We need more teams at the world cup. The irb membership has grown a lot recently and having 20 teams is not reflective of its membership.

+MiamiMaddogsTV very true and in 2023 there will probably be 24 teams and a 2nd round of 16 teams. that would be best to get as many teams in the knockout fase and anything can happen there and still most teams would play only 3-4 matches

Wow, I've got tears in my eyes. To see the love and passion for the game warms my heart. Massive crowds and very devoted fans from a place I least expected. Since they are close to the African notables such as Namibia and Zimbabwe, they could perhaps setup a tournament with the best clubs from each country (similar to Super Rugby Aus, NZ, SA). That would definitely increase the quality of the players by having constant and healthy competition. Maybe South African clubs too.

Well done, Madagascar! These matches DO need to be televised, as the world does need to see what good rugby is being played all throughout the world. This game is going global now and the Lemurs are a shining example of the what the future could entail for rugby worldwide. Well done indeed!

I'd love to see the 'Maki's' in 2015 but the unfortunate truth is that it was an upset and Namibia had many Aviva Premiership and Super Rugby Player absent for this game. Namibia have a great squad of players abroad and i'm not certain the Maki's can overcome such experience when it comes down to the wire. But who know's! All I care about is that the Bokke win their 3rd crown next year!!

The benefits, importance, neccessity to "being bigger and more involved in other markets" is enormous and quite frankly I strongly feel that previous World Cups should have had more teams But I guess the main problem of why important things haven't been done or achieved etc. is down to the ability of the IRB and rugby management structures all over the world. They've been lacking and have dropped the ball a bit. I do however project the 2019 Japanes World Cup being pressured to have more teams.

Unable to normally reply to people's comments so.. The FIFA 2010 World Cup had 32 teams and 64 games were played. The RWC 2011 had 20 teams and 48 games were played. An increase of just 4 or 5 teams is not going to massively increase the no. of games and perhaps in one system could reduce for certain teams Yes Namibia were thrashed and slightly suprisingly as well but higher teams can simply play weaker 22s of their lesser quality younger players some blooding. And a system deals with things lik

I say do 25 teams, 5 pool with top team in each pool and highest 3 after that advancing. Even if a country like Madagascar might not make it to the QFs, surely the exposure to having competed would raise the profile of the game? With more berths, the minnows of the sport would have greater chances to qualify, and all would begin competing for the extra spots. Its simple supply and demand
