    • @EJDoesEverythingBetter
      @EJDoesEverythingBetter Před 4 měsíci +1

      @@churchofgod4016 As an opera singer and vocal recital singer I can tell you this is BS. I can reach the 6th octave soprano high C on a good day, something no male pop singer in the current general lineup is capable of. The placement in pop music at its most extreme is nothing beyond the lowest of intermediate tenor opera repertoire. Any of the falsetto singing that male pop singers produce sounds horrible in comparison to male voices that actually train their falsetto. The best male voice type that currently works in that range is Sam Smith, and ole Sam had to have vocal surgery because of how poorly executed his falsetto range was, and even then he never went higher than a very thin sounding F5, which is where many Mozart tenor works reach to (look up William Matteuzzi to hear some of them performed). While I am an operatic singer, I am a rock tenor for the Murray State University Commercial Music Ensemble (the university's rock band that performs for all their big events such as homecoming etc.). Rock music is way harder to sing than pop is, and I do both for them. My operatic works are significantly harder, and take years of training to do properly.

      Well.there are many superior versions of this area to.the most famous and popular one by Pavarotti.Pavarotti had a beautiful Lyric Tenor voice which suited the Bel Canto roles in operas composed by Bellini, Donizetti, Rossini.Turandot is an opera best suited to Spinto Tenor voices, there are some excellent recordings of Nessun Dorma by Corelli, Bjorling, Domingo, Cura, Kaufmann.Nevertheless you have every right to your opinion, which I respect.

      Pavarotti was overrated. Domingo was better. Just because you can sing both Donizetti and Puccini doesn’t mean you’re the best at either. He was the Volkswagen Golf GTI of opera. Very good at everything. Brilliant at nothing.

      @@ImInLoveWithBulla sorry chief but Pavarotti is the greatest at this aria. He knew how to control his passaggio much better than Domingo in my opinion. Domingo sounded like he was screaming occasionally. Most people definitely prefer Pavarotti's voice over Domingos. To say he was "brilliant at nothing" is arrogant as all hell. He made opera as popular as it is and noone even remotely comes close to contributing more. There's a reason most consider him the greatest tenor of modern times, he had a one in a generation voice. I hope you're a trained tenor making these comments.

    Jonas Kaufmann is definitely one of the best tenors today. I think he is even better when singing Mozart and Schubert. His Tamino in the magic flute (Dies Bildnis ist bezaubernd schön) is absolutely great, almost as god as Fritz Wunderlich. Unfortunately he has had some problems lately with bleeding vocal cords. He had to cancel his performance at the Nobel concert in Dec 2016. I hope it is not to serious and that we will hear his wonderful voice many years to come.

      He held the B natural for almost 4 seconds. An average hold. The note is actually written to be merely touched upon before descending, but tenors with easy tops over the last 60 years have made it almost traditional to hold it longer. It fits with the piece to hold it, because it is a bravura aria of triumph, & any tenor who sings it as written today would be wrongly accused of being frightened of the note. Kaufmann made a reasonable effort here.
