The snake (at 11:54 of the video) is a harmless Northern Watersnake (Nerodia sipedon), not a Copperhead (Agkistrodon contortrix). They are our most frequently (and easiest) species mistaken for Copperheads. The lizard at 12:12 is a Common Five-Lined Skink (Plestiodon fasciatus).

Frontier Times Museum is highly recommended. It's arranged as if you're walking through an historic old house with surprise displays at any turn. In the far back room is the Heroes of Texas display which includes Kinky Friedman items.

Can you just wash without the water to get some of the wetness out like a spin cycle
