For once, Rowan is the level-headed one. It's a funny change of pace to see everyone else going berserk over trivial/imagined issues while he's watching in dismay.
Not dismay at all. More like patient dismissal.
@@AmazingAutist Patient dismissal is a great set of words, I'll remember those.
I don't know that I like Rowan as the good guy ... too much of a system shock
Yes so agree he has great depth as an actor would love to see him be a more level headed one in more episodes
Yeah, totally with Rowan on this one, too. It feels... dirty.
"Getting the food you actually want is fun."
Rowan being the smart one.
Nope. Meals used to a communal activity.
for once.
Family style meals are fun too. At the cost of not always getting exactly the food you want, you get nice bonding time with your mates, or family, or whomever.
@@Raison_d-etre A lot of things used to be.
Plate-sharing for 2 people is fine, after that the complexity of decision-making rises exponentially unless dictatorial powers are given to a group member
I'm not convinced, we handle it pretty easy in Greek Taverns and such.
That's every chinese restaurant ever. They all share plate. I don't see the problem
In this case, the white shirt.
Beyond 2 unliked dishes are permittable. So if 3/4 like fish, just get a fish dish. Sharing plates doesn't mean everything has to be eaten by everyone.
If someone doesn't want to share, they don't, people who do want to share can. Rowan was right for himself and the others were just making a simple process much more complicated than it needs to be, but the overcomplication is the only comedic part, without it, the skit boils down to the waiter explaining how the restaurant's "culture" views the dining experience and one or all of the customers just refusing the premise and ordering what they want for themselves.
Was expecting Rowan to finally explode, but his counselling side-job must be cooling his usual fiery temperament
Nah 😂 it’s just his time away from play tech
I actually really like Rowan's character when he's the one thinking logically. It's really ironic lol. Great content as usual though!
Yup. Not A Dick Rowan is so reasonable and relatable.
That’s because it’s Rowan but not Rowan, there are many Rowan’s in this world haha.
It's refreshing
@@michaeleggers5539 Exactly. Rowan the actor plays many separate Rowan characters. It is confusing as all get out.
I know right? I mean, they spent SO MUCH time programming us that he is an asshole, so now, when the tables have turned, my brain just can't accept that and is always expecting a catch... but there isn't one 🤣 It's sooo goood!
The other big problem is when everyone realises that the dish you really want is delicious and eats it all and you're stuck with their bad choices.
Everybody wants what I'm having, especially if I'm looking forward to eating it, happens FAR TOO OFTEN for my liking.
This is the real problem with shared plates. People pick stuff try. You pick stuff you know is good. Your choice gets eaten first leaving you to finish getting full on their bad choices.
It happens so much my friends order healthy food out of pride and then just eat my tastier food.
Jeez. You usually the other way around for me. As I have such an obscure taste that when ever I order what I want I can feel this aura coming off of everyone else like. Why the fuck did we waste money on this crap?
Every single time. I always suggest the group order a 2nd set of "my dish". Because I always refuse to share.
For the first time and i never thought i'd say that:
"I feel you Rowan." I've suffered this pain so many times.
Especially when someone says somthing ridiculous like nothing with onions when every dish there would be made with onions.
If my plate is designed for sharing, then I'll be sharing it with myself the next day after I bring home what I don't eat in the restaurant.
Hear hear!
For the dog?
@@Leto85 No.
I was expecting them to come up with the perfect combination only for the waiter to come in and tell them the key dish is currently unavailable.
@killer wasp I Don't usually click link but I clicked it. I Don't regret it, It was a beautiful experience.
oh, next-level spam. People now employ a second account to make their spam seem legitimate, clever.
I was expecting them to finally settle on an order, and then one person to say "oh, actually, I'm allergic for penuts," and then they have to start all over again.
@@matthewparker9276 that's what I thought, too. I thought the person would be Rowan.
water.
The perfect ending would be for Rowan to come back with some McDonalds after disappearing in the middle of the skit.
then everyone else want to share his mcd!
Hahaha yeah! 🍔
Yeah, I was thinking he'd have a pizza delivered.
we are gonna need a McDs sponsorship for that one :)
McDonald's? Yuck!!!
Ooh, Ellie tried to pull a fast one by saying no onion at the end, while it clearly states in article 36, subsection B that the onions will come on their own plate for utilization according to individual preferences.
What do you mean? Having the onions in their own plate means that Ellie (who doesn't like onion) can eat the food, while the rest (who like onion) can just add it in.
@@Temperans Well, clearly by saying no onions when speaking of the three pies, no onions will be served at all. In accordance to article 35, section B, this violates the agreement of onions being served, though separately on a different plate.
If VLDL had its own studio, Rowan would've been able to eat whatever he wanted at his own restaurant set.
That's prob a stretch target
Congrats on the successfull kickstarter and reaching literally every single stretch goal you guys set.
If you consider baelin's route and patreon and this kick starter. They really get the support from the community.
Oh wow, well I mean no wonder they can suddenly afford to eat out at trendy hipster plate-sharing establishments! 😂
@@Dreamoen well they nailed it with baelins route so they have a lot of supportive fans who know this is a low risk kickstarter. No chance they cut and run, they’re already making videos 😁
@@Ben-rz9cf They didn't expect such overwhelming support, they can definitely get more money thru making vids, getting sponsors, ads etc with all these new sets they are gonna have and attracting more subs/views/likes
They actually didn't expect to hit this amount
I think at most, they expected like 1M or 1.5M AT MOST, according to what Rowan said
And they had to make up some of the stuff on the spot I think like Dragon and the last goal
I like the fact that they holding the scripts as a menu lol makes it easier to save the script
Shhhhhh 😉
I don't realize it if you not say it

