We always locked them when we both were away from them for any time. If just one of us needed to go away from the bike, the other would just be next to it. We had a Prius and could store our bikes in the hatchback and back seat , always covering them. It worked perfect! Enjoy your bikes. There are so many great trails to ride on in Florida.
