause extreme dry mouth and dry eyes. Lack of saliva is very damaging to your teeth. Good oral hygiene is a must but it’s always a battle. I have eye plugs to help keep my eyes moist but they don’t last long. Was told to cut out sweets and sodas and to drink water with fluoride and use tooth paste with fluoride.

      Hi I get plaque daily and it’s just due to smoking/vaping, changes in temperatures, and high ph levels in my mouth. I’ve found if I Drink more water and swish the water in my teeth throughout the day, eat acid foods with a base afterwards to keep what’s in my epiglottis more base than acid like milk of magnesium or something. Your teeth are sensitive and want to protect themselves plaque is a natural reaction to outside excess in exposure to stimulus such as high changes in temperature and humidity! Keep your mouth clean and brush when you can well and thought! Good luck in not a doctor this is an opinion based on experience, with no scientific knowledge!
