However, I was hoping that you might explain your reference to "listened with the heart," and provide some special psychological insights into the composer, especially since it was Puccini's last opera, and perhaps the significance of the celebrated aria. Most of all, your thoughts why Puccini, despite more than adequate time, was unable to complete the final, great duet at the time of his death to his satisfaction.

He took the opera from the elite to the public and we will be always appreciated for that
And yet less than a hundred years ago, opera was very much a performance for the everyday public, not only the elite. My Italian parents were poor as church mice, but would go to the opera while courting. Probably not in the best opera houses and probably not the best seats, but it was far from entertainment for just the "elite". Maybe that was just the Italy of the 50's. But my father was as blue collar as you could get and he had a massive collection of Opera records. Different era, different culture, i suppose. But yes, Pavarotti and his divine voice transcends time and music.

This is a misconception. Opera was never elite. Going to the opera or going to the theatre was like going to the cinema nowadays.

that's just what performing on stage is like, haha!
The one at the beginning too, as if he has met someone special to him again after a very long time.
He seems to do it every time on this song. He really feels it and that's make it special, I think. Immense tenor and artist
Or you know, his jaw hurt from performing.
El mejor Tenor y entrañable persona.♥️♥️🎇🎇
During those last notes you can clearly see, how the power of the climax just washes over him. It really is true what great artists say, art doesn't come from them, they're merely channeling it from elsewhere. Incredible to witness.
This is one of those special people that I regret being too young to have ever seen perform live. I hope he understood how much joy he brought to so many people.
Exactementé❤
Sadly I never saw him perform live I wasn't born then
Him and paco de lucia are the ones I wish I saw them live once
He does
My music teacher says he once heard him while in University, and he remembers that the whole audience was clapping for nearly 45 min after hearing him.
Very well said. Such a talented man that turned a song into an absolute masterpiece. Not many artists nowadays touch your heart and stir emotions with their music in the way Pavarotti could when performing.
Got to be honest. I'm no fan of Opera, but oh my word, this is arguably one of the greatest live performances in the history of anything, ever. Incredible
false arrest... hospitalized $1 lawsuit damages to charity... serpent cast out.... why isn't fbi agents are not able to differentiate the real world.... from opera? 'look in the mirror' -SOURCE
I don't know a thing about opera and I come back to this regularly, it's also now in one of my music playlists
It’s magical
@@td4341 if you liked this one by Pavarotti, try “Caruso” his version is powerful and emotional
No doubt is the best live performance for ever and ever
What would you give to be one of the lucky people in the audience that night? Spellbinding, incredible and uniquely passionate. R.I.P. our friend.
I have watched this at least a hundred times and I still get goosebumps!