Omg, I would never notice that 😂
Reasonable Rowan is becoming less and less of a rare sight, I absolutely love it 😄💜The range!
Rowan: is thinking logically
Me: *There is a disturbance in the force*
I'm with Rowan on this one.
I absolutely hate plate sharing restaurants.
Every time my family orders shared dinners I always get my own shit, and often have to fight people off who want my food.
@@sebastianlodge7549 The fork is a defensive weapon as well as an eating utensile.

Me too
In this situation I am Rowan.
I agree. My food
#metoo
"Rowan doesn't share food!!!"
Almost thought they were about to go a different route when I seen Ben as waiter, figured a normal size plate being shared by all. Including Ben 😅
You know the situation is messed up when Rowan is the voice of reason.
I was half expecting them to take so long that when the waiter came back and they wanted to order he'd tell them it was closing time.
😂

Viva La Dirt League : the group that never dissapoints.
I just love how Ellie Alan and Adam freak out at the end when Rowan orders of chicken stir fry
The amount of quality and quantity lately really shows how greatful you guys are for all the support, the channel is on fire 🔥
Poor Rowan, the man just wants to eat his food

then why are you behaving like a bot?
@we unite Darn, bot are evolving now huh?
@Energy
And another bot...

And another one.
I agree SO MUCH with Rowan's character there. It's so much easier to just order whatever you'd like to eat and just make people try a bite if they're interested. I hate plate sharing restaurants
Ugh, try eating with my husband - he refuses to share. No bites from anybody's food.
Wait, plate sharing restaurants actually exist???! What the heck is wrong with people 😳
@@melissaclaassen9707 is your husband Joey?
That’s what Chinese restaurants are like
@@kallenchan2339 I've never once been to a chinese restaurant that had 'plate sharing', or any restaurant for that matter. Never heard of this before this video
I love how they go rom simply ordering food. to doing it like planning a critical strategy for war, to like nations signing a treaty.
I love how they're constantly ordering multiple of the same thing "3 orders of fried chicken"
I thought shared food was going to be shared plates where Rowan would eat the majority of the food and walk off saying "managers privileges.....peasaaaants"
VLDL tactically deploying an order is something I didn't know I needed to see
"You were PART OF THIS!" the betrayal
As Chinese who often have shared orders, we just order several dishes. You may not like all of them but you will at least like several of the dishes, and the same apply to the person next to you etc. Benefit is you have a larger selection, without being too full on just one dish. You don't need every dish to be one you like. Just to eat that one and let someone else who do eat it.
I can't believe they made Rowan look level-headed on this one. Sharing dishes is so easy. And screw picky eaters anyway. Can't trust em.
@@caoimhinocsigenI mean, sharing is nice for maybe cost but otherwise it makes more sense to get multiple orders for different preferences
@@ErikVRed It's got nothing to do with cost. It's about options. You get to try lots of different things. You can obviously still pick and choose or do you think everyone needs to agree about everything?
@@caoimhinocsigen you realize you can still try out food with individual orders? And usually unless walking into a hotpot or buffet people like to eat more of a food they prefer. It really isn’t that deep
I was expecting them to agree on an order, but waiter says "sorry, we're out of that one thing"
you are evil :P
Could have been a nice intersection inbetween the tactical planning and the diplomatic proclamations
Love that Rowan's the one being logical here and at the end just decides 'screw it, I'm ordering'. Maybe he should just offer as an appetiser to the rest of them some paycuts (except to Ellie, as that never ends well).
