I highly recommend the Audiobook version. Since Bo reads it himself he hits all the inflection and pauses the way he intended. I loved it.
Ahhh, the classy part of the show.
Ah, the peak of class
đ
"You're incomparable. Like a ............"
Never ceases to tickle my brain into laughter
It's a good one. đ€Ł
Bo nailed post-nut clarity before we collectively named it
that was more like post-nut shame
@@henrikbartnes8424 That's the whole concept of post-nut clarity, lol
@@nairsheasterling9457 no post nut clarity is temporary higher intelligence, like jerk off when stranded on an island gives you a higher chance to survive or before swiping on tinder to make better judgement. shame is different. post nut clarity is compared to no nut clarity as the inferior option. literally google it
@@henrikbartnes8424 Right, the "I should be in prison, this feels gross, intrusive, and gross" trifecta.
The last poem he reads shows off his actual skill for writing poetry, but he still undercuts it to make it a joke. If I had to guess, the book wasn't his idea.
A lot of poems in the book are actually pretty dark and emotional. Iâm guessing he didnât read those during the special because it wouldnât be funny lol. But thereâs a few that genuinely made me cry. Lin Manuel Mirana also is a big fan of it and said he reads the (tame ones) to his kid.
@@crycrywolf âPerfectâ is still my favorite poem in the entire book. :) but yeah a lot of them are super depressing and a few made me tear up
Funny story, we went to see the make happy tour and my daughter gave a stage hand a copy of egghead with HER autograph in it and a note that said everyone seems to ask so much of you, figured I'd give you something instead.
Not sure if he ever got the book, but I was proud of her for the gesture
I got both the paper book and the audiobook (which he reads) when he released them. The real power move is to listen to him read to you, but follow along in the paper book so you can look at the illustrations (which are awesome in their own right). lol I'm not afraid to say I've done exactly that.
Didn't know there was an audio version! Thats awesome
thanks for this recommendation! I have bought the book but haven't read it yet. This sounds like the best way to gođ
OMG I didnât know he released an audio book, and heâs the one reading them??? Iâm buying it right now
Fancy seeing you here, fellow snackposter ;)

I really do enjoy your videos. I laughed out loud at the âI will spare you guys the over analyzing of the beating off bit.â Lol
00:23 the first few notes of this reminds me of the very first few notes of Look Who's Inside Again.
Egghead is a pretty good book. Itâs got funny poems and serious poems. They really are quite reminiscent of Shel Silverstein in their interesting simplicity. One of my favorites is Homonyms.
Homonyms arenât fare.
Itâs awful. Itâs tragic.
I say Iâm pulling out my hare
And they think Iâm talking magic.
I like this one because itâs generally pretty clever but also because I think it comes back to some of the themes in âCanât Handle Thisâ. But maybe Iâm over-analyzing.
This one is my favorite as well. So simple but so heavy
Can you explain the meaning of this poem? I didn't really understand it, probably because english isn't my main language
Love your channel man. I find most "reaction" channels insufferable but you're great man. Even the little stuff like adding a time stamp for when the video acually begins is much appreciated (although your intros are short, sweet and too the point). Keep it up bro, even after the Bo specials run out I'll still be watching.
I didn't think you'd actually leave this in. Great job, man! Yes, I bought Egghead on Kindle yesterday for $5 actually and am really enjoying it. He is wickedly clever! It's a quick read.
From what I could tell when I watched it, he had the first one or two lines of each poem written in his notebook, probably to make sure he got the right order.
I actually doubt very seriously Bo needs a book to perform, it's a prop used to create theatrics, people of Bo's caliber don't need books, trust me on that. always remember the first rule, what do people do when their on stage??? They act, remember, its just a show up their, it's a performance, entertainment, theatrics, comedy, musical, educational. can ya dig it??? js
â@@SuperMatt2112 He might still want it just in case or to sorta hold onto something. And if he already has the notebook as a prop, might as well use it. I don't think he needs it either, but having that little thing there can still be assuring, even if you never use it or even really look at it.
Obviously it also might just be there as a gimmick for those of us who pause the special and check, we'll never know.
The last one has always been very inspirational and uplifting :D
You can actually hear him trying to hold off a panic attack near the poem bit.
The book of poems is great, it's like Shel Silverstein for adults! I do strongly recommend getting the audiobook though, Bo reads it and it adds a lot to the experience (and there are a couple off the cuff moments while he's reading of course)
âDadâ never fails to crack me up
"Thank you thats called dad..." gets me everytime
Egghead is a wonderful book of poetry and a worthwhile read if you're a Bo Burnham fan. It gives a fun look into his early comedic outlook but in written form. I'd recommend it!
I have a signed copy of Egghead! I haven't read it in a few years, and from what I remember, it's mostly funny poems like he tells here, like dirty Shel Silverstein, but I'd be curious to reread it and see if any of Bo's more serious themes started to show.
Edit: After reading these comments I will definitely have to revisit it
Yesss, you should definitely get the book! â„ïž editing to add: yes all of those poems and more are in the book
This is another reference to Tim Minchin's "So Fucking Rock", which in turn references Rowan Atkinson't invisible drum kit sketch
Youâre literally blushing in the thumbnail my man
đł
i have a signed copy from his last tour and it holds a special place in my heart lol i re read the poems all the time XD def worth the read
Ah yes the best part of the special
Just like with his music, I think the poems that are more serious tend to be the better ones.
I have Egghead and like it! There's definitely a couple in there that stuck with me since I read it years ago.
