Much like a real memory, few lines have been altered slightly and dropped, nice touch. But also where originally Viserys was full of rage, here we see more pain, betrayal, and grief. To me it’s Daemons own guilt and regret warping his memories.
He doesn't remember the anger so much anymore, he remembers the pain he knew was underneath it. What Daemon remembers now is the grief and sadness and betrayal that fuelled Viserys rage and honestly I feel like this vision suggests; Daemon did say it. The way that even now, he can't bring himself to deny it... I feel like saying it, is one of those decisions that Daemon has spent years regretting, the sort of thing you say when you're young, stupid and drunk.
I love Daemon's little gesture at 1:27, ostensibly an aborted attempt at comforting his brother, but the shape he makes with his hands is reminscient of the times he has attempted to strangle his wife. I'm betting he wants to do both.
I love how they take a different tact with _how_ Viserys says some of the same lines he said in s1 - first time was rage, because it was so in the moment - this time, there's a frustration- it's like Daemon's subconsciousness is trying to *force* him to reckon with his problems- & how he deals with them (or fails to, as the case may be)...

It was inevitable that the memory of Viserys would torment Daemon. Paddy Considine's portrayal in this scene was extraordinary. He delivered a commanding performance. At 0:22, when Viserys says, "Did you say it? 'The Heir for a Day.' Did you say it? My family was just destroyed. You should have been at my side." Paddy's emotion was acted out excellently.
People who say these scenes are boring have short attention spans. It’s called character development and I think it’s a good thing that Daemon is having these visions because it shows how screwed up a person he is and it’s telling him to be better.

I love that Viserys breaks down sobbing after repeating the line from season 1 and Daemon's reaction, the vision's basically showing him what he already knew but refused to accept - his brother loved him and sending him away was miserable for him, by showing him how his brother felt Daemon is denied his delusion that it was all everyone else's fault or that his brother's actions were out of fear. The torture isn't reminding him that his brother rejected him, its showing him what the viewer knows, that if he hadn't been such a shit things could've turned out differently.
I agree, these are a creative way to explore both the idea that Harrenhal is magical as well as give Daemon some amazing character development. The man is way too proud and arrogant to let anyone dictate his behavior, so he has to recognize his mistakes internally.
Interesting since Paddy said after last season when asked about returning for flashbacks or whatnot that he wouldn't wanna do it. The second scene almost felt like a deleted scene from the first episode. Still bussin to see Vis back nontheless.

What makes the whole thing ever sadder is that, according to Matt Smith (and looking at the context of the scene and Daemon's mood in it), Daemon never even said "heir for a day" out of malice or mockery. It was more of a bitter summation of the, to him, pointless death of his beloved sister-in-law and little nephew. But even if he never said it to take the piss, he still said those unfortunate words and still wasn't there to comfort his grieving brother. And this episode makes it clear he regrets it even now.
So, they brought back Paddy and Milly to reprise their role as Viserys and younger Rhaenyra, could it be next time, they bring Emily Carey back as younger Alicent?

I wish we could have seen an actual conversation its like the writers don't know what to do until rhaynera takes kings landing so we have these subplots that are dragging out.

As a result we see him reflect further about his worthiness for the throne in how he reflects on the burden he was for Viserys, seeing how much pain he caused him and how he wasnt in fact a good brother or worthy of the crown. We see him getting humbled, and you want a big personality like Daemon to be properly humbled in only two episodes?
I like the curse of Harrenhal-scenes, but they hardly fit into a TV-show. They’re supposed to be intimate and mysterious, but they end up being comedic and follow a clear pattern of reoccurrence. They feel inserted, somehow. And they drag on and on. The scenes underline his character, but we already know who Daemon is, so show makers drag a thin story subplot really, really far, but for what? My impression is that the show makers want to point more at Harrenhal and, especially, Alys. But, again, why? We are spending so little time with the main characters. With so little time, everything just gets cramped in together and nothing gets really explained.
Im so glad Paddy Considine had the chance to reprise his role in this season, he was the best part of season 1 in my opinion