When I went to Ireland, I was the only person of the group who ordered fish & chips at a restaurant. A few days later, they decide to all order fish & chips. I was the only one ordering something else.
So happy for the team, congrats on the successful kickstarter!
Adam talking like he's about to conquer Shmargenrog is classic lol 1:35
Gratz of the 2.5M! Looking forward to great things for this Studio and DnD!
here before this might blow up
@@Ithat1guyl - That's a pretty insensitive thing to say beneath a fake bot comment promoting Islamic verses! 😂
everyone orders something they like and you share some of it with the table, everyone wins.
I love how Rowan is in a single shot while all the others are grouped together in a third-person shot!
I absolutely hate sharing food. I want to eat my food, the one that I like and choose, in peace. I don't want to be there asking myself all the time if it's fine if I eat that last/odd piece of something I like, or if someone else that is not eating from a while is full so I can eat something that's getting cold for no reason, or force myself to eat something I don't like because I'm still hungry but I already got my share of the food I like, and so on. Gianfranco doesn't share food!
I work at an Asian restaurant that is share plate style and I’m loving every second of this!!!🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
You know peoples pain then 😂😂
So do I, and some conversations I've heard are not dissimilar to this skit 😂
I went on a trip to a friend's place recently and every single time we were in a restaurant we just settled on a bunch of things we might both like, ordered them, and then kept trading morsels of food between plates. No complaints. Is that MAGIC??
Imagine this...
You get to a restaurant that has the following choices (for dinner):
1.) Bacon wrapped shrimp with avocado, artichoke hearts, mushrooms, tofu cubes, risotto, hummus, kalamata and green olives, roasted chestnuts, and a sunflower seed/avocado/artichoke heart/kalamata olive/cherry tomato/red onion/romaine/chopped celery/cilantro/basil leaf salad.
2.) Ribeye steak, roasted Yukon gold potatoes, white onion, carrot and rutabaga, sauteed sweet yellow onions, with buttered sweet corn, homemade bread with butter and honey, and apple slices.
3.) Rack of lamb, sauteed asparagus, mushroom, shallot, red onion, green onion, carrot, fennel, rosemary, thyme and basil, and a cherry tomato/avocado/artichoke heart/kalamata olive/pumpkin seed/sunflower seed/arugula/cilantro/watercress/romaine/endive/cucumber salad.
4.) Oven roasted pork ribs with black, anasazi, adzuki, and christmas lima beans, corn on the cob with butter, homemade bread with butter and honey, cinnamon applesauce, and dinner roll.
5.) Extra cheesy lasagna, mozzarella sticks, cheese fries, nachos with extra nacho cheese, and a sharp cheese sampler from France (with summer sausage/salami, etc. and crackers). Honeydew and canteloupe melon fruit cup also.
The people you are with get #5 for everyone. You try to order something different, but everyone at the table looks at you as though you just murdered their dog...
And you say, "But I just don't like cheese..." 🤷♂️🤷♂️🤷♂️🤷♂️🤷♂️
😂🤣😂🤣😂😂😂🤣😫😫😫😫
It's so fun to see Rowan the manager don't care about his employees arguing what they should eat while he orders his only food in a boss-y way
Rowan's not the manager in this series.
Rowan is the actor's name as well as named of the character from Bored. I think in this sketch he is playing a version of himself, rather than the same Playtech manager character.
@@zer0bre i think you didn't get the joke, i know he's not the manager in that series
It works with big groups as long as you don't have any picky eaters.
@@brenttprisleybalatero3562 - It's not really a joke if you make it sound as if you genuinely believe it is the same character 😀
They put more effort into ordering then I put into school projects
congratulations, you got the joke