Also nice outro!
it really looks like you enjoy reacting and making this content makes it so entertaining
Egghead is fantastic! I have it, it's a lot of fun and he does some great ones here but there are definitely more fun ones in the book, I say go for it!
The "sorry" to the audience just kills me
I have the book! I bought an autographed from his website. It's good for when you like to sit an read quick little joke poems.
I have the book and I recommend it for sure. It has funny illustrations in it and the poetry is really witty
I totally have the book, and yes I like it. I also have Audible and I believe he reads it. I am saving that goodness for a rainy day.
Every time I hear the tetris piece joke I'm always reminded that even the first time I watched this I got it immediately and I'm still not sure how I feel about that.
Oh also I really recommend you watch Bo Burnhams interview âlive on good onesâ i think itâs called. He talks about his movie with grade with Elsie fisher! Heâs not in it but he wrote and directed it!
*eighth grade
Someone made a game based on the circle and square story. It's called "we become what we behold." And it'd be super relevant for a reaction.
i can't wait for the finale reaction and based on how you've reacted to some of these bits, i hope you do a series for Words Words Words after this
also definitely buy egghead
I read egghead itâs pretty good
"Cromagnum wandering through the fog, you know, scrubbing five other sapiens, no homo"... that "no homo" part is veeery smart...
This may be a stretch but if you could react to Zach Stone is Gonna Be Famous then that would be fun. Itâs a great show.
I have Egghead and I love it SO much. Itâs basically Shel Silverstein for adults lol
Crazy, I got his book Egghead today as this video was uploaded, came in the mail.
i got the book maybe a year ago? its such a funny but deep poem book, i really recommend it if you can get your hands on it
Are we gonna hold him accountableđ€Łđ€Łđ€Łđ€Ł Nah!!!
Ive got his book Egghead, its pretty good, a lot of funny stuff, and a lot of actually deep stuff too.
Egghead was my first ebook
I have the EGGHEAD audiobook, which Bo reads. I REALLY enjoyed listening to it.
I have egg head, i enjoyed it, got it at his show, comes signed, then he signed it after the show and the playing card he smacked me in the chest with in the intro.
I got the audiobook! Highly suggest, because he reads the entire thing!!
Yeah i got the book. I really liked it it was a good book to just chuckle at
I really loved egghead! Plenty of funny ones, but also some that hit hard mixed in there
Quick one since you asked abt his book. I got both the book and audio.. bc the book, on its own, truthfully... it needs delivery. Then after watching some reviews, i saw similar opinions and few recommended getting his audio version instead bc he narrates it... so as evidenced by few here.. his comedy doesnt quite work without that Bo delivery. I compare it a ton to listening to a really complicated lyrical rap vs just reading the lyrics without any flow concept.. you know? I recommed audio, but if youre a nostalgic person like me.. i like having the book as well.. just my experience. đ§đ»ââïž
Iâve had the book since it launched but yeah Iâd definitely recommend it.
If you haven't seen it already, you should watch "We think we know you". It was my eye opener to his struggles.
Also, weâd have to give money to Jeffrey Bezos but I havenât seen the whole Zach Stone is Gonna Be Famous tv show but itâs the fucking best
I have the book and it's phenomenal...
I have the book, it is Very good. Definitely recommend
You should watch Demetri Martin's If I. It wont get taken down it's kind of ancient. But he's a similar comedian, a neurotic musician and poet. He wrote a 200 hundred-something word anagram.
Oh Bo đ
Letâs do an Egghead book club: I want to read it too:
I do have Egghead đ€
Does anybody else think he's having an anxiety attack right before the poems?
Yea this was his laugh if its funny regardless of consequence phase a lot of millenials had (I never had a sense of humor so I just watched from the sidelines).
His pun on "cromagnum/no homo" is actually clever while also being juvenile and weirdly homophobic.
Oh his notebook is blank.
You expect a circles dont fit in line and then he outs the metaphor. He loves to take a random turn.
His Egghead poems have shorts but also some nice full pagers (with poetry thats still not long but its like 10 of his squares/circles one). You can get the audio book read by Bo.
Wait⊠egghead is REAL?? I just thought it was a bit.
Knowing the titles ahead of time kind of spoils some of the jokes
Agreed. I still think White Woman's Instagram should be called Is This Heaven? For spoiler reasons. I will never forget my first reaction to the song and it would have been completely undermined if I already knew what he was talking about. The same is true for Beating Off on A Minor.
While I can see where youâre coming from, I think he put the punchline in the title mainly because up until now, the majority of Chrisâ audience has been people who have already seen these specials so the joke really isnât being spoiled for them. Not only that, but if I had never seen the special and I read the title, I would not have known that it was referring to the key A-minor (and not the felony). Honestly, if I had never seen the special and somehow stumbled upon this video by Chris, the title alone would be what enticed me enough to click on it and watch it, if only just so that I could find out what the hell that provocative line could possibly be referring to.
@@maggiegeeee My bad, I should've been more clear. I meant that Chris is spoiling some jokes for himself by knowing the names of the bits he's about to react to
@@Pechesemo Oh okay I see what youâre saying now.
I read the book (and listened to the audiobook) and have to say that it falls short of most of his other material. Iâd say the funniest bits of the book made it into the show, and the rest are a step down. Itâs worth a few chuckles, but go into it with lower expectations. It does help to have him read it for you in the audiobook version
after what can you react to someone else? because as much as bo burnham is my favorite comedian/artist i think these 3 mane specials are enough ( by the way the reaction was great :) )
Awkward... LOL. Thanks Chris.