I love how quickly things escalated
Right after I saw this clip, my colleague called for a lunch meeting and he's making a spreadsheet who likes who and no one overlaps each other.
Rowan be thinking: "I fucking knew it, it went exactly as I planned it"
Proud of you all! You guys deserve all the support and growth you can handle! much love from Canada
I have never seen this concept before, I hope to keep it that way in the future
would love to see part 2 where the waiter brings back 1 check and they need to figure out how to split it
Meanwhile Asians: "not a fan of that but yeah sure" "hey I like this do you wanna share it together?" "yeah!"
We always have dishes that are pretty much accepted by anyone I don't know how that works but hey as an Asian I'm proud to say that at least I've never had this problem.
interestingly, my family's habit at asian restaurants was to each order what they wanted, and then share as they wanted.
@@kenbrown2808 Hmm, my family just does it in all restaurants so that we can all taste the different food.
@@Temperans we will give samples if someone wants to try something new, but it's mostly asian restaurants, where the food is actually shared family style. my wife and I tend not to do it, because she likes seafood and I don't.
@@kenbrown2808 ...Can you just sign here and here to ratify the agreement? 😂
My general rule of thumb is if someone offers me food or makes me food, I'll eat whatever I'm given whether I typically like it or not.
If I'm out ordering food though, I'm damn well gonna order something I want lol.
Really funny how they just leave Rowan totally out of the discussion probably because they’ve seen enough of Rowan at work to care for his input 😂🤣🤣
This series isn't really related. Rowan isn't the manager ... He is the reasonable one in this series 😉

these restaurant skits are so good we need more and more. its surprisingly such a rare thing to see and you guys nail it so well and creatively while still parodying alot of realism. its one of my favorite shows from you guys.

I was expecting Rowan to tell he's vegan when everyone else came to an agreement x) But it's still Rowan ^^
Rowan magically becomes reasonable whenever they enter a restaurant (unless hes working at the restaurant)
The bagpipes were a nice touch. Made me lol
I thought it was gonna be about split payment, but this one is more hilarious.
Split payments are even worse.
That, fellow programmers, is what propositional logic is taught for at university.
Alan: Adam went out and bought some coloured pens!

I was thinking there would be 3 or 5 parts of something and the challenge would be to share that.... but you were even funnier than I imagined.... 😂🤣
Was waiting for Roman to order his food and happily be eating it while the others got to an even more extreme stage of meal picking 😂
Ellie's "Yeah, no, YUCK!" 🤣🤣🤣
"I guess just getting the food that you actually want is fun?" Absolutely.
Sharing is caring
I'm calling it now. They did this to mess with Rowan after his shenanigans as the boss. They're doing this to show him how annoying it is for them 😂
In the end he still showed them who is boss though 😂🤣
Rowan’s is everyone’s spirit animal in this skit.
This is like a family trying to pick pizza toppings without anyone having to "pick off" and somebody crying or fuming. 😂
Once I went to one of these, they told us it had this new fun concept that involved sharing our food. But then the plates came with normal, one person, quantities and since we shared, we left hungry and went straight to McDonalds.

I've never heard of sharing food in restaurants must live under a rock 😂
Not being aware of a very nice concept does not mean you live under a rock
from what ive seen most are ethnic restaurants. Sharing meals is a bit more common among non western people.
It's pretty much the default in traditional Chinese restaurants.

congrats VLDL on all the stretch goals complete for The Great Expansion! Can't wait for the quality to go even higher :D
When I'm with my partner, shared plates are excellent, because we have similar tastes, and it means we get to try twice as many flavours. But unless it's tapas or dim sum, it's too hard to do with bigger groups.
math doesn't check out on that. you could both order your own things and "share" that way. being forced to share doesn't change how much you are going to eat or what you are willing to eat/try.
@@rocksfire4390 We do also do that. But dishes that are designed to share have small bites already planned into the dish. Makes it easier.
Dim sum...yum, yum.
@@rocksfire4390 I do the same thing with my partner. There's a restaurant where we always order 1 plate or Oysters rockefeller, the red tuna tartar and beef carpacio so we can eat a bit of everything since we both love all 3.
